"This included some repair from water damage from a roof leak and my aquariums, rerouting of a CCTV system, removal of some built in shelves etc. All of the prep" work was performed as agreed and on time. New colors were selected and the entire home was painted, making it look brand new! Happy to say the house sold quickly. I discovered
and Son Painting on Angie's list (and wrote a previous review) and wanted to again post my absolute satisfaction with this company. Professional, courteous and detail oriented!

"The project was right on schedule. He always arrived promptly and worked all day. His prep work for the painting is outstanding. It enhances the look of" the paint job. I have used
several times for both interior as well as exterior work. I even had a neighbor who I didn't know tell me how nice my house looks and noticed how well my house was prepped before the paint was applied. I will continue to use him for some additional work I will be doing this spring. I highly recommend his company.

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.

Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!

Yes - absolutely!  Refinishing is THE VERY BEST way to go to avoid tearing out a perfectly good bathtub that just LOOKS bad after years of use.  Go to the link below for some before and after refinishing pictures of acrylic tubs.

Where to begin. I have never written a bad review, but frankly, I've never encountered an established company that failed so miserably to deliver what was promised. Initially, we hired this company to paint interior space, then later to install recessed lighting and bathroom remodel. Initially
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
was very responsive and prompt, with affordable prices. The painting looked great, and so we hired him for additional work based on what services he said he was confident in providing.
My first clue that something was amiss was when they repainted the walls after only 3-4 hours of drying time. Anyone who has painted before knows that it takes several more hours to cure, and that a second coat applied too soon will result in poor adhesion. Well, as one would expect, the paint now peels off the walls with ease, whenever something scrapes up against it, or when an adhesive decal is removed (we have young boys who like to put stickers on the wall--it should NEVER peel paint up when removed). I never informed him of this, as the subsequent problems made this error

in comparison.
Next was the recessed lighting. Installation looked fine, for the most part. One area was poorly fitted and the rough
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
of the drywall ceiling is visible. Not enough to demand a fix, though I'm not the most particular person and often overlook minor imperfections. The real issue came to light last week when I had an electrician replace the switches in the house. The electrician he had install the lights installed
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
dimmer switches, but they were installed upside down, so that you had to move the slider up to dim the lights, or invert the entire switch, in which case you'd be flipping the switch up to turn the lights off. I asked why it was done this way, and was told that it had to be done that way because of the way the house was wired. Big red flag, and I ignored it at the time. This was the case in three different locations in the home. One switch I fixed myself with a different kind of dimmer, the other two were fixed when I brought in an electrician last week. HERE'S THE KICKER: when the electrician pulled the switch cover off, he noticed that a LIVE WIRE was left exposed with just a
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
strip of electrical tape barely adhered. No cap, hot wire. He said I was fortunate that it didn't start a fire, and that no trained electrician would EVER leave a job like this. Naturally, I had him rewire every switch that
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
's guy touched, for fear of fire. It goes without saying that you shouldn't have to pay twice for the same job, and that a reputable contractor would NEVER endanger their customers in this fashion.
Then there was the bathroom remodel. We had planned to have the main and master baths completely remodeled. By the time his subcontractor got halfway through the job, it was evident that he had either little experience in laying glass tile, or little care for quality of work. A list of problems with the install:
1. The main wall was to be entirely 1' glass mosaic tile, which depends entirely on proper spacing when being set to look even remotely passable. He didn't use a single spacer, and the 12"x12" sheets were in some places butted up directly against each other, and in others not even remotely lined up with one another. It looked abysmal even from 20 feet away. I insisted that the most egregious pieces be removed and replaced. The finished product looks nothing like what you would expect a professional to provide, to put it mildly. Chipped glass tiles were left in place, misalignment, you name it. I'm planning on paying to have the entire wall torn down and retiled, it's that bad.
2. The visible top
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
of the porcelain tub was scratched during installation. The installer was piling his metal tools in there overnight. Not repaired.
3. The toilet was reinstalled without consideration for the new tile floor height (replacing linoleum), and the wax ring was not replaced to accommodate the new height from the fitting. The net result was a slow sewage leak that eventually saturated the ceiling in the bathroom below. I had to cut out a piece of the ceiling to track down the leak, then replaced the wax ring in the toilet above to fix it. I called
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and told him what happened, and he denied that it could be related to his work given the time that had passed. I told him that I found the source, and explained why he should have installed a proper ring, and that the ceiling needed to be repaired because his guy didn't reinstall the toilet with the proper fitting. He said he'd take care of the repair in a week or so. He never called back, never showed up to make the repairs.
4. The level of quality of the trim installed was atrocious. I had to refit the electric box so that the plate would sit flush with the wall. I had to caulk in major holes around the tile and tub, ones that should not exist when installed by a professional.
By this point in the project, I told
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
that the quality of work was so poor that no further work would be done, no additional payments for additional work (he was paid in full for what was already poorly done, and I didn't demand a refund).
I will be happy to provide photo images of the work and problems on request, to verify that I'm not in any way exaggerating the severity of the situation.
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
seems to me a genuinely nice person, however the quality of the service he provided, particularly in terms of electrical wiring and bathroom remodel, are not even remotely on the level of professional. I was hesitant to share this experience, because I don't want to hurt anyone's reputation or livelihood, but I cannot in good conscience recommend his services to anyone, and feel compelled to warn everyone against using this company for anything beyond painting, and even in that arena, I would recommend several other companies (Patriot Painting, being the first) rather than JS. Frankly, this the worst experience I've had with a contractor, and I've dealt with quite a few over the years.

He did an excellent job! He was always on time, professional, and did good quality work. He has fair prices and I would highly recommend his services to others. Very easy and accommodating to work with and did a very good job of cleaning up afterwards.

I had
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
install new vinyl siding on my 2 story colonial. I'm a very particular person, and I do a lot of research before committing to anything. After 7 estimates (
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
being my final estimate) I decided to go with them. I absolutely thought that I was getting the most for my money with them. The owner
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
came to my house to perform the estimate. He explained everything in detail, and offered several suggestions on repairing a few issues with the exterior. They scheduled my work for 6 weeks post offer acceptance, and ended up being able to start after 3 weeks!!! The crew that worked on the house was extremely diligent, and worked very hard. At the end of every day the workers had cleaned up so well I couldn't even find so much as a sliver of trim coil! The finished product is absolutely amazing. They even offered to come out after the job was done, and swap my doorbell for me (which involved removing a small piece of siding, and reattaching). Thanks
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and crew for a JOB WELL DONE, and i'll be sure to call on you guys if I need anything done to the exterior going forward!

I had to call them several times before the phone would ring. I kept getting a busy signal. I was not aware that businesses even allow a busy signal anymore. When I was finally able to speak to a young lady, who sounded very exasperated and was making comments to someone else while I was on the phone with her. By the end of the call I scheduled an appointment for January 29th at 10am. She informed me that they would be there between 10am and 11am.
The next day, the appointment time passes with no call from the firm. At 11:05am I call the firm and gentleman answers and I explain that I had an appointment scheduled for between 10am and 11am and no one has shown up. He places me on hold for approximately 5 minutes. When he returned he simply states that they were held up in traffic and they will be there in 20-30 minutes. There was no apology, nothing. Given that I live literally down the street from them, that they would have been prompt in coming to my house. I told them not to bother coming over.
If they cannot keep a
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
appointment and act professional I do not think they would be professional in painting my house. I would not recommend them.

Their price was in the ballpark with the other estimates we received.
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
’s crew was very nice. They were very professional to work with. We have four dogs which can be hard to work around at times. They worked very well with our schedule to be able to make sure we were there while the job was being completed. They finished the job in about four days and cleaned up well. He did a follow up with me about a month ago. They are going to actually complete a touch up job in the spring.
Wilkesboro Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his crew did a great job overall!

What a great experience. My neighbor and I had our homes worked on at the same time and were thrilled with not only the work done, but the amazing, professional, courteous crews. I am so thrilled with the job done and look forward to using them in the future.

The painting job turned out good. I was a little disappointed with the company. No one showed up for the first appointment and they never called me. They also missed one part of the house and when the painter came back, he blamed it on me.
