I contacted a landscaper, Sharper Cut, off Angies list, list to address severe drainage issues on my property. These were especially apparent after the heavy rains in 2014, and my land had sunk down a couple of inches after the standing water finally went away.
After viewing my property, Sharper Cut recommended getting a civil engineer for a design and recommended
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
. This made sense to me, as I had previously contacted another landscaper who proposed work that would clearly not have addressed the issue and another who didn't want to take on the work.
After completing the survey,
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
met with me to discuss the proposed design and to address any questions.
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
explained reasons for various aspects of the design, clearly taking pride in the work. There will be a couple of minor changes to the design following our meeting. The design clearly solves the problem, and I was impressed by the creativity in solving issues caused by the
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
of the land.
A copy of the final design will be sent to Sharper Cut, who will do the installation.

Very pleased with the engineering services provided.

Freely, project engineer answered all my questions and explained in detail the foundation of the house and any issues that might comprise the foundation. As it turns out my residence had no major problems or structural damage, outside of a few vertical cracks in foundation which is due to normal settling. He further explained if I had major foundation damage I would see diagonal cracks appearing.
The engineer's report furnished to me was exactly what I needed which was included in the $500. cost.

was very professional and would highly recommend him.

was the Structural Engineer with whom I contracted to do the work. He was very professional and responsive to phone calls and emails. I sent him a copy of the home inspection in advance of meeting him at the site. He provided a preliminary estimate based on the home inspection documents and then revised after he actually crawled around and did a more thorough inspection. He came well prepared, told me what he was going to do, provided a timeframe for the plans and sent me two hard copies of plans that I could provide to General Contractors. He also provided me with a couple of General Contractors with whom he had worked in the past. I felt that I received excellent service at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend use of this firm and should I need these types of services in the future will contact them again.

It went very well from start to finish.
He responded to my initial email the same day! Although in the scheme of his business this is a small project, was timely and prompt at each step.
His professionalism was in contrast to other engineers who did not respond to multiple voice mail requests.
At every step of the evaluation, he was adept at explaining the engineering issues in
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
's language. Furthermore, gave us detailed task lists on the steps for restoration.
As we initiate the restoration project, will consult with him on any unforeseen issues or project clarification.
Happy to recommend

Called and left message for inspection. Had a day and time scheduled within 3 days or so. Provided insite and information during the inspection and actually lowered price right there when he was certain not a foundation problem but a tree issue as he didn't need to do survey.

Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
did an excellent job for us. We were having problems with water in our basement and, because of multiple issues with the slope and drainage of our house, and some exterior cracks in the brick foundation, our contractor recommended we have
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
look at the house and discover exactly what the problem was. He was extremely thorough. He had initially come to discuss foundation problems, but stayed and did a whole-house inspection to discover what, exactly, was causing the cracks in our bathtub tile surround and the ceilings in our dining room/living room combination.
The resulting report was comprehensive and detailed all of the problems he discovered, along with solutions. In many cases, he gave us several options to choose that would take care of the issue.
We are extremely grateful that he took the time to check out all of the issues, not just the foundation cracks we had called to have him look at. We would have gone on to remodel our bathroom, and fix the ceiling issues thinking that a sinking foundation was the cause, only to have them re-crack because of structural beam problems!!
We would definitely recommend him to anyone wishing a thorough home structural/foundation/construction examination and report. He is a joy to work with. We were lucky to find him.

I am a 66 year-old woman in escrow for a lovely home precariously perched on a hill above a creek. The generic "home inspection" by another professional raised questions that needed a greater level of expertise. I have no skills or experience in sorting out such issues, and found this foreign content area intimidating. I nervously committed to
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
's fee, without really knowing what I was asking for.
Now that it's all over, I can shout IT WAS A BARGAIN!
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
did a thorough examination, pinpointed the issues, and provided clear, concise suggestions for correction. I understand it and I know what to do next. AND, the corrections are affordable.
He patiently walked me through the entire process, teaching me a great deal, and increasing my comfort level immeasurably. His knowledge is deep and wide, and he is very easy to work with.
I endorse him without reservation!

The evaluation and subsequent report were very high quality. Given that the house was occupied at the time of the structural inspection, the information gleaned was fairly thorough. The inspector was himself a structural engineer and very open in discussing his observations and answering my questions. The inspection took a couple of hours, focusing on the foundation and basement. The basement was unfinished and this provided an opportunity to inspect the floor joists and other structures that tied into the foundation. This is important since if these types of structures are concealed, the inspection is likely to be incomplete, even though other observations may suggest no structural issues are present. The other floors (3 total not including the basement) were also inspected, with extra time devoted to cracks (on walls and tile floors) and disjointed structures (such as window and door frames). Miscellaneous floor sections, steps, and walls were checked for level and plumb. After the full inspection, the engineer discussed his observations and noted some key areas to keep watch on and/or look into repairing. These were also mentioned in the final written report. This final report was provided within a few days of the inspection and signed off on by a PA licensed engineer. Although the report did provide pictures to supplement the text, they did provide higher resolution pictures on request. Overall an excellent experience and it provided me with a good amount of information. I would certainly recommend BE Structural. Anyone buying an older house, it is worth the investment in this inspection (in addition to your regular home inspection).

Very professional.
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
was responsive, punctual and detailed. We needed our foundation inspected, as we have one side of our house with brick that has moved inwards. We were afraid of the stability of these bricks and also wanted to know the cause, so it could be fixed. After his inspection, he made a rough drawing and discussed all the details thoroughly with us. He also saved us a lot of money. We were ready to spend a lot of money on having a whole wall of brick removed, each brick cleaned, and then rebrick the wall - not cheap!! His report indicated we were fine and this was not necessary.

Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
did a great job. Of course, our job ended up being more complex than we or he thought it would be. We had original plans for the house which showed what should be under the big pillar underground, so
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
first gave us a solution based on that. Unfortunately, after we dug down we saw that the pillar was not built on the foundation that the architectural plans showed, so
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
had to make a new plan to fix our unique problem.
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
did a great job making a good, solid design and even recommended and brought in a good construction crew to do the job. It was extremely helpful to have
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
work directly with the construction crew to describe what he needed them to do so I didn't have to be in the middle.
Newark Structural Engineers Provider Name Locked
was thorough in creating the plans and following through with the whole job. Would definitely use him again.
