Plumbing Reviews in Astoria

After the carbon monoxide detector in my house indicated a hazard, and after calling 911, the firefighters suggested I get my old oven serviced. I turned off the gas and pilot for the oven, overnight, and still had high readings for carbon monoxide. Unsure of who to call, I was fortunate to find
& Heating's website which clearly states that they can inspect your appliances for common conditions causing this problem.
was courteous (he called to let me know he was in traffic and on his way), respectful, professional and attentive. He patiently listened to the details of the problem, and then walked me through a thorough process of elimination, testing for carbon monoxide throughout the house. Sometimes service professionals are condescending or uncommunicative
was helpful and friendly. This matters to me as the owner of an old "it's always something" house who has had too many people treat me rudely while trying to take my money.
referred me to a chimney inspector when we narrowed down the problem. His price ($150) was very fair, both for his expertise, and for coming on short notice. I highly recommend them. If I need plumbing or heating work in the future, I am relieved to have found a reliable company.

Quick and painless! The plumber was here less than an hour after my call, on a Saturday morning. He was polite and professional, and even replaced my jiggly toilet handle at no additional cost! Thanks

and his team arrived earlier than anticipated, but had his office call ahead to make sure this worked for me. He assessed the issue (a leaky joint near the pressure valve) quickly, repaired it, flushed the system, cleaned the boiler and checked for gas leaks. He found one and repaired it as well.

was professional, friendly, hard-working and fair (he worked with me on the price). Overall an excellent experience. I would definitely use him again.

We awakened on a Saturday morning during the severe cold snap to find that one of our hot water heating zones was not working.
Astoria Plumbers Provider Name Locked
was one of several plumbers we called. He called back quickly and said he would be over in 45 minutes. He diagnosed the problem as a frozen pipe and set about using an electrical machine to defrost it. It turned out there were several frozen areas in our system as our house is 100 years old and poorly insulated. When the pipes thawed a leak developed where the ice had burst the pipe. He worked diligently to find and fix the leak and did not leave until the job was done. Fixing the leak required removing a section of hardwood flooring and subfloor for access to the pipe. In the process he replaced several valves in the furnace that were leaking or not allowing proper draining and venting of the system.

This is the 5th project that

had undertaken for me and by far the most challenging. The walls were all treated with damp proofing, the existing interior walls were replaced by all new metal studs and sheetrock. All new plumbing and electrics and new main electrical board installed. Also a new metal staircase. Pretty much the whole basement was demolished, and where the old "Oil Tank Room" was, he built a laundry/kitchenette with new plumbing and electrics and a vent (converting the existing and now redundant oil delivery hole) for the dryer. The existing bathroom was replaced in it's entirety with new fixtures and plumbing and electrics and the bath replaced with a full size shower. The floors were prepped with new concrete and tiles throughout i.e the main room, laundry, bathroom, hallway, entrance and furnace room. New ceilings and sections boxed in. Redundant plumbing was removed, steam pipe rerouted and all new electrics including switches, outlets and recessed lighting installed. A new cupboard was built for the gas and electric meters and new doors and window surrounds were installed.

came up with some great ideas and incorporated ours too in the rebuild. The level of finish is of an extremely high standard and he takes pride in the project as if he were doing it for himself. I should also point out that he easy to talk to regarding budget and his advice has been well received in terms of what is of utmost necessity and what could be deemed a luxury. In other words you will spend where it is important to and in so doing you can keep a very real sense of what your budget is. He is extremely reliable and trustworthy and mindful of being in and around your home. I couldn't recommend him highly enough and I have continued to use his services as shown below.
He has to date completed
1) a full renovation of our upstairs two/three bedroom apartment including new bathroom and kitchen.
2) laid a concrete base for our double carport
3) renovated our double garage repairing the walls and laying tiles and running new electrics and lighting (excl the doors)
4) installed a new bathroom in our ground floor apartment and done some work to our kitchen, tiling and granite top.
5) full remodelling of our basement as described above.
Finally, I'm sure if I tried I could have found someone cheaper who would have undertaken all my work, in fact I did for a few small jobs before I found

. The results were a disaster and for not that much less money either, and in fact the person did a runner without completing one of the tasks at hand. You get what you pay for and certainly with

The plumber arrived promptly on schedule. Fixed the toilet and showed me how to replace the water-filter myself for next time. Eveything is working perfectly now -- it's a big relief to find a good, reliable plumber who doesn't cost a fortune.

I called the company, explained the problem, and requested an estimate. The representative said that they would be happy to send over one of their professionals to assess the problem– free of charge– and he would provide an estimate for us. At that point, if we agreed to the fee he would render the service on the spot. If we did not agree, he would leave, and we would not be charged for the visit. So I requested that they send someone over this evening, and they said that they would be able to arrange for one of their employees to come tonight; they would call to update me on when he would arrive. An hour later they called to say that their servicemen were experiencing some delays, but would be there within 2 hours at the utmost. I agreed to wait, and an hour later they called again to say that someone was on their way over, and would be there in about 30 minutes.
Right on time, our doorbell rang. The plumber asked a couple questions about the issue (notably, "was anything– an object– dropped in the toilet at any point?"– to which the answer was "no"), and concluded that our first course of action would be to attempt to use a drain auger (perhaps more commonly known as a "snake"). He informed us that the use of that device would cost $125 plus tax. We agreed to the charge, and crossed our fingers that it would be sufficient. After a few minutes of manipulating the auger, the plumber was able to unclog the pipe. However, in the process, the interior surface of the bowl had been scratched by the snake. When I handed over the check, I inquired as to how we would be able to repair the damage to the bowl, and he said that certain household cleaning supplies would do the trick (Scrubbing Bubbles, or Easy Off, for example), and proceeded to demonstrate. He spent an additional 10-15 minutes scrubbing our bowl to remove the scratches using a couple different products we had on hand, alternating between using a brush and a sponge. In the end, the toilet was restored to full working order, and the scratches were barely visible.
He also assessed the water level in our tank, and explained that it was not reaching the fill line, which resulted in weaker water pressure (a less powerful flush). In order to adjust the water so that it reached the proper level, we would have to replace the fill valve, which would be an additional $75 if we proceeded at that time, but would be $225 for a separate visit (suggesting that the visit itself was an additional fee, if services were rendered). We declined to spring for the additional repair, as this was the first time in 3.5 years that we needed to call a plumber for toilet issues.
The total charge was about $136 including tax, which was significantly lower than the obscene prices we were quoted by two other local companies ($225+ and $260+; and both charged assessment fees whether or not services were rendered). That said, it was still a little pricey for 5 minutes of work with a snake. But we were also given a 7-day guarantee, so should our toilet revolt again during that window, we could contact them for repair at no additional charge. Overall, we were quite pleased with the professionalism, efficacy, and helpfulness of the plumber we were sent, as well as the courtesy, professionalism, and responsiveness of the representative I spoke with over the phone.

During the process a leak was discovered in one of the old pipes and
they repaired it without adding to the total cost of the job.
New pipes were laid in the basement and 1st floor apartment.

The piping work is beautiful. We are very pleased with the work. We highly recommend Apple Plumbing

It was not possible for us to be worked into the schedule, and we tried hard to make it work.
We asked Angie's List for our money back and it was credited right away.
