"The company called twice to confirm appointment which was set up several weeks ago, and arrived on time. Got down to business right away. I was expecting to have" to clean up after the job was done, but no need. Vinny was very professional, clearly explained what he was going to do. Discussed options with me in terms of repairs without any sales pressure. Expected a so-so job, but was impressed. Highly recommend.

"Tech was great. We finished a large restore of an older home and he cleaned all of the ducts and vents very well. It took 4hrs and he worked! In some of the vents" there was over a 1/2" of dirt and dust.

gas fireplace with fire burning
Fireplaces, Chimney Sweep, Plumbing

Dear Angie: How much can I expect to pay to have my wood fireplace converted to gas? Our house is about 30 years old. The bottom of the fireplace looks like it's easily accessed through the basement. The conversion would involve running 30 to 50 feet of gas line. — Thomas M., Cincinnati, Ohio

Mad Hatter arrived on time and with a cloth to cover rugs. Once man vacuumed while another went up on the roof to sweep the chimney and inspect it. They found damage I was unaware of to the chimney cap presenting pictures of my roof as documentation and gave me an estimate on the spot.
Fast service, they were in did the job, and out, in 30 minutes.

Damage to the interior of the chimney lining was discovered during cleaning / inspection. The issue was serious enough and clearly detailed and documented by inspection - that home insurance was contacted and completed the repair cost with same company, strongly based on positive reputation of company. A caste in place chimney liner was used, the only downside was waiting for the correct temperature outside, with the bitter icy cold spell, we waiting for a bit. At times felt like we were forgotten by company, however with each call we did get reassurance that we were on the list. Responsiveness was my only low score (B) for this company as I was happy with the end result. Very thorough and decent initial inspection which carried through the entire process.

It was okay, but he was not able to perform some extra service/repairs that we needed. I did not have realistic expectations, either, as I thought he would also clean the firebox. It seemed just a cursory look and not an extensive cleaning. He was nice to recommend a company that can do the needed repairs. I graded down professionalism, as he wore his Boy Scout leader shirt rather than a company shirt or typical work clothes.

The company contacted me right away to schedule an appointment. The service was scheduled for 9am on a Wednesday. I received a call on Monday to reschedule to 10:30am Wednesday. That was fine, I noted it and adjusted my schedule. I was walking my dog in the neighborhood around 9am on Wednesday and saw the

van go by! Granted, he had called, but from a Michigan number so I hadn't answered (and my hand was too sweaty to swipe to accept the call!) So they showed up nearly a the originally scheduled time. The tech,

, was courteous and professional. He explained the process and what he was doing. He showed me photos of the inside of the chimney and the top of the chimney from the roof inspection that he'd done. He made recommendations and was out the door in a little over an hour. I would recommend the company and use them again!

The job went really really good. We will definitely be calling them again for more jobs that we need to have done around our house. If you are looking for good service and good prices then I would definitely call them.

Bought a Angie's List Big Deal for a $99 for a Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up, Cleaning, and Inspection. The technician that arrived was prompt, called ahead, and was very professional. He inspected our gas log and quickly noted that it was quite old (likely the original with the house) and needed to be replaced. He checked the pilot and found it to not be functioning. The entire gas log assembly needed to be replaced. He wrote up the service, gave us information about new gas logs, and was done. The visit took less than 30 minutes. He mentioned that the inspection cost was $79, but I paid $99 for the deal. I did not receive a tune-up or cleaning, but that was because the unit was beyond repair. Unfortunately, several days after the service was provided, we did smell gas in the fireplace. We weren't sure if the unit wasn't turned off properly, or began to fail worse than before. We had to turn off the main gas line to the fireplace. This wasn't a problem prior to the service. Not blaming the company or technician, but this was our experience. Overall I was happy with the company and technician, but feel that I overpaid for the services provided by buying the deal off Angie's List

Mr.
Plymouth Chimney Sweeps Provider Name Locked
was the 4th company I contacted. As part of the items we needed to fix for the sale of our home, we needed someone to install a chimney cap and inspect the area around it, as there was a small plant growing out of it. The first company came and did an inspection and said the entire area around the chimney cap needed to be redone, as well as a new flue, at a cost of $2800. Second company never showed. Third company said he wouldn't come out unless I agreed to install a chimney cap that cost $350. Finally read the reviews on Angie's List for

Chimney and while I played telephone tag with Mr.

for a few days, he was extremely responsive. He came out, installed a new chimney cap, and sealed some minor cracks around the area.
Very professional and trustworthy and I highly recommend this contractor.

They put new custom fitting cap on and no more bats in the house. I had considered calling a local "batman" service for $1,700 . Thank goodness I called a-1preferred first
