"From the quote forward my experience with this provider was positive. He was direct, knowledgeable and reassuring. The cabinetry needing repair was otherwise beautiful" and a mere 8 years old so I was very nervous about what might need to be done. I couldn't be more pleased with the result.

"Overall, they did a good job.
was particularly attentive and responsive to any and all questions I had, even when it involved a problem" with the work being done - of which there was really only one (problem). The crew always arrived on time, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. The overall quality of the work they did was quite good, including all the prep work. Prior to the start of the job, we agreed on the brand and quality of paint and solid stain that would be used, and on the number of coats that would be applied. At times, there were a few communication difficulties because most (or all) of his crew is Spanish speaking. Most, though, could understand sufficient English for all of us to make our needs known to each other, and there was always (at least) one crew member with reasonably good English speaking capabilities. (I, on the other hand, would have a REAL problem if I were in Mexico or S. America working for a family who understood no English. They would have to haul in a translator for me.) In any case,
was almost always available by phone, and was very responsive to any questions I had about the work that was being done. During the course of the job, which ended up being spread out over a number of weeks, a few additional paint jobs were added, as I was having other interior work done at the same time.
even arranged - at the last minute - to have a few of his crew come in on a Sunday to paint some trim in a room where the floors had been refinished the prior week, so that we could bring our furniture back into the room on Monday. I could not have asked for more. There was one problem that developed (or, actually, was discovered) after completion of the work. During the prep work, the crew, who apparently was not familiar with casement windows, caulked around all the edges of the "swing" portion of the casements, essentially sealing them shut. (To their credit, they did a superior job of sealing those windows closed.) When this was discovered several days after they had finished painting, I called
to tell him. I think it was the very next day that he sent several people over to cut through the caulking ... and this is where the one problem occurred. In cutting through the caulking on several of the windows, they actually cut through the weather stripping that is built into the windows.
came back a day or so later to look at the issue ... we agreed that the weather stripping would have to be replaced on the affected windows, and it seems that it will be an easy enough job to do. But I did not want to take a
that some other unanticipated problem come up which could delay the completion of the replacement of the weather stripping in the middle of the job just as the weather was getting cold. I knew that as long as the windows stayed closed, there would be no cold air leaking through the casement edges and the existing weather stripping would hold. So, it was my decision to wait until the weather begins to warm up, at which time
will be contacted ... I am confident that we will correct the problem at that time.

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
?
Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!

Yes - absolutely!  Refinishing is THE VERY BEST way to go to avoid tearing out a perfectly good bathtub that just LOOKS bad after years of use.  Go to the link below for some before and after refinishing pictures of acrylic tubs.

It all honesty it went well. However, I did ask him for a quote to stucco my brick wall and paint it to match the house. He never provided a quote for that work. He also stated that he would pay a referral fee to anyone who I recommended. I recommended two people and I know one used him and I never received a referral fee.
His brother painted our house next door. We live in a gated community and they homeowners wanted to change the color of the house paint and of course, to do this you have to go through the

We had a wonderful experience with
Raymond Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and all the crew at
Raymond Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
. They started by repainting the entire interior of a new home we purchased, then they came back and did the exterior too. They were quick to work us into their schedule and their work was very professional. They were the only contractor we contacted about paint that gave us a real guarantee that the work would all be done correctly. That included fixing drywall, repairing wood framing, and fading out old murals and weird wall colors that would otherwise bleed through. Their guarantee is also quite good. I definitely recommend this company and we will use them again for any paint needs we have in the future.

I was unhappy with caulking done and the way the paint was applied. They preferred roller and I wanted it brushed on. They returned and redid areas of my concern.

said in his contract that he would prime and paint two coats of paint on my house, plus the prep work of course. My house in from the 1960's.
Raymond Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
did not prime anything all though there was clearly bare wood in many places all over the house. He told me that the
Raymond Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
super paint he used was good as a primer and a paint so it did not need to be primed. I believed him. He painted one coat on most of the house, some parts had not even gotten one coat of paint they were still white and unprimed, He said the next day the job was going to be finished. I asked him about the second coat, when was he going to do that? He said that when spraying, that going back and forth is two coats even though it does not dry between coats. I researched the paint and found out that it is not suitable as primer, even though it is good paint. It also needs two separate coats with drying time between. I emailed him to tell him that fact, and he came very early the next day and took all his stuff. So now my house has one very streaky coat of paint and many oversprays.
While he was there, he worked erratically, an hour one day, a few hours another day. He worked a total of seven separate days and the hours he was here totaled 32 hours. He had himself and one other person for five of those days, and he mostly told the guy what to do and did nothing himself. the last two days were the 7 hour days and he had two other guys, one who was clearly working his first day with
Raymond Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
.Again,
Raymond Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
did not work he directed the whole time.
The person who worked with him the first five days made many inappropriate comments to me and I felt uncomfortable though I laughed it off at the time. This may not matter to most people: there was one of those big fuzzy orange and black caterpillars walking on the house and they just sprayed over it with paint.
The whole experience was awful from start to finish. If you even think of working with this guy ask around first. Ask at the local paint stores if you should work with him. While you are asking, get a painter that they suggest and use them. After I got other estimates to fix the job Superior Painting did I found out from the painters that he has the worst reputation. Get references and do not trust the reviews on this site because this is not a good or honest or pleasant person to do your work for you.

He first provided us a estimate that was right in the middle of the other three estimates. He gave us a start date and showed up on time. He gave us a personal walk around before starting the project with his crew manager, (

to do some interior work as well. He was a pleasure to work with you would recommend to anyone. I know my neighbors will be calling him in the spring. Thanks
