"The contractor and all the employees were very professional and knowledgeable of the product they sell and install. From the initial salesman to the installers, all were beyond my expectations!" i'm very familiar with the trades so I had a lot of questions about the system installation and operation. Time was taken to completely answer all my questions 100%. The installers arrived on the appointed time and jumped right on the install of the solar panels and my main house electrical power panel replacement. the system was installed quickly and looks and performs great. I could not be more happy with the outcome. The City inspector even commented on how good the system looked. After the final inspection was complete, the company owner got the network hooked up, commissioned and fully operational. That allowed me full access to view my system from both a computer and from my android phone. its very interesting to watch the system perform and to know that is operating as designed. Overall i'm 100% satisfied with my system and have already shown my system to friends and neighbors and recommended this great contractor. Prior to the job, I did a lot of research as there are over 500 solar contractors in California. some good and some not so good.. It's very important to do your research both on equipment and contractors. referrals have always worked best for me. Do your homework and you wont be disappointed. This type of system costs far too much to make an expensive mistake.

"On their website, I was quoted $35,000. When the evaluator came to the house, he gave me a quote of $24,000. When I asked about the difference, he told me that they liked being a bit" conservative on their website. In other words, he would not have wanted to give me a quote that was higher than the quote on the website. I had a coupon for a $1,250 rebate. He subtracted it from the cost. I mentioned that one of my neighbors had pointed me in their direction. He told me that we would each get a check for $250. We each got a check for $500, several weeks after the installation. Federal tax incentive: $7,350 State tax incentive: $1,000 County property tax incentive: $2,500 Final cost, after incentives, and discounts: $11,650 Since the installation: I was given an
t-shirt I received an Amazon gift card for $25 I received my first SREC payment: $1,540 I don't have the details from my payments to the power company over the past two years, but this year (2014) I have not paid for electricity in the past 7 months (it is
25 at this writing). This has been due to a lot of sunlight during that time. We live in Maryland, so our seasonal temperatures and amount of sunlight are about average compared to the rest of the country. The past winter, we got some snow. When the Sun came out, the sunlight warmed the panels a bit, as the Sun penetrated the snow, and the snow slid off the panels and onto the ground. I did get a long pole with a wiper on the end to pull off any residual snow. The only downside is that the panels cannot provide power when there is a power outage. They must be on the "grid" to supply power. However, you can get a very expensive system, with batteries, to back up your solar panels. I don't believe Astrun Solar provides this system.

3 types of solar panels: pros and cons

Are you confused about how solar panels work? Manufacturers produce three general types of panels, with variances that affect efficiency and performance. Find out how the three types differ, and which might work best.

Before you buy a solar system for your home, it pays to do your homework. Take the time to research factors that will affect the system’s performance.

If you’re pondering a solar panel system, learn about the basics before you contact a professional to assess your home's suitability for solar power.

There are many high pressure solar companies out there pushing a solar lease and homeowners may not fully understand what they are getting into, says Burnett. (Photo courtesy of SolarCraft)

Leasing solar panels may sound like a nice way to get green energy into your home, but count the cost before you sign that lease instead of buying outright.

Are you talking about powering your home solely on solar (i.e. no back up power source or off grid).

The power, once convered from DC to AC via the inverter, is suitable for use by the home.

Most solar application are in supplement to the current powering of the home and will spin the meter back in the day but are not the primary.

OK - that should strike Atlantic Plumbing off your vendor list !

You say female pipe to copper pipe connection - I hope you are not saying they connected copper directly to galvanized or black iron pipe. If so, there should have been a dielectric union put in there to prevent corrosion, which could be part of your problem.

Also, generally a bad idea to use teflon tape for hot water tank connections - too much thermal cycling, loosens it up over time. Should use plumbers dope for that application.

It sounds to me like a connection problem - if the tank itself was leaking it should be flooding the top of the tank or more likely running down through the insulation and dripping out the bottom.

Unless you are a do it yourselfer, sounds like you need to find a new plumber with good reviews and rating in your area - Search the List (in green banner bar). This should be an easy fix - should have him put in dielectric couplings (about $5-10 each depending on pipe size) if current connection is iron to copper, and even if not, have him redo connection not only for cold but also hot water - if one was done poorly, probably both were.

He was very punctual and explained what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. He was very careful not to damage my roof tiles. Since the panels have been cleaned I can notice an immediate increase in the output of my panels which will soon offset the cost of cleaning them. I have signed up to have my panels cleaned on a regular basis as it makes sense financially.

In the beginning a lot of stress was felt not really knowing how the process works. But because of their professionalism and their patients to answer every question, the whole experience was very pleasant. The workers were on time and very friendly. One worker even helped my wife take the trash can out to the street. The install was completed in 3 days and my wife and I flip the final switch and watched as the solar system went to work and the meter running backwards, very exciting. I would highly recommend

Contact with
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Wood, the owner of
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
(SSES), and his son on our home site in the first week of June answered all questions and provided multiple options. In later negotiations back and forth queries and answers were handled quickly and in good detail either by owner or tech members of his staff, Online and by phone we were presented with full information to the multiple options and questions we presented. These involved price, quality, output capacity, warranties by both manufacturer and SSES, number of panels and their location based on our visual observations during about 8 weeks of where sunlight hit the roof at different times of day. We also went to Amazon to gather presumably unbiased opinions of their customer responses as to the quality of equipment which Amazon carried. This gave us some specifics to inquire about the weaknesses of some suggested components. This lead us to a conversation with
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
and his willingness to utilize what to us appeared the best long-term power outcome: it involved some equipment with which SSES had had no direct experience. (While acknowledging the publicized superiority of a certain component,
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
was loathe to "experiment" on this mid-size job. He never told me he would not or could not do this, but he kept strongly preferring his accustomed component.)
(SSES was one of four companies with which we engaged in onsite and offsite queries and conversations. Our contact with all four began in the first week of June, 2014. We began by contacting a couple of local people who had installed Photo Voltaic on their homes and making an inquiry of Angie's List. Two of these were comparatively smaller companies; SSES and another company were relatively larger and had done PV work locally with customers who responded positively to my seeking their evaluations.)The two smaller companies had significant reasons to recommend them, but were unwilling or unable to install the equipment that we had chosen following about six weeks of evaluating our options.
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Wood, was the direct negotiator with us on equipment options. His technical staff at his office were in direct contact with us regarding number of panels and their location on our roof. It never took more than a day, and often took only a matter of minutes or hours to get responses of our inquiries, including several major changes on our part primarily about the number and position of panels on the roof. We had to ourselves from the beginning set a price
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
of $30,000 with preference for much less, and we let all our bidders know that t price would be an important factor.
We signed a contract with SSES on
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
28th regarding equipment. Deposit was placed and equipment ordered. We were told that actual installation would take place by early November. Discussion about Solar Panels' location continued a bit with the Tech Staff. We were told all the equipment had been gathered by mid August (a pleasant surprise), and three days were set beginning August 28 for installation. On Aug. 28th a double crew of five or six arrived that morning and the entire installation was completed, including the apparatus and demonstration allowing to monitor performance via our computers or cell phones by 7 PM (still two hours of daylight).
Total courtesy and responsiveness toward us by all the crew throughout the whole day.
Total cleanup before they departed.
Final appearance on the roof is what we asked for: looks good, distributed a bit inconveniently to the installers, but gives good space for any further work on the roof, with sufficient space around and through the panels to avoid inconvenience to later workers.
It took several weeks for the electric company to go through its process of integrating the installed PV system with the local electric grid. On September 19th a crew of three came from SSES to "energize" the system (i.e., it then began to work integrated with the local grid). On this day a final tutorial was given us on how to monitor our production. Our monitoring indicates that production will exceed our anticipated goal reducing our electric bill by about one third.
After receiving two
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Energy billing statements we were confused about the numbers given which recorded our production along with the remaining
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Energy production of electricity for our use (for which we pay), a phone call to SSES, taken by
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
Wood, gave us all we needed to know to clarify that all that we are producing is "counting" in our favor.
We have a 25 year warranty including labor for any defect in the equipment. We have an extended warranty including labor from SSES for whatever may be needed if something is not working. (This last warranty is not 25 years, but it does give good assurance that the work was done right.)
Explanation of cost: The job was expensive compared to other bids using less efficient components. But it was $1,500 cheaper than the one other company bidding on the same equipment.

After taking bids from
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
and two national companies, we choose
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
, because they had better prices and liked the idea of working with a local company.
When we where finally ready to start the instillation, the Solar Panels they where planning to use weren't available, so they had to use a different panel which meant they had to use a few more panels than planned, but the cost to us was the same.
The install went well, and the installers where professional and did a great job. The wait for the City and DWP to sigh off was a test of patience but after a few weeks the system was turned on.
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
warned us that our first DWP bill would be way out of
Gallup Solar Panel Installers Provider Name Locked
, but to let them know when the bill comes and they will help with it. Sure enough the first bill after the Solar Panels where activated came and was out of sight, but true to their word, they acted as our agent with the DWP and fixed things.
It's been almost a year with the Solar Panels, and we've had no troubles, and we are enjoying minimum bills from the DWP!

I initally was excited about the idea but when we got into it I saw it was not for me. Reason being they base your lease and the amount of electricity on your previous use which of course makes sense but if you plan to and onto your house or maybe build a garage there are no allowances for refiguring your use and your stuck with the 90% they can offer by law on what your actually using now. aying per

The set up and install went flawlessly and it is still performing quite well. My only issue with this company is it's financing solution for the project and the follow through with that aspect of the job. It seems every time we turn around the person we have dealt with is no longer at the company. I don't have a strong feeling they will be there if there ever is a problem but it's been over a year now and everything is still performing beautifully and they DID install a quality system.
