"They arrived around 8:30am looked at the job, laid plastic on the steps and floor, finished the job around 1:00pm. They tested the job and cleaned up and left. They" were very nice and professional.

-Roberta D.

"They were able to provide a complete bid upfront with a significant discount for agreeing to use them the day bid was submitted. A crew of 5 showed up in the morning" on the day of install. I had a big project - but stayed a bit later and got everything done. Everything was cleaned up, install looks great, salesman stopped by to make sure I was happy with everything. Very very very professional. It might have cost a bit more than other systems but these guys are amazing.

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

and the On Call Waterproofing Crew do outstanding work. They excavated all around house 6 ft down to the footer. Installed new footer drain pipes and connected new downspout drain pipes. Also installed clean outs that are easy to access for any future maintenance. Tarred and sealed the foundation walls. Back filled with gravel. You would never know they were there once they finished the job. They were careful to protect landscaping and our neighbors property as well. Before
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew arrived, I had horrible water problems in my basement walls. Water was seeping in through the walls and at the footer base. After On Call Waterproofing finished the job, I have had a dry basement. I can say that I can recommend On Call Waterproofing. They are very professional and do the job right. Keeping the water on the outside of the foundation walls. I was very nervouse to have such a large scale job done at the house. Once
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
showed up and he and his crew began the work with such a high level of professionalism and skill, I had all the confidence that I did the right thing and hired the right guy.
In fact, as I get ready to sell this house 5 yrs later, I am having
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his Crew get ready to do the same excellent work at my new house. They will be laying a new cement garage pad and waterproofing around the house foundation.

After getting several estimates, a neighbor recommended
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived and performed an estimate. He was very professional and even found a pipe leak that needed attention (a plumber came out the next day to repair). When I received the estimate (three different plans), it was significantly higher that the competitors (by thousands). I brought this up to
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
who was able to meet the competitor's price and said
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
could provide the same work.
The crew arrived on a weekday morning but I wasn't given an exact time but luckily I work from home so I'm flexible. The crew leader came to the door and explained they would get to work. I inquired as to whether he would be sealing the vents in the house (it was on the estimate) but he seemed confused and said it wasn't necessary. However, after a phone call with the office, it was determined that it was necessary. Another worker came in to seal the events but also mentioned that a window would need to be opened to bring in an air tube. I asked for him to give me a few minutes before opening the window so I could put my cats in a safe place (otherwise they might have escaped) and he responded "That's okay, I'll guard the window". To me this was very unprofessional and I was not about to risk my cats getting out so I ran around my house frantically to get them in a safe place (all while I should have been at my desk working). If I had been notified earlier that this was going to be the process, I could have had this taken care of.
There were a few other hangups such as having to come back a 2nd time to remove mold that was overlooked (the employee they sent out didn't seem very knowledgeable and had to call the office for my questions). At this point, I'm not sure if all the mold was removed effectively. This employee also brought along an "air scrubber" which I truly believe should have been in my house and running during the actual mold remediation instead of during this removal which took the employee all of 5-10 minutes. My house smelled like dirt for almost 2-3 weeks afterwards and upon research, this can sometimes be the sign of mold and as of today, almost two months later I still smell occasional dirt smells.
Overall, it was a very frustrating experience. $3,200 is a lot of money to me and I felt like the project didn't go smoothly and I'm not confident with the work that was done. They were kind enough to give me a $125 break for the frustration but I'm more worried about quality of the work that was done and I can only hope I won't have to have mold remediated again any time soon. I wish I had gone with one of their competitors.
I could tell that
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his counterpart (can't remember his name) cared about customer satisfaction but a lot of what went wrong could have been easy overcome with being more communicative (both we me and workers) to ensure everything went correctly.

On Saturday evening we discovered our old sump pump was having a difficult time keep up with all the rain we were having. We looked on Angie's list and decided to purchase a Big Deal for a new sump pump from
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
Specialist, Inc. Within a few minutes of purchasing the Big Deal, the owner,
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
contacted us to set up a time to have his workers come out. We were very relieved to find out they were available to come to our house Monday morning. The workers arrived on time and did a great job installing and removing our old sump pump. We were very please with how quickly
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
responded and even more pleased with how quickly we were able to get our new sump pump installed. We plan to use them in the future and would recommend them others.

Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to ask about a water powered backup sump pump. Convinced me that battery powered was way to go and had a 7 day life. Cool. So I scheduled for a sales guy to come out.
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out. Nice guy. Took a look around and we determined that not enough water pressure for a water powered sump pump. OK, battery powered is fine. Can you guarantee in writing the 7 day life? Nope. Ok so I have to take his word for it.
So we look at the existing sump pump. There's a cover on it and we can't figure out how to remove it. I explicitly say I'll get it removed before work starts. We're going to draw up the contract, but
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
says he'll come back next day with documents that show manufacturer's warranty. He'll come after work.
Next night, no show and no call. I call him later and he says (paraphrasing) that
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
didn't want to do the job anymore because the cover and pipes to the sump pit had to be removed. W**? I had said I would have the cover removed. I asked
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to have
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
call me, which he said he would pass on. Of course, no call back to discuss. No
Cavalier Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to review or resolve, just silence.
I thought I had found someone to do the installation, now I have to go back and find someone else, get them to come out, etc. Total waste of my time.
I marked "D" for responsiveness and professionalism rather than F because they were responsive during pre-sales.
The above is expressly my opinion based on my experience, your experience may be different.
- Paul H.

The team arrived on time each day and did a fantastic job. They not only installed the tile around the perimeter but also dug an extra ditch and installed tile accross the middle of the crawl space!
- Jonathan H.

They arrived on time and started the remediation of mold. I had to let the air scrubbing machine run most of the day and night. They set up containment to keep everything contained in the area where they worked. Did follow up testing to make sure no mold was present. All testing came back negative ( no signs of mold). Job well done. We are now MOLD FREE.
- Dorys B.

The plumber came out the following Monday and within an hour my basement was drying up. It is
now as dry as it has ever been . Thanks to

advice he saved me thousands of dollars. His company will get my recommendation
