As stated above, it can vary between companies.
Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.
With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.
Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

I have never seen one of this type that does not exit the house. You would not want the grease dumping into your basement, even with a filter it will happen.
The greater part of your job will be carpentry as if there is a wall behind the stove a hole will have to be cut up through the basement into the wall up to the stove. Unless it is one of the stoves that allows for it to fit inside a cabinet below. To answer correctly most here would be a picture of where this project is being done. I have done motorized ones that extend up out of the counter when in use and then retract. Those exit through the cabinet and require the cook top is to the front of the counter and not a drop in one
As an added note these tend to be better as they do not pull the heat away from the stove top when in use as much as the ones flush with the stove. I have install quite a few and happen to have an Amana cook top with built in down draft and I have to shut it of to get water to boil on the back burners.
A carpenter will know what can be cut and what not in the basement, a sheet metal contractor should know as well but at the other end for the finish by the stove they might not. Most carpenters that do kitchens have installed the minimal amount of duct work for this. They just have to be carefull with the number of ellbows and the lenght of the duct.

I wish we had used him the first time, because I would rather have someone who costs a little more but does their work in careful precision than get the sloppy corner cutting mess we got with the installers we used before.
I did not realize that when you plan to buy appliances, bring
I called him and he said that he could not make 9am but could do 1pm. I asked what company and he said he was an independent contractor. The next day at 1:30 I called him, he said his truck's water pump had broken and he would be coming in his personal car. He arrived at 2:30 with another person in a separate car. They spend 45 minutes to determine that it was a broken regulator switch which they did not have the part and would return tomorrow.
At this point I asked about the charge and was told he had a flat $150 charge, plus parts. I said that I understood the $55 fee would be applied to that. He said no, that was a separate arrangement. We argued and I finally said okay, with a plan to call "
I was told that the parts store didn't open until 9am etc and then he promised he'd be there by 10:30. At 11:15 they arrived. The dryer was fixed and I paid him $200. Total cost: $255 (Part $50). Total time cost for me - 1.5 business days, without counting all the phone calls.
Next time, I am calling

After 3 phone calls in the morning, confirming for 11, he called for directions at 12:30. Showed up at 1, walked into the kitchen, asked what the problem was, and told me it needed a new control board. I said "That's supposed to be the end point of a diagnostic process, not the start". He grunted, and said (seriously, a quote) "Which one is it?" (I have two dishwashers).
He then gets on his cell phone and calls my house phone by accident. While that is going on, there's a knock on the door, someone's looking for Apartment C at my address. I said there's no apartment here, and he said he was from
He spent 3 minutes looking at the dishwasher, removed the rotor, pulled out the assembly underneath, and told me that this was the problem, and that I could easily replace it myself. I nodded, said fine, moved them out of the door with a $65 check. Just to verify, I called the manufacturer to verify that the advice given was utter nonsense, which they confirmed. They also suggested a drying process which took about 2 hours and fixed the dishwasher.
I will grant that I have a somewhat exotic dishwasher, but this was well beyond the
