He did and outstanding job. He provided extra support for the deck where we asked for it. He ccompleted the job about a half a day early. The deck is great, we use it every weekend.

Let me say at the outset if you are looking for a small typical handyman job and you are onsite to supervise,
is probably fine. I assume all these good reviews fall into that category. Unfortunately,
persuaded me that he could do a bigger project at a very low cost in less than 2 weeks. I live out of state, so I relied on the reviews here to think that I could trust
to work well unsupervised. I was wrong. Once I was out of state and my kitchen demolished,
became increasingly controlling, demanding more money at regular intervals saying that he could not live on the amounts that he originally quoted, and immediately stopping work on the project if I didn't get him Western Union cash right away. He dragged the project out for months this way, until he finally walked off the job leaving me scrambling to find others to complete work he had agreed to do.
became so controlling during the project that it felt like I was in an abusive relationship, causing me an enormous amount of stress.
treated our prior agreements as suggestions for him to revisit at will, deciding that he didn't like my color or material choices and that it was up to him to make those decisions. Here is an actual conversation: "I beg you, please install the shelves into the studs so that I know they are structurally as strong as possible."
: "don't you trust me?" Me: "It’s not about trust, it's about my peace of mind, and I'm telling you that this is important to me." Imagine after literally begging him to do something that is important to you, discovering when you fly back into town that he ignored you anyway? I kept telling myself that
must know what he is doing. I was wrong again. His finish work was subpar throughout. I had to pay off a neighbor to avoid a lawsuit after
left an enormous pile of gravel for days in the street which the neighbor crashed into. I will never forget the feeling of freedom and relief when
finally walked off the job, apologizing and admitting that he did not have the expertise. But that didn't stop him from asking for even more money, telling me that he had spent the funds I had given him imprudently and that now he was broke. Despite this nightmare I experience, I will close the same way I began:
is probably fine for a small handyman job that you can supervise. But if you let him entice you into a bigger project with the promise of impossibly low costs, you were warned.

We had a large deck (500 sq. feet) installed just above the ground in our back yard. It is perfect in every way and looks great.

dug out the dirt and rocks that were in the yard, so the area was perfectly flat. He then put In the wood sub-base, cut the decking precisely to size and screwed it down.
The decking is smooth, precisely fits around our pool and is solid as a rock. We love it!!

This is a review I'm sorry I have to write. I had read the glowing reviews of
Albuquerque Carpenters Provider Name Locked
on Angie's List and thought perhaps our problems with unskilled and unreliable handymen were solved. We asked him to patch and repaint two spots in the ceiling of one room, install a new floor (approx. 220 sq. ft) in the same room, and install a new threshold at the transition from the new floor to the remainder of the house. We also asked him to stabilized the metal patio roof at another rental. He seemed knowledgeable about materials and methods and his cost estimate seemed reasonable ($290 for the floor, $35 for the ceiling repair at the first house; $20 for the patio cover at the second house). Parking on week days is a problem on this street, but he said he could work on Saturday and Sunday. He asked for one-half of the cost up front, which seemed a little unusual, especially since we were supplying the materials, but I paid it because several of his Angie's List reviewers had remarked on his integrity and reliability.
He was unable to complete the floor installation in one day as he had planned, but said he would return to finish it the following day and would fix the patio roof at the other house. He did patch the ceiling. I took the remainder of his fee to him in the afternoon of the next day, assuming that he would install the threshold (which he had said he could supply) when he had finished the floor and would then

down the patio cover at the other house. Unfortunately, this was a mistake. He did not install the threshold and did not repair the patio cover. Several days went by and I heard nothing from him. Since high winds were forecast, I called him again and urged him to fix the patio roof the next day (a Saturday) and then go back to the first house to install the threshold and paint the ceiling patches. He said he had been so busy he had forgotten. He showed up and secured the patio roof, which took about 45 minutes according to the tenant, but did not return to the first house.
I waited until Friday of the next week, expecting to hear from him. No luck, so I called him again (Friday, May 2). He said he had forgotten and needed to buy a new threshold, but would finish the next day. He failed to appear or communicate in any other way.
In the meantime, the tenant had discovered a damaged plank in the floor he had laid. It seems unlikely that he didn't notice the damage, but didn't bother to remove the plank and replace it with an intact plank.
The unfortunate outcome is that we've had to hire someone else to finish the job he didn't complete. I'm sure he's competent, just not very principled.

I contacted him on 3/9/14, and he said he could probably paint and do some other work on 3/19 and 3/20, and would call me. By 3/19 there is no call. I call again, and we set up an appointment for 9:00 on 3/27, with work to be completed on 3/27-3/28. I get the time off, prepare the house, and... no show. When I call, he has forgotten our appointment. An emergency had come up with a client, it would take all day to figure it out, he will call tomorrow. No calls that day, or for 6 more days, despite leaving several messages. When I finally reach him on 4/2, he has a personal emergency, and can't tell me when the work can happen - not even 3 weeks out. He keeps saying, "There is nothing I can do". Well, there is. Looking at the pattern of the past month, he is not the responsible professional he seemed to be in the past - he has failed to keep commitments three times. After several weeks of delays, I now have to scramble because guests are arriving...

I called
Albuquerque Carpenters Provider Name Locked
today and left a message giving him some details about what I was looking to do. He called back this evening and was polite, considerate and honest about his skill level vs. my carpentry plans. I appreciate an honest person who cares enough to return a call even though he passed on the job. Even though we didn't connect on this project, I will definitely keep him on my list for future projects.
