"Went incredibly well. Estimate was what I expected. Work was meticulous and with great attention to detail. We had walls and showers of vitrolite and
" was able to save it all for us...key importance to us. He arrived when he said, covered floors and work area and cleaned up at the end of the days. Am already thinking of a list of other items I need tackled in the future. work took six days total but we had no real inconvenience. Answered any and all questions I had. Very knowledgeable.

"Good work, fair prices. They worked really well with us. There was a leak from our ice dam, which resulted in water damage to a wall. They took apart the wall and" reconstructed it, then painted over it.
worked to give us the scope of work documentation so that I could put in an insurance claim for the damaged wall as well.

Drywall and plaster

Knowing how your interior walls are constructed and what they are made of can help you take better care of your home, as well as provide effective maintenance. You can make small repairs yourself, but the more extensive the job the more likely you'll need a drywall repair contractor to make the wall smooth again.

Plastering, Painting - Interior

Dear Angie: How important is it to repair plaster before repainting? Our ceilings have peeling paint that we’re pretty sure was caused by past water damage. Since the water problem is no longer an issue, can we simply repaint the ceilings or should we first repair any underlying plaster damage? – Sara S., Elgin, Illinois

My sister-in-law uses brite white toothpaste and rubs it into those small holes. No prep, no sanding.
?

I've used wall liner (it applies like wallpaper only thicker) to cover a multitude of "wall sins" over the years. In my opinion it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It doesn't look cheap or tacky, it's inexpensive, non-labor intensive and not messy to install.

I used it for the first time about 15 years ago to cover a faux brick tile on my lower kitchen walls that couldn't be removed. It was either tear the wall down or take a chance on $40 worth of wall liner. It did the job beautifully and lasted. Since then I've used it to cover paneling, a badly gouged wall after a kitchen remodel and a wall that looked like a pegboard after floor to ceiling shelving was removed.

Friends and family (and realtors!) have been amazed by the transformation after applying this simple inexpensive product.

?

Remember, you not only have to remove the popcorn texture, but also redo the ceiling in some other texture.

Price will depend on several factors:

1) how much the contractor you choose hates removing popcorn or textured ceilings - some charge $1 or so/SF extra just because they hate it. There are even some who bid total drywall replacement cheaper than removing the popcorn, so you have to first find contractors who are happy to do that work, or your prices will be out of the realistic range

2) if the popcorn predates about 1990, then it could likely have asbestos in it, which doubles or triples the price, and in many cases uncapsulating it with a spray coating and then removing the drywall entirely is actually cheaper than all the protective measures necessary if it is scraped off.

3) whether the popcorn is primarily gypsum and vermiculite (comes off REAL easy) or was the plaster of paris variety, which takes a fair amount of soaking to soften it enough to scrape off

4) what type of finish you are replacing it with - if a textured ceiling, slapcoat, knockdown finish or paneling, not real problem. If you want to go with a perfectly smooth ceiling (generally a bad idea as any variations in the drywall on a ceiling surface really shows up dramatically), then it will demand a lot of care in preparing the scraped surface, and a complete surface drywall compound skim coat to smooth out the scrapes and gouges from the removal process.

5) what underlying conditions are - if there is a lot of furniture to move around (should go to adjacent rooms) or cover and work around, high-quality rug or hardwood floor to super-protect or such, will drive cost up.

I have seen costs run from as low as $0.60/SF to $1.25/SF (for removal only). Generally, remove and recoat with a surface texture of some kind (anything but smooth) and paint will run you about $2.50-3.50/SF.

Now the bad news - if asbestos containing, can run from $5-10/SF. Many homeowners in that situation go the other legal route - have it encapsulated with an asbestos-rated sealant by an asbestos contractor, then paint it and leave it for the next homeowner to decide what to do about it. Some contractors encapsulate it and then put a 1/4" thick drywall layer over it - this usually looks like a disaster unless it has a VERY rough textured finish on it, because putting drywall sheet over a rough surface like popcorn invariably means a wavy surface commonly looks like a gently rolling ocean surface.

We were very impressed with
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
more than likely we would have hired him. He spent a long time reviewing the work that needed to be done as well as the insurance papers.
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
had said that more than likely he would email us the estimate for the work , that night.. Over the weekend I called
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
to remind him that I had not received his estimate. I also called three more times today and never a call back. I just do not understand why
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
would spend so much time looking over a job and never continue the process. We are very disappointed.

Again , contractor removed "rolled-bond-beam" pebble-tec product from circumference of pool that was exposed to the air/sun and had begun to crack and replaced with concrete slab. Also added tile border around pool, fixed cracks in existing concrete, re-coated/sealed all slabs (new and old) so everything looked new.
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the owner and worked with me on both price points, options, and advice. Everything went very well.
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
was great and his crew were friendly, focused on the work, completed the project ahead of schedule and did a great job with clean-up. Overall I felt like I got what I paid for and would use them in the future.

They did a great job; the touch-ups around the house were better than anything I could possibly do and the texture was kept so that it was impossible to tell that any work was done at all. The family room looks awesome with the new plaster and trim. They came early every day and communicated well with me and my husband what needed done. Very professional, my husband and I are very happy that we went with them.

The walls in our new place were so deeply textured and we really wanted them smooth. I did a lot of research and considered several approaches including resheetrocking the entire place.
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his sons came in and understood what we wanted, gave us a great bid and went to work. It was a big job and they were happy to come back twice to fix little issues that we all anticipated would appear as we scrutinized and painted. The walls are super smooth and look just the way we wanted them to.

This was the fourth time we've hired
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
of B&J Plastering to do plaster work in my 1925 lath and plaster house after some water intrusion/leaks and for general maintenance. This time,
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
repaired cracks due to settlement in every room of the house. He also repaired/replastered an area where we have had repeated leaks due to a leaky upstairs deck. In addition to the cracks in the ceilings/walls,
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
inspected the decking, waterproofed the entire perimeter of the deck and repaired some cracks/holes in the stucco walls and around the drain duct where he suspected water was intruding.
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
is prompt, neat and clean, very reasonably priced and a great guy to boot. We consider him a friend at this point. We recommend him without reservation.

was awesome, prompt responses, gave a quote based on the pictures I had sent him. Stopped by over the weekend to look at the work area and came back on Monday and completed the job.
Excellent finish and cleaned up the place after work.
I had another friend of mine who wanted similar service and I recommended

Called and
Princeton Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
came right out to give a quote. I made an appointment on a WEEKEND and they were there as prompt as she said they would be. It was an all day job and we were absolutely amazed at what an incredible job they did. You would never know there ever was damage done, nor that half of the dining ceiling was replaced. Very professional, polite and way above and beyond what you'd expect from any company. It does take a lot to have me make any response, but this company deserves it all!
