Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Reviews

"My husband and I picked out the new cabinets, flooring, and tiles ourselves.

The problems began almost immediately. When my husband had ordered the bamboo flooring, he had been assured by the salesman at the lumber place that the bamboo flooring we had ordered was one that they kept plenty of in stock. But, as we weren't sure of what trim pieces to buy, we were told that they would definitely be available. So,

went to the lumber place one night early on to get the bullnose. Apparently, they were out.
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
phoned us up and started yelling at us, saying that he never should have taken the job since he wasn't in complete control of the ordering, etc. and he was going to
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
some other work if this job got delayed. My husband went to the lumber place, and special ordered some product that would be there the next day, so
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
wouldn't be delayed. As it turns out, even though we spent the extra money to get the trim pieces to
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
the next day, he didn't install them until a few days later.

One of the new cabinets that
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
tried to install was not a good fit; it hit the ceiling.
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
wasn't happy about the delay in getting a new one, and made some snide comments on several occasions about the incompetence of the company from whom we bought the cabinets. He started the first of many tirades with "I'm not making any money."

We did not measure for the kitchen tile ourselves, but relied on the company from whom we ordered the tile. We ran short of some of the tiles used for a subway effect.
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
blew up over this, but we were able to move forward by just cutting the remaining tiles in half. So, when the bullnose tile ran out before the job was finished, he walked off the job, after yelling at my husband. So, my husband ran out and found some bullnose, but the color was off a little;
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
came back the next day and installed it. I wasn't happy with the color difference and telephoned
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to have him come back and fix it. He called to say he would, and that's the last we've heard from him. That was well over 1 month ago.

Installing the appliances was another source of irritation for
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. He yelled at my husband when he hadn't had the delivery people remove protective plastic from the refrigerator; also because he had to level the refrigerator. When the new
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was in place,
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
refused to lower it to the top of our new counters (because it wasn't his job???). He only did it when my husband refused to give him his last payment.

Also, we had asked for
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to hire a master electrician because we were taking the kitchen down to the studs and wanted to make sure we were within code. He hired the master electrician, but accused the electrician of holding up his own work.
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
told my husband that all billing for the electrician was to go through him. Well, I guess the tile fiasco was the last straw for
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
because he had the electrician bill us directly. Unfortunately, we had paid
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
off (assuming that we still had a little leverage because the electrician bills were to go through him). So, we have no pull for
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to come back to finish the job.

In summary, we would not let
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
into our house, let alone hire him again!

"The bathroom looks amazing now. The tile floor is beautiful and very well done. I very much feel like I got my money's worth. I'm going to have him come back in a couple months for some more work on other parts of the house.

I needed a contractor to take care of re-doing the bathroom because the old sink had a leak in the drain. Because I don't go into the cabinet the sink was on very often and everything I need in there is right at the front, I didn't notice the leak for some time (luckily all water damage was confined to the cabinet). Since the previous owner didn't put the flooring under the cabinet, new flooring was going to be needed. From talking with
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, I decided on a tile floor. When we got to talking about what pattern to use for the tile, I just assumed it would be a grid pattern, but he recommended to have the rows offset. Going with the offset looks so good and I'm glad he recommended it.

The plumber that took care of installing the new sink did a great job. The pipes and drain in the wall needed to be moved over and aligned (I went with a pedestal style sink) as well as the sink being installed. Both times he came over, he was on time, friendly, and worked quickly and thoroughly.

In addition to the work
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
did in the bathroom, he took the time to give me very good advice for home repair, which since I'm new to owning a home I needed. He also took the time to answer any questions I had, about this and future projects.

"I called and spoke to someone about a price quote to have my bathroom remodeled and was informed that regardless of whether I was keep my existing tub and used a
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
over or had my tub replaced that the cost would be the same. The woman informed me that to do the tub alone with the back surround was going to be between 5,000 and 6,000. That did not include anything else in the bathroom. I would suggest using another contractor because that is a ridiculous sum of money.

"Initial progress was fast. Back door was moved, siding installed and deck extension were done in two days. Carrying beam was replaced and drywall also went up quickly. Once the finish carpenters go to work, they discovered more problems with the cabinets than had been detected when the job was estimated.
There appeared to be multiple issues catering to and working around the finish carpenters' schedule and we experienced more delays with this stage of the project than we were happy with. Being told that the lead carpenter only worked a half day on the first day so he could watch a baseball game didn't help as it
Manchester Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to us being pushed back more days until he was available again. In the end, his assistant ended up doing the majority of the work.
One chief complaint...prior to the cabinet work beginning, we were told that we were short and needed to order additional pieces of our special order, non returnable cabinet trim, which we did. Later when the project was complete and the trim unused, the Project Manager admitted that he hadn't checked the materials thoroughly and had missed them. We strongly felt that we shouldn't have to pay for his error and that the cost of the uneeded trim should be deducted from our final invoice. He did not agree saying that the project had ended up being more work than he had estimated and that he'd had to pay the lead carpenter more than anticipated.
The project was wrapped up and final invoice paid on April 19th Sceptre in about 3 weeks (original estinate had been a week to 10 days). We are generally happy with the work that was performed by Sceptre but remain frustrated that we had to pay for their error.
We won't be in a hurry to do any remodeling anytime soon, but depending on the job, we may or may not consider them again.

"Lots of issues during the process, questionable hours, poor communication, unplanned work completed at our expense without our consent, he brought in his electrician while we were away who ended up doing work that cost 3 times what was estimated without gaining our consent ahead of time, then on February 1, within hours of the kitchen becoming functional after installation of the countertops, he claimed he was injured and quit, though interestingly all of his tools and equipment had already been removed from the house. We received his final invoice in the mail a few days later where he jotted a brief note informing us he would not be finishing the job. Few apologies and no further assistance was offered.

As we have had multiple contractors through the house to inspect the work and provide us estimates to finish it, they all pointed to the same errors that needed to be fixed. The carrying beam he installed where the wall came down was installed incorrectly and was not to code and had to be replaced, most of the upper cabinets were not positioned correctly on the walls, nor were they plumb. They all had to be removed and rehung. Rather than hard wiring for under cabinet lights, he cut holes in the back of our new cabinets and installed outlets. Now with dishes in the cabinets and a plug in the outlet, the cabinet doors do not close appropriately. Several areas of the tile floor that he installed are popping, movement can be felt and the tiles will not hold the grout. Materials that we did not need were special ordered at our expense and cannot be returned and the majority of the materials we purchased for the job ended up being discarded because the work had to be redone.

The cost of bringing someone in to complete and fix someone else's work has significantly exceeded our budget for this project. VERY dissatisfied and proceeding with legal action.

"Very pleasant to deal with. Worked with us to secure stock of the stone we wanted which was on backorder. Installation went well. Very pleased with the finished product so far. Only thing that's gone smoothly on this remodel to date.
