Physical medicine and rehabilitation

If an injury impairs your ability to do the things you usually do, you’ll likely see a physical therapist. Physical therapy is just one part of the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

In short-term rehab, patients can focus on recovery while strengthening their bodies.

Terrible experiences with Doctor and his staff in addressing my concerns and even getting an appointment. Lack of compassion and very clumsy with scheduling and communication. With history of miscarriage and baby death during labor, I wanted to avoid a painful EMG during possible pregnancy. When I phoned to ask about my concerns, the office told me I would need to make an appointment to ask my questions. So I scheduled and came in for a consult prior to my scheduled EMG. I recall wait time being something around 30 minutes. The consult ended up being with an assistant for the bulk of the time and I had about 3 to 4 minutes with Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
. The assistant examined me (which irritated my pain patterns resulting in increased pain for a couple days), but my questions did not got answered. Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
did present himself as very friendly, but friendliness without adequate time and responsiveness was not helpful. The worst is that they cancelled me out of my carefully timed EMG appointment and had no more availability that would work for me until over a month away. Due to my timing being a tad off having to estimate 2 cycles ahead (I needed one more day to confirm if I was pregnant or not) and also an immediate need to tend to an urgent health matter, I rescheduled my new appointment. Then, a few weeks later, they called to see if they could change the time on me. I accidentally deleted the message and was busy following up on more urgent matters so thought I'd wait for a second call or my confirmation phone call. Neither of which ever came. So now, 2 months and 5 days past the initial appointment that I wanted, I call to see if I am still in the schedule for today's appointment and for which time (my original or what they wanted to change me to). The receptionist replies that Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
has refused to see me or do my recommended EMG because of too many cancellations. So record here is 2 cancellations by them to 1 rescheduling (with over 48 hrs notice) by me. No communication about this decision was ever timely conveyed to me. This is very unprofessional and now means I went through that painful exam for no benefit to myself. They really need to get their act together! Cancelling and then changing appointment times and then blaming the patient is not acceptable. I do not recommend this office. I never got to find out if Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
is indeed knowledgeable and helpful as a pain management specialist, but I found out that his office is poorly managed with incompetent office staff and not compassionate to concerns or special needs. Additionally, they have refused me my records unless I come in in person to sign their specific release form. They have refused to mail or email me a copy of their release form which I could then send back signed. They refused to send a copy of my records to my primary physician without me coming in in person. The office is a considerable distance away given traffic. So in addition to lack of compassion and incompetency of support staff, there is also great inflexibility. Due to staff incompetency, I was put on hold for every question I asked and when the person returned I was given a
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
answer citing that was office policy. My appointment was cancelled, I have been refused services and convenient access to my records, and for this a good 45 minutes or more of my time was eaten up! I am beginning to think that even if Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
were the greatest doctor in the world, it would not be worth putting up with this treatment: blantant disregard of me, my concerns, and my time. It simply feels to me that Dr. Ankanah's office doesn't care about their patients.

Dr.

had a resident or Fellow take the history and do the initial exam. (I insisted that I was sure it was a "pinched nerve," since I had had that problem once before). The Fellow was skeptical, but didn't argue -- just showed me why she thought that it was CTS. Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
came in, did some evaluation, and explained with good humor -- and showed me -- why they thought it was CTS. I had an electromyogram which confirmed their diagnosis. He referred me for a wrist injection, saw me for follow-up, and referred me to a hand surgeon. I was able to discuss the risk-benefit of having my hand done before or after another another joint surgery, and he was helpful with that, warning me about the risk of possible nerve damage if there was a delay once the effects of the injection had worn off. I would see him again for any other physical problem like this, and would recommend him to others. He's the kind of physician that you don't often see anymore -- fully focused on the patient, not emitting a sense of being rushed or annoyed by questions, and able to really listen.

Diagnosed my pain a only due to swelling and gave me pain pills. Pain persisted and I attempted to set up a follow up appointment. His staff never called back to reschedule even after I left 3 messages. I went to another doctor who found that Dr Rudins had missed a torn meniscus and a cyst, that had to be corrected surgically.

2 months ago my wife suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Having survived initial care at a large city (
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
) medical center, she was transferred to
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Flagstaff, AZ. She was at that time nearly 100% disabled physically and mentally. 6 weeks later we took her home nearly totally recovered. (She always will have some residual from the hemorrhage.) Her rehab was excellent. An intelligent, well trained, well coordinated team really worked with her. The staff was alert, upbeat, and capable. The facility, recently redone, provided a comfortable setting. If I could, I would give them 7 or 8 out of 5 stars.

Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
knows her stuff. I have severe chronic Cluster Headaches as well as other neurological issues that leave me in constant pain. Before finding Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
I had just about lost all hope. Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
has treated my pain like no one else in the 22+ years I have had this condition. Some doctors just give shots while other doctors only prescribe medication in the field of pain management but Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
does a balance of both. She is without equal when it comes to nerve blocks. No other doctor has ever been able to reduce my pain with a shot other than Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
. She is amazing! She is no less amazing with her knowledge of meds as well. She was able to actually lower the amount of meds I was on but give me more relief by knowing which meds works better with my type of pain. Since my condition is so complicated doctors normally give up on me when the first few things they try fail to "fix me" as year by year I get worse. With Dr.
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
, its 100% different. For the first time, I have found a doctor that the longer I am in her care the better I feel.

I went through all treatments - I think there were 6 - and by 8 weeks from the start, the knee was very much improved and as of Feb 24th 2015, it is still much better. Supposedly lasts about 6 months and Medicare will allow another series.

She said that she could tell me two things for sure: 1) the problem was not in my back, and 2) my hip was fine. She gave me some cream to rub into the painful areas and some little exercises to do. Later she told me I had a hip fracture (which I did not), but I did require a hip replacement (diagnosed by another doctor). I was also diagnosed (by yet anoter doctor) with a serious spine condition. Needless to say, I do not trust Dr
Princeton Physical Rehabilitation Services Provider Name Locked
's judgment.
