Vinyl plank flooring can be a cost-efficient practical choice for active rooms in your home and a worthy, less expensive alternative to hardwood flooring.
Dear Angie: We’re considering luxury vinyl flooring for our kitchen. Is this a good option for a house with pets? — Lynn A., New Milford, Connecticut
Contractors say homeowners with this trait are the most satisfied with home improvement projects.
"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"
My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par. The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right. This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Process wise apparently they wiped the stained finish with cloth rags and alcohol. They did not use a "tack cloth" for the final wipe that would have ensured a grit and dust free surface before applying the sealer coat. The Corporate Owner did send another crew to repair the damages. The stair surfaces were finally lightly re-sanded, tack cloth wiped and treated properly with the sealer. However this crew also missed removing all blue tape which revealed more power sander damages mentioned. The Corporate Owner we think has good intentions but their crews lack proper training and common customer courtesies. The Owner should have a QA/QC inspection process as a follow-on with subject matter experts. As a result of damages we spent an additional $400 hiring an "Angie's List A Player Painter" who fixed everything properly.
The basement of our 1957 rambler was slightly flooded in the spring of 2014, the result of heavy rains following significant snowmelt. As a result, we had portions of the carpet replaced in June. Then in October, my wife was offered a job in the house on the
Due to other jobs we were having done around the home, I needed to twice reschedule. In each instance,

qualities, answering our questions and allowing us to select the carpet we wanted for our home.
They removed and disposed of the old carpet, then installed the new carpet installation in our living room, bedrooms and stairway.
With a piece of remaining carpet we made an extra request to install it at the entry to our basement. They were able to do this for us.
Upon removing the old kitchen linoleum floor, they noted several dips, low spots in the floor and corrected this prior to installing the new tile floor.
We enjoy our carpet and tile floors and love the look it gives our home.”
The install crew was very polite, professional, neat and fast. They even offered to help me move my furniture back into place when they were done.
I was very happy with all aspects of the job and will use
