"The first new patient receptionist left to go ask about a patient who did not have insurance the practice accepted. Over 15 minutes left hanging. I was given a" stack of forms which I could have brought completed, my appointment had been scheduled for three weeks, and then rescheduled with another provider. I then waited for the providers secretary. As I waited, I heard her tell one patient he had a large bill, and insist she stop and walk him to billing on the other side. Meanwhile three patients waited to check in. Eventually, someone else offered to wait on me, and then took another patient. As far as the provider he was a surgeon, in the end, I would have been scheduled for injections and needed to go back to an originally scheduled pain specialist versus surgeon. After a one hour wait they called the patient after me, I told them I wanted my forms and was leaving. The manager would ONLY accept my being seen by the PA, more waiting for me. Remember I was scheduled to see a doctor, and yes they can bill insurance for my seeing the PA, or she offered to reschedule me. The doctor was running 35 minutes late, I would
seen after the PA, however, I didn't trust it to be another 35 minutes. Last time I checked I was not a
. She walked me to the door and threatened me, I took my papers and left.....RUN do not walk from this practice, I was in so much pain the day I was there. They lack of compassion is very evident, but obviously they have a large referral base. I was also threatened with the manager calling my PCP. Luckily, she is not on their side but mine, and not part of this referral base.

"My husband dropped something heavy on his big toe and it needed to be treated. We both felt comfortable from the minute we walked into the office. The woman at the" front desk was very pleasant and professional. Dr.
herself was wonderful. Have you ever gone to a specialist who was so great that you found yourself wishing that the specialist could be your primary care physician? That was how my husband and I felt about her. She answered our questions using language that we understood without ever talking down to us. My husband and I will absolutely use her again and refer her to others.

Sports medicine professionals are specially trained to diagnosis, treat and help patients prevent injuries that occur during sports. They also focus on the therapeutic aspects of everyday physical activity.

If a concussion occurs while participating in a sport, as it did to Woodbridge, Va., high schooler Simon Maybee, it's important to see a doctor with experience in diagnosing and treating concussions. (Photo by Meredith Rizzo)

Arthroscopy to repair torn meniscus April 2014. Entire leg bruised 2-3 weeks post-op. Knee would not straighten, foot crooked, great pain walking, no change after 4 months twice weekly Physical Therapy. Dr. never examined knee after surgery, never asked me to walk, no X-rays taken. Said all was normal, some patients take longer to heal. During

Not a single call from Dr. - either immediately after surgery, after extreme bruising, after continued pain. Maximum time spent in post-op office visits 5 minutes. No bedside manner, no caring attitude. Clearly not invested in less than successful outcomes.
8 months after surgery, walking not improved, extremely painful, using cane. Consulted another surgeon - now full knee replacement required.

He takes the time to explain what is wrong and all the treatment options. I have seen him 3 times in total and he makes you feel like he will spend all the time you need him to with you.

Field was very unprofessional and very rude. I cannot believe how I was treated there. They're nice there. There are at least 60 people in the waiting room. You wait for an amount of time and they get you back. He's very rushed. He's not personable. It was a mediocre visit. I couldn't get back to him because it's the holidays. He rushed it and he was really unpersonable. I mentioned that I fell. He was sitting on the bed and I was sitting on the chair. He leapt off the bed and started talking to me in a very loud voice getting up in my face and telling me that he will do the surgery on me. I literally started crying. I was horrified. I was in severe pain trying to get something done of my shoulder. I was traumatized. I went to have an appointment with another doctor. I was so upset.

was recommended by a walk-in clinic. When I entered the office, the two ladies at the front desk were not unfriendly, but they weren't the kind to go out of their way to provide great service. At the second osteopathic surgeon's office that I ended up going to, the front desk had Ipads for patients to use, and were quick to offer their assistance, which makes it so much easier if someone has a broken arm or hand, but at Dr.
Portsmouth Sports Medicine Doctors Provider Name Locked
's office, they just had everyone filling out paper forms by hand. The wait was quite long and the Physician's Assistant was not particularly welcoming or engaged. He only asked a few questions, told me to remove my splint and then - as it turned out -the office visit notes that I requested copies of the next day were not even accurate. The office visit notes indicated that I had denied having any food allergies when in fact, no one asked me that question and I do have food allergies; the notes also indicated that I had denied having any fall, trauma. pain, stiffness or swelling, when in fact, I came in with a broken hand that certainly was from a trauma, fall and resulted in pain, swelling and stiffness. Finally, Dr.
Portsmouth Sports Medicine Doctors Provider Name Locked
entered the treatment room and didn't even make eye contact with me. He took a precursory look at my x-rays, asked me to cross my fingers, then slumped into a chair and said I would need surgery right away. He didn't touch my hand or palpate the swelling nor did he explain the nature of the fracture and damage, what exactly he would be doing and what the non-surgical alternatives might be. He said that he would have them schedule the surgery asap, so that my bones don't fuse together. I tried to get more details from the Physician's Assistant on my way out, specifically about what my non-surgical options were and he said, high risk of arthritis and other issues, but didn't really address treatment options. The office visit notes that I got also stated that the doctor had reviewed with me all non-operative treatment options, when that was not the case. I was not at all pleased that this surgeon's office would charge me $250 and not even give me a full and accurate evaluation. I left feeling that I had not gotten a full picture and I cancelled the surgery date and opted to get a 2nd opinion from another doctor. I am so glad that I did, as it turns out that - after looking at an MRI (which Dr.
Portsmouth Sports Medicine Doctors Provider Name Locked
's office did not even recommend getting), - the 2nd osteopathic surgeon said that I have a 95%

The surgeon was cautious and took a progressive approach with pain pills first, then a steroid injection with followup X-rays, MRI and finally rotator cuff surgery (one month after initial visit) followed by physical therapy. Overall, the most professional and competent medical group I have encountered. In addition, each person acts as if they are concerned about your personal well-being rather than treating you as just another patient.
