"Summer of 2014 had to replace motor in pool pump so opened pool end of
in 2014 and had it open for about 1 month. This year (2015) opened" pool end of June. It is now end of
and pool pump not working. So total use of pool pump that cost me $450 at Bontragers had a use of 2 months. Called
on 07/29/15 and was advised warranty only 1 year and warranty ran out 07/23/15. I understand that, but pump was only used 2 months. Asked if they would consider extending the warranty, but of course they would not. Previous pump was 20 years old before it had to be replaced and never needed any work done!
pool pump was only 2 months old.
does not stand behind their workmanship. Not good quality product.

"Everything went good on there part. Just a screw up on my end. Very reliable and knowledgable about there work. No problems at all. Was very fair settling up at" the end. I hope the owners read this because when I am ready to have a pool put in, if they let me I will use them. I want to get the right one when I have the money to do it right.

5 tips to consider before adding a swimming pool

So you think you're ready to take the plunge and invest in a new pool for your backyard. Be sure to consider these tips before diving in.

5 Secrets Most Pool Service Companies Won't Tell You

All swimming pool companies operate differently. If you need local pool service, check out these secrets some companies don’t want you to know.

My order of preference - first choice a jacuzzi/hot tub repairman (from a jacuzzi/hot tub/sauna distributor), second choice a plumber (many do not work on hot tubs, jacuzzi's and sauna because they cnanot afford to stock parts). An electrician might be able to fix it if it is a connection problem, but such motors are seldom repaired if the problem is internal, just replaced - which would be a jacuzzi repairman/plumber type job.

You will have to find out what your model costs new - looks like they run from about $400 to 1700 depending on size. IF yours is at the lower end, might be just as cheap to replace it, with parts and labor. If not low end, then repair probably works. Typical pricing of components that might have gone out - switch $80, timer/control unit $130, heating element $100 (probably most likely to have failed) - so if only one of these went out, figuring $100-200 labor, probably cheaper to fix it. I would contact your dealer for a better idea.

BTW - here is a Saunatec instruction on maintenance on the heating element and rocks, failure to follow can shorten heating element life, if that is what went out (and probably the simplest to replace) -

I'm sorry to say there aren't many of us on here with adequate experience working on pools, myself included.  My suggestion would be to contact a few local companies specializing in pool renovation and have them give their recommendations and bids for the work, breaking down order of operations so you know what to expect at which stages.  Check Angie's List for referrals in your area and cross check those with the BBB for any unresolved complaints.

Pool And Spa Cleaning reviews in Reno

This pool company was the only pool company that gave me a complete bid in a notebook with everything detailed on what would be done on the day of the inspection. I was very impressed with the professionalism of this company. We will definitely be using this company in the future. Thank you Paradise pools.

Work was completed quickly and on schedule. The work performed was sub-standard. I had to repair the crawl space access door as it was falling in from the roof. Fan relocation was part of the design, however the sub-contractor didnt want to move it without charging an additional $50, it was later resolved by getting the Office Manager involved. The AC installers were walking around on newly installed carpet with dirty boots until I asked them to put a drop cloth down or remove their boots.
This biggest disappointment was the AC installation which we have had to have work completed on twice. With a unit that is new you wouldn't expect a freon leak so quickly. They also incorrectly installed the AC pumping where the AC was draining from the secondary instead of the primary drain which caused water build up in the over flow

and rust to accumulate.
We hired a local AC repairman to correct the plumbing, but will have to spend more money to determine where the freeon is leaking which could prove costly.
Overall a shoddy job and will not contact them again for any services.

I have been having trouble for about a month with my present pool service with my suction suddenly going low. They cleaned my filter and put a new cleaner in the pool, but that wasn't working. After talking with them last night, I had the impression that they had given up. I asked them to return my old pool cleaner to me.
With the thought that this company was not going to find the cause of the suction problem, I wrote
Reno Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
on Angie's list because it was late at night and I needed some help! I gave them all the information and asked them to stop by when they could check on it.
Today, I was surprised to see a very nice gentleman from
Reno Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
at my door, asking if he could check the pool..
When I joined him by the pool, I saw that I had my old cleaner back which was running just fine, so the suction was fine. Later I found an email from my pool company that they were going to check something else, so they had obviously also come by already.
The gentleman from

told me that my suction was fine (which it was, NOW). He also showed me that my hoses were old and breaking at the edges, which could also cause problems with the suction. He also would suggest a different set-up, but since the other company was doing it that way, he would not interfere.
I was so impressed with their quick response and honest, professional advice, that I definitely will use them again, especially when I am ready to change companies.

All I will say is that these folks were totally professional, in constant communication during the process, exactly how a business should be run... it was refreshing. Had contacted the pool company that opens and closes for me for the estimate, it took them a week to email me with the estimate after I had called 2 or 3 times. Needless-to-say, I will not use them again, they knew I was in a hurry for the liner!!! I have spoken with at least 5 or 6 of the staff at
Reno Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
, they were all cordial, professional, helpful! The cost was a bit higher than I had hoped, but they made up for it in quality service! I would recommend to any and all who ask for a referral, wish I had found them sooner!!! Thank you!

There was miscommunication regarding the pricing. I was given a price for opening the pool but when I told the service guy who came out that the pool had been closed for two years I was told that there might be additional costs for chemicals. That made sense to me. What I was not aware of was that I was being charged labor for each visit. While I was given a discount, I felt as if that wasn't made clear.
Despite that, the pool looked fantastic! I was pleased with the quality of the work.
- Deborah H.

Very professional and competitive on the cost of the pump. Recommended a slightly different model than the basic pump used by the company that installed my pool. It now runs more efficiently.
