Tile Installation reviews in Warsaw
The start date was changed a few times as he started other jobs, which was okay with me as it gave me more time to get everything ready. But he changed the dates of when he would pick up one tile & I had to ask floor and decor to hold it past 30 days.
Ovi said he could begin June 22, and he said he would pick up the tiles before this, then said he would pick up the tiles June 24th, which changed to my surprise to me now going to each tile store, one in the city, and one an hour away to meet him there, which was told to me at the time he came to start on the 22.
Ovi told me Thursday June 18th when we met before he planned to start June 22, that I needed to have the plumbing fixtures removed before he could start demo, so I complied by getting the plumber at the last minute luckily, on Friday June 19th.to remove the fixtures. This should have been told to me weeks before, so as to plan. Those reading, it means the toilets were removed. so he could start Demo Monday June 22. On the day he told me this, he also told me he would do NO electrical work (never discussed prior, and I thought remodel included electrical). So that was a surprise. I hate surprises. And he never gave me a detailed contract, I wrote one up, prior to the meeting on the 18th via email which he never responded to another red flag. and not until the 18th did he tell me no electrical, no painting. I shouldn't have ever started.
Ovi picked up the tiles, while his worker stayed to "demo" the bathroom. I have never remodeled a bathroom. His demo was not what a real demo is supposed to be. They only removed the tiles, and vanity. They did not demo out the walls to the studs so the plumber could access the pipes. They even left mirror on in one bathroom.
Ovi told me I was ready for the Plumber. The plumber came,, cut through the walls, installed new copper pipe, and then plumber explained they must have complete access to the pipes and that the walls are supposed to be demo means off/removed In order to do this.
I foolishly trusted Ovi to know the remodeling steps.
Ovi told both the plumber and myself he would not demo out the walls. That was the end of ovi and the supposed remodel .
I gave him a deposit of $3250. He wrote me a check for $2250, which I asked for, forgetting due to the extreme distress the deposit wasn't $3000, but half or $3250. When I realized the deposit was for $3250, I asked Ovi for the additional $250 back. Ovi was not going to refund it, and felt entilited to $1000 for the one day of work that was done. I told him if he at least gave me it back, I would NOT write a review on Angieslist.
After not being able to live in my apartment for 1 month, due to NO bathrooms, and still looking for a contractor, I felt compelled to change my mind, to share my
gave a cost estimate to do more then the 4 hours work.
we chose just to stay with the 4 hours work they Cleaned up and left.
Their quality work was good, would call em back for more work next time there is a deal.
The original scope of the job included refinishing the terrazzo in the kitchen, but we did not realize there had been a large plumbing repair under the floor in the kitchen between an island and the sink, and there was a very large concrete patch that could not be patched with terrazzo to match. Once the workers discovered this area under the tile. they contact us right away to look at it. The ground the terrazzo and the cement to prep it for another surface (we will have to install tile or another flooring over it). They had to patch a few cracks and holes that were very small, and those areas are not noticeable at all. The finished terrazzo in the rooms where it was not damaged (dining room, hallway and hall bath) looks fantastic! It is shiny, yet not glossy and it is not slippery.
It was a pleasure to have
Solid daily progress - no downtime, daily progress calls.
Provided important input on the design making it better than the original concept.
Limited the impact of the demo and cutting which was much appreciated.
