"Our installer,
, was much more of a craftsman than his job title implies. He did a beautiful job, fielded our numerous questions with" great professionalism, and made great suggestions.
even took care to leave the work in progress in such a condition that our cats would not hurt themselves if they accidentally got in the room. Our shower is now nicer than those of many luxury hotels we have stayed in!

"The initial scheduling didn't go as planned as I was told two weeks to start and it started on three weeks. Due to that, I had my doubts at the beginning but" they proved me wrong! So far I like the work they have done and I plan on hiring again to do my other bathroom.

Your kitchen is arguably the most important room in your home. It should be attractive, stylish, comfortable and functional. Remodeling a kitchen can dramatically enhance the appeal of your home to potential buyers.

Angie's Answers

?

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
?
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

When I bought my house in
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, I inherited a mostly functional, but hideous, full bathroom -
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
yellow mismatched tiles with burgundy trim, a shower door that worked if the door was lifted and then opened/closed, very little storage, and poorly lit and vented. I purchased the Big Deal offered by J and B for the remodel, and
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
helped me to pick out materials (which I have no eye for), and agreed to removed an odd, useless lower ceiling over the shower (apparently this was supposed to be decorative - the result is that everyone in my family felt trapped in a water tank, and the low ceiling molded from the shower stream.
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
's crew came in and gutted the room, which was already an improvement. They made improvements to the guts of it to bring it to code and opened up that low ceiling over the shower (this was an upcharge from the Big Deal, but worth it), and installed all of the materials that I selected. The end result is amazing. We all love it. The guys left the house cleaned up from dust or debris every day when they left, and made sure my cats didn't escape for an afternoon run in the neighborhood.
The work was completed in December, so I am overdue in submitting this review. There was an internal part in the shower fixture that had a manufacturers defect, and was causing occasional dripping. I reached out to
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
just this past week, and he was very responsive and timely about replacing it. I would definitely call on

again for future work.

From start to finish, the experience was great - the paperwork was detailed, the design was thorough, the workmanship was detailed and the result was outstanding!
Ours was a big project involving structural wall removal, garage door relocation, plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring and cabinets. We also pushed the design with custom stonework on the kitchen counter wall and backlit onyx for backsplash!
We were in good hands with

's project coordination,
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
's captaincy and the talented, professional team of Vladmir, Vasyl and
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked

Would love to work with them again!

Very happy we chose Classic. I had so much going on from garage door installation to outside work. To say the least my house was chaos in numbers. The team worked straight through and completed all of my bathrooms on time and with out complaint! I am very happy with the work and will not hesitate to call them again.

My first impression was that
they would do great because they came in and in one day they completely
gutted and got rid of everything but things quickly went downhill.
Lot's of things were mis-measured. In fact when they installed the
microwave they were so off that I couldn't even reach it - I thought it ...More /> was a joke and they were annoyed I made them come back to redo it.
Several of my cabinets doors don't hang straight and they did a really
bad job painting. Worse than that it took months to complete my tiny
little kitchen. My guess was they had bigger jobs going on and sandwiched in the work on my place in between.

we've used
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
for years for appliances and knew they had a kitchen design department. So when we decided to finally remodel our kitchen, we started working with them on the project. We did make inquiries to the other designers in the area, but quickly zeroed in on
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
.
Working with their designer,
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, we went through an exhausting but pleasurable project to perfect the plan for our kitchen. It took us over a month to make the decisions we needed to do to insure the design is what we wanted. Once we had our plans nailed down, we set the start date for our project a few weeks out.
The crew showed up on time and went to work gutting our old kitchen. We had a closet in the corner of the kitchen that we were taking out to make the kitchen larger and the team discovered some framing issues that they fixed for us.
The entire project took 5 weeks and was well worth the effort. We're delighted at the results of this project.
We highly recommend

was great to work with. I had another quote from a firm that was $10,000 higher for the same type of work, but
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
had more creative ideas and used higher quality materials (custom cabinets and natural stone flooring for example).
Our project in the master bath was a total gut down to the studs/drywall and the hall bath was just countertops, sinks, faucets, mirrors and lighting.
He answered all of our questions and was very fair with any changes we requested along the way. His workers were neat, hard working, polite and dependable.
The tile work using natural stone was outstanding!

We paid "$250 for Custom Home Remodel or Addition CAD Design Plus a $3,500 Credit". Our budget was tight so we requested a detailed estimate expecting to get a list of the costs of the changes we wanted made. Which we planned, would pair down to fit our budget about $20,000. We're expecting twins and need the space. If we had to, we would need to move and the renovations would go a long way to make our house more appealing, or more livable if we stay.
At our appointment on November 28th 2014 we walked them through our basement. Not fully understanding the process, I guess we made some mistakes in our communication, as we learned when we received our first estimate. We showed them every issue we had with the basement, which is where I think we went wrong. We wanted to see what they could do for us to make the mostly unfinished basement more livable, and we had some ideas. We also had old architectural plans of our house we gave them to help in their estimate, but told them they were not what we needed, they were just to help in the measurements for the estimate. We expected that we would receive a break down of the cost per changes and we would select the changes we could afford. We did communicate our expectations to them at the time of the walk through.
The first estimate we received (December 15th 2014) from them was for $80,384.10 dollars to renovate our basement in 6 weeks. The costs were not specifically itemized. Man hours, lumber, drywall, insulation, nothing. Taken a little aback we asked them just for our bathroom to be remodel and to remove a wall. The result was another emailed estimate that was $45,060.00 with no break down of costs per change, and would take them 6 weeks. If we wanted them to paint they would have to add $3,600.00 and another week to the project. A little frustrated with them I had to take a copy of our basement layout and edit the image of the plans to show them exactly what we exactly wanted. On January 15th 2015 we received a reasonable estimate for about $20,000 and the estimate did have a breakdown of all the work that would be done but no costs were associated with them and it excluded all finishes to the basement.
In the end we ended up going with a different contractor that was under our budget, could work on our pre-babies timetable, and seemed to be more connected to us. Originally we felt like we had been charged $250 to let people walk through our house, and had felt taken advantage of. The process was harder and longer than it should have been. We never did receive the "CAD" drawings that were supposed to be included. They did return our architectural drawings after we asked for them.
One thing, this may just be a personal opinion/
Farmington Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, that annoyed me; through the whole process, all but the last time they sent us an estimate it said "Good Faith Estimate". Is there such a thing as a "Bad Faith Estimate"? What did that even mean? Couldn't the estimates have been labeled "{name}_Estimate_{date}.pdf? It just felt weird, like they didn't trust us.
