Most people enjoy sitting in front of a fire on a cold day, but there are disadvantages to traditional, wood-burning fireplaces. They tend to waste energy, require maintenance and pose some risk. Read this guide to discover several alternatives that provide the same ambiance, but with fewer downsides.

Do you love the smell of wood burning while you're curled up next to a fire? Consider converting your gas fireplace to wood. Here's how much it costs.

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

Fireplace Installation And Maintenance reviews in Las Cruces

Inspector arrived early, which was great. He covered open area to chimney with plastic and also flooring in front of fireplace for protection. He cleaned chimney and let us know there was no issues. He gave us information that was also emailed to us with information on the inspection that was performed. Total inspection was under around an hour from the time he arrived to the time he left. I would contact them if I needed any repair.

and team were great! I had an existing odd brick faux fireplace that was put into my 1920s house for no apparent reason, but wanted to replace it with a working unit, especially since my oil bill was through the roof last winter. Since there was so much brick in place, I didn't know if it was best to tear it down and start from zero or use the existing brick as part of the new design. I had called several fireplace experts over the past year, but nobody was able to help with the design through the installation like Ember did.
We started out with a visit to my home, then we looked at several options while
Las Cruces Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
got a feel for what I liked. She presented a design that we changed a bit over some discussions and in the end I loved it. We decided to keep the existing brick and build out the fireplace to make it fit the insert, then lower the hearth and add a reclaimed wood mantle. We also opted to paint the brick white to give it a current look while keeping in the style of the house.

was great about providing me several options for financing, as I didn't have the entire amount in cash to

out for the project. The financing process was smooth and easy, and shortly after we decided to move ahead I was approved and we were ready for the demo.
The demo went great, and the team was very clean and tidy, given they had to demo a bunch of brick to get the insert space right and demo the raised hearth. We had a couple of delays due to permits and inspections, but overall I am VERY happy with the results (see photos) and overall the installation was a breeze. I used the fireplace this weekend for the first time and it quickly heated my entire downstairs to a comfy 70 degrees.
I will mention that there were three snafus during the project, which
Las Cruces Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked to quickly address and rectify. First, they hadn't initially pulled a permit for the work - which we discovered after I asked on the first day. This delayed the project for a couple of weeks while we waited for the permit to arrive. I believe they thought I was pulling it and I thought they were, so in the end it was a

miscommunication. Second, the person laying the bricks to build out the fireplace laid them in a pattern that didn't integrate with the old brick, so there was a "grout seam" down each side, making it look like the additional brick was bolted on. When I texted
Las Cruces Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
the photos, she quickly agreed that the work wasn't right, and sent someone in to take down the brick that had been put up and then redo it so that it looked like the brick was there all along. Finally, I had mentioned that I needed to get the ceiling painted, which I believe the painter took to mean I would have it painted after the work was done. In fact, I am not planning to have it painted until the spring. Unfortunately, he wasn't careful with the white paint on the fireplace at the top, so there are white paint

on the ceiling, which could have easily been prevented with painters tape. However, I believe this was a
Las Cruces Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
miscommunication, not something that was intentionally done.
Again, these were minor in comparison to the fact that they are a full-service shop and I had a very unique situation. The team really went above and beyond with the work - they even identified a small gas leak in one of the lines in the basement and also fixed one of the electrical outlets next to the fireplace when they discovered it wasn't working - all at no charge.
Everyone that has come to my home can't believe how beautiful the fireplace is and how it completely transformed the look of my home. When I renovate my basement, I may add a fireplace there too, and will definitely use Ember again. I am so happy with Ember and would highly recommend them to anyone!

They showed up right on time, were very polite and professional. They let me know what they were doing and gave me a time estimate on how long it would take. They finished faster than their estimated time, and cleaned up everything as if they were never even here. I was very pleased with the service and will hire them again next year for my annual sweep and inspection.

called and arrived ahead of schedule. He immediately diagnosed the problem and made the repair. He cleaned the glass and rebuilt the log assembly. The fireplace looks better than it did the day it was installed. I would highly recommend this company.

I decided on
Las Cruces Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
Complete Chimney service come out and do a cleaning of the chimney after reading the positive reviews here. We purchased the house in May and wanted to have it cleaned before we had a fire.. Two technicians showed up and got right to work. They put down drop clothes on the floor in front of the fireplace and even held another over the opening while performing the cleaning. When they were finished they put the grate and screen back in place and vacuumed all around the hearth. They were friendly, thorough and professional. I would recommend them to my family and friends. As a matter of fact my sister in law is planning on calling them from my recommendation.
