"Everything they did was superb. All the repairs were done with care and, once painted, you could not tell those areas from new. In the master suite project, all" the work was very well done and has aged well, except for one small part of a
seam that cracked after 5 years, cause unknown but more likely due to house settling than bad
work (that was one of the repairs this time around). One impressive feat was a skylight opening in an angled roof over a bathroom with a flat ceiling, and where the skylight flared on all four sides, resulting in a complex, multiple

came to our home to give us an estimate and was very honest and gave us the ins and outs of what the job would entail. He was booked for" a little bit, but when our time came to have our work done, we couldn't be more happy. His team came in and helped us move the remaining large furniture to enable them to get all of the rooms in our house sprayed. They spent a good amount of time sealing and taping off the work areas, which were highly appreciated. Communication was open throughout the project making sure no nicks or holes in the wall were missed. They sprayed orange peel on the walls to add texture. Cleanup was outstanding.
and his team are great people and a pleasure to work with. Hope to use them again in the future to have our ceilings textured!

Drywall and plaster

Knowing how your interior walls are constructed and what they are made of can help you take better care of your home, as well as provide effective maintenance. You can make small repairs yourself, but the more extensive the job the more likely you'll need a drywall repair contractor to make the wall smooth again.

Are those small Styrofoam balls on your ceiling bugging you? You can remove them yourself, or hire a drywall pro.

These service providers are your best bet to patch drywall or plaster holes that plumbers, electricians and other service providers may create while working.

Dear Angie: Who can I hire to remove a popcorn ceiling? How is it done and what will it cost? — Jonathan H. of Woodland Hills, California, and Marcia E. of Altamonte Springs, Florida

You may prefer the lived-in look, but a hole in the wall makes your home look a little too lived in. A pro tells how to repair a hole yourself and save money.

Angie's Answers

My sister-in-law uses brite white toothpaste and rubs it into those small holes. No prep, no sanding.

I've used wall liner (it applies like wallpaper only thicker) to cover a multitude of "wall sins" over the years. In my opinion it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It doesn't look cheap or tacky, it's inexpensive, non-labor intensive and not messy to install.

I used it for the first time about 15 years ago to cover a faux brick tile on my lower kitchen walls that couldn't be removed. It was either tear the wall down or take a chance on $40 worth of wall liner. It did the job beautifully and lasted. Since then I've used it to cover paneling, a badly gouged wall after a kitchen remodel and a wall that looked like a pegboard after floor to ceiling shelving was removed.

Friends and family (and realtors!) have been amazed by the transformation after applying this simple inexpensive product.

Remember, you not only have to remove the popcorn texture, but also redo the ceiling in some other texture.

Price will depend on several factors:

1) how much the contractor you choose hates removing popcorn or textured ceilings - some charge $1 or so/SF extra just because they hate it. There are even some who bid total drywall replacement cheaper than removing the popcorn, so you have to first find contractors who are happy to do that work, or your prices will be out of the realistic range

2) if the popcorn predates about 1990, then it could likely have asbestos in it, which doubles or triples the price, and in many cases uncapsulating it with a spray coating and then removing the drywall entirely is actually cheaper than all the protective measures necessary if it is scraped off.

3) whether the popcorn is primarily gypsum and vermiculite (comes off REAL easy) or was the plaster of paris variety, which takes a fair amount of soaking to soften it enough to scrape off

4) what type of finish you are replacing it with - if a textured ceiling, slapcoat, knockdown finish or paneling, not real problem. If you want to go with a perfectly smooth ceiling (generally a bad idea as any variations in the drywall on a ceiling surface really shows up dramatically), then it will demand a lot of care in preparing the scraped surface, and a complete surface drywall compound skim coat to smooth out the scrapes and gouges from the removal process.

5) what underlying conditions are - if there is a lot of furniture to move around (should go to adjacent rooms) or cover and work around, high-quality rug or hardwood floor to super-protect or such, will drive cost up.

I have seen costs run from as low as $0.60/SF to $1.25/SF (for removal only). Generally, remove and recoat with a surface texture of some kind (anything but smooth) and paint will run you about $2.50-3.50/SF.

Now the bad news - if asbestos containing, can run from $5-10/SF. Many homeowners in that situation go the other legal route - have it encapsulated with an asbestos-rated sealant by an asbestos contractor, then paint it and leave it for the next homeowner to decide what to do about it. Some contractors encapsulate it and then put a 1/4" thick drywall layer over it - this usually looks like a disaster unless it has a VERY rough textured finish on it, because putting drywall sheet over a rough surface like popcorn invariably means a wavy surface commonly looks like a gently rolling ocean surface.

Drywall Repair reviews in Thompson

Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and I worked out best possible days, and she came on the days promised. If questions came up,
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
asked if I wanted it this way or that way. She complied with my wishes and provided ideas I had not considered--which I greatly appreciated. Worksite was neat as a pin when work was done. I paid by check on the day work was complete. The deck looks grand, and the neighbors are impressed. Please note that this was the second part of a two-segment job. A few weeks earlier,
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
completed a number of home repair tasks that I have been unable to do, all the way from repairing a running toilet to sanding down and repainting a door, fixing a non-working doorbell, leveling out a wall with nails that were popping out, and several other items, large and small. There seems to be no home repair that she cannot do. When I asked her about her impressive range in skills,
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
said that she is constantly learning. She also said that, when asked to do something she cannot do, she says so--and she will try to provide referrals. I paid for this earlier work when all tasks were completed.
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
followed up in both cases with emailed invoices to me, marked paid, for both segments of the home repair project.

Tri State showed us their proof of insurance during the initial visit and presented several options that best suit our taste, needs, and budget. Per our insurance adjuster's guidelines, we removed the old material before installing a new

of shingles. Tri State Creations then installed thicker individual roof shingles, paying particular attention to the chimneys and skylights where leaking had always been a concern. Their guys were always kind, professional, and personable.

Masterbrush came to my home and assured me that the work was in the details. I was somewhat skeptical at the several professional painters that were far more expensive and wanted to "spray my home." This was without doubt the first thing that
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
conveyed to me - that he and his crew would brush the home with rollers and fill in the mortar where necessary. The result was overwhelming and quite remarkable. Neighbors and passerbyes have been very complimentary and have remarked at the subtle details that Masterbrush had completed. This will last at least another 20 plus years and since the color is a natural color, it will age gracefully and without much upkeep.
I was also dumbfounded about the process of the entire job. I had 7 quotes ranging from $7,800.00 to $48,000.00 I find this to be very confusing. Yes, you don't want to pay someone $1.00 to wax your car, the results my prove to be aligned with the cost! Although I was surprised that there were several in between.

Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
is professional, understanding and willing to listen and not tell you what you need. He articulated to me what he was going to do and he did it. We both agreed that in the end, I was paying for a result, not a service. The result was spectacular, come see it for yourself.
I would recommend Heny and his team, they did a remarkable job and were equally as efficient. A great group of guys with a great sense of humor and friendly to have at your home.
I will be using them for the interior of my home when the summer is over.

provided excellent service. The quality of the work is excellent, as confirmed by our painter who came in afterward. The workers were courteous, friendly, efficient and cleaned up well afterward. They transformed our family room, which had previous

that wasn't properly surfaced. They created an even, flawless finish. We highly recommend them and would hire them without hesitation in the future.

They came out for an estimate. They wrote up a contract and that they would start on 7/15/2015.
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he had some other projects he was working on so they couldn't start until 7/19/2015. They were unable to help me on that date as well. 7/22-25/2015 was the next time they were to come out for my project. They never arrived on that date either. Total cost of the project is $1998. They charged me me $500 down which I had given them and they have cancelled the work and will not refund me my deposit.

I couldn't be happier with the work or the service.
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
showed up on time, got right to work, and before I was done my coffee, half of the room was finished. These guys were awesome. 2 days later, the entire room was done and ready for paint. They were professional, clean, fast, and did great work.
I was considering doing the job myself, but it would have taken me weeks to do the job they did, and it wouldn't have been half as good. Any time I need
Thompson Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
done, i'll be calling them back.

I consider $22,390 for a mid-range kitchen quite a bargain, especially when the work was done flawlessly to spec. Photos of real kitchens on Houzz helped us gather and refine ideas for our own space. Tri State Creations really delivered. Personality is just as important to my wife and I. Tri State was willing to give us some rough numbers during the initial consultation and every one of their guys was a delight to work with.
