Moving reviews in Raton
I worked with by the Alabama Trucking Association regulations. That means estimates can vary from one moving company to another, but the price you pay will be the same, no matter which moving company you use. Good to know that piece of information.
We were satisfied with the three man moving crew. They were professional, courteous, and worked expeditiously. Everything arrived with no damage.
The only minor issue was that the crew arrived about an hour late. No big deal.
So this was a very good move for us.
The guys they sent over were amazing. They moved so fast and got my items in and out of the truck in no time. They were also very nice and did their best to give great customer service. I loved having them in the house, they were nice and professional.
Cheap price...not worth it
The price was right. I used an Angie's List coupon. I handled everything on the Angie's List email. I was happy for the documentation given the experience (see below). I suggest future patrons call the company and keep good documentation.
Customer service: needlessly terrible
The company lost my reservation. I called around 3pm and the woman who answers the phone simply told me I had no reservation and then washed her hands of the situation telling me that someone would call me later that evening. Completely indifferent, I felt like I was taking up her time. She was irritated when I pressed her ... everything at my home was in boxes and chaos and I wanted some help. Instead she had a very sharp
Lost my reservation
My "window" for expecting the movers was 1-4pm. At 4pm I received a call from the guy who took my reservation (only after I sent an email over Angie's message system). He apologized, said another job ran over and that he would be late. I was perfectly fine with that, I just needed the move to happen that day no matter the time. At 5pm I had to call him again and ask where he was. "Right around the corner." At 5:30 a truck rolled up with my two (amazing) movers and not the man that I had been talking to.
Weird collections procedure
At 7:30pm the movers wrapped up the job and we were all standing in the dark empty storage facility parking lot. This was when the two men told me they were supposed to get some money from me for truck gas. I was fine with that (it is mentioned on the coupon) but I had nothing on me and was not expecting the request at that moment.
I told them to take the charge from the visa card they already had on file. They pressed me saying they couldn't, give us a check. I don't carry checks. They told me to go to an ATM and get them some cash. Now it is starting to feel weird and a little scary. They backed off and the office fixed it later but I did not like that method of collections and the company should revisit this and stop putting the guys (and customers) in this position.
Happy ending but can't recommend
So the move happened on the day we needed it to happen. The movers hustled and did a great job. I would have been fine with my "window" sliding as long as the info was correct and not a series of optimistic guesses. The customer service was needlessly terrible.
I could not recommend this company.
