Home Energy Audits

One thing homeowners can do to save on energy costs is to have a home energy audit conducted. This will reveal where drafts are entering from outdoors and where insulation is ineffective. Energy auditors can also recommend upgrades in appliances to save energy.

She was excellent. She was quick. She gave me a very detailed analysis. She gave me verbal recommendations. I got more than what I paid, in terms of value. I would highly recommend her.

The provider made it very easy to set up an appointment. The technician arrived on time and called prior to his arrival to confirm the appointment. The initial inspection took approximately one hour as the technician provided maintenance. During the inspection the technician explained that I had two cracks in my furnace's heat exchange (confirmed by two other companies). He took the time to show me the cracks in the heat exchange and explained the associated problems with the cracks. Finally,
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
provided two quotes for installing a furnace. The quotes were in line with other competitors. I would consider using
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
again in the future.

Polite, courteous, on time, professional, thorough - I did not need to oversee anything, but everything was done to perfection. Provided suggestions for improvements but did not press on purchasing additional items. Appreciated that. When I am ready to make the improvements, I will call

Well, the courting process was great. The company was professional, on-time to appointments, demonstrated great knowledge of the services required and the CHIF program, and overall, built a perception that they would go above and beyond to get the job done on time, under budget, get the full available energy rebates, and credit me any unused loan dollars....More /> But of course, once the contract is signed, you get hit with reality:
1) The work started
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
1st: I was told the work would take about a week. They completed the job (after descoping some items) the week of September 22nd. The foreman/supervisor on my job made promise after promise in regards to scheduling and would never deliver. Guys would show-up, sit around to wait for supplies, work a few hours and leave. He would send guys over to "look" at things and then leave. And more often than not, he said they would be there on a certain day/time and just not show up at all. Of course, there was always an excuse. I actually found humor on how creative the excuses became. But the moment that put it all in perspective was when one of his own workers said to me "you got green-starred" when I was complaining to him about the timing of this job that should have taken a week. My family wasted many hours/days waiting on this company.
2) I take partial blame for this part as I stupidly trusted these people. As part of the CHIF program, the home owner gets a loan for the cost of improving the home's energy efficiency, and also, receives rebates. As part of the process, the homeowner has to sign a certificate stating the work was completed to their satisfaction in order to release funds to the service provider.
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
convinced me that although the work had not been completed, I needed to sign the certificate in order to get the rebates before they expired. So stupidly I did, under the premise that
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
put in our contract a credit for unused dollars up to that point in time and of course, the remaining work needed. That occurred on
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
11th (10 days after project started), meaning
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
received their money from CHIF sometime around that date, and like I previously stated, they didn't complete the work (again, descoped from what was in the contract) until September 22.
3) Rebates and Issuance of Credits: So far, two rebate submissions have been rejected by the state because of errors on the documentations submitted by
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
. In addition, I am still awaiting my refund on the unused credit for work not performed. I am not holding my breathe that I will see near the dollars that should be entitled to anytime soon.
Overall, I would not recommend this company to anyone and only hope others can learn from our terrible experience.

I had a warrantee issue with the inverters that were installed by a
different company. the manufacturer was replacing the parts for free,
and even offered to pay for the labor. I found
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
willing to do the
work and deal directly with the manufacturer. The installer was
friendly, courteous, and competent. He even went above expectations and
fixed a couple of things that had nothing to do with the inverters.
I'm really happy with the service
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
provided and would use them again.

My experience with this company was excellent. We decided to take all their post-audit recommendations, which included installing blown fiberglass insulation into both of our attics (one over our garage and one over our upstairs bedrooms), creating a dam around the hvac upstairs and a path to the unit, installing baffles along vented soffits to maintain passive attic ventilation, installing an insulated attic tent at one of our attic access pull down stairs, air sealing at top plates on interior walls from attic side and around ceiling mounted devices (recessed lights, ceiling fans) from the attic side, and installing mat covers over recessed lights and foam sealing them to the attic floor. As an additional benefit, the mat covers will keep those pesky stink bugs from getting into the house via the attic -awesome!

and his crew also air sealed bypasses at the vertical attic knee wall, air sealed around the exterior door in our family room and solved a huge problem for us, by air sealing the exterior wall by our cooktop vent. In addition, they replaced all of the flex duct from our upstairs hvac to each bedroom and bathroom (which unbeknownst to us was deteriorating and had actually been recalled) with new insulated flex duct. They also extended the venting of two bathroom fans to the outside at a roof mounted vent hood, which they installed. All of that work was done in just one day and it resulted in a significant improvement in energy loss, as evidenced by the post installation test out results. When they left my house, the place was spotless. This is a company you can trust. They are personable, professional, efficient and go the extra mile to make sure everything is done correctly. Here's the kicker...they also complete and submit all of the paperwork you need to obtain a rebate from BG&E under their Home Performance with Energy Star program, which provide rebates up to $3800. In our case, we will receive a substantial rebate. Based on the calculations we received as part of the energy audit, we will recoup our portion of the bill (after the rebate) in a few years which is a great deal, since we plan to stay in this house for many years to come.

I thought I had accepted the bid and sat all day on the 5th of Sept and no one showed. This was the date on the estimate that they said they could do the job. When originally I had called the Portland number to get the original person out to do an estimate they told me they don't schedule that I had to call the Vancouver Office to make the date. I called the Vancouver office the following Monday inquiring as to why they did not show.
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
said I had not responded to his email about the bid and had not sent them a down payment. I never received any email from him just from the estimate person which I had returned with ok and didn't say any thing about sending them a down payment. We got that settled and I sent them a signed copy of the estimate and approximately half of the bid as a down payment. We set the date for the 19th. They said they would be there at 8:30. Well, with one telephone call from the Portland office saying they were on their way, they arrived around 10:00 and told me they should be through about 2.
It took them all day and
Shannon Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
complained that the estimate of the use of the supplies was way off and that I was getting a deal because they had to use so much more than estimated. I am retired and so the scheduling was not a problem for me but I would suggest that You call the Vancouver Office and get all time and dates and finances squared away if you have to take time off from work. The work was good and the clean up was good but they definitely need to get their act together.
