After being referred to
from another well-respected business owner/professional in the community, I received a quote from Owner,
, and communicated that I would be accepting the proposal. After a multitude of conversations confirming they would be out to start the job, I contacted him yet again on 8/6 via phone, 8/7 via email, 8/8 I finally talked with him and he committed to getting back to me within an hour to set up date to perform work. I never received any further communication. On Monday, 8/11, I spoke once again with
and he committed to having someone out to perform the work either Thurs. 8/14 or Fri. 8/15, and would contact me in advance to confirm which day. Again, I never heard back and no one showed up either day. I have since contacted him, to no avail, and have NEVER received any type of follow-up from him or his staff. I am a professional in the service industry, working for a fortune 100 company, and certainly would not be able to sustain a respectable reputation in business if I treated my clientele this way. It is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Whether you don't need the business, or simply do not want it, a little professional courtesy would go a long way with this company.

Late March ‘14 - Met with
, wife and co-owner
with
, of
to discuss a quote for staining our fence. The quote was substantially
higher than expected. However, was assured by
that the product/procedure used by her husband,
, while
only warrantied for two years, would most likely last six years thereby making it worth the additional investment. We
explained to
our concern about switching stain product and being able to match our existing color. She told us
that
was a master in color and could match anything. Although we are fine with the new darker stain color…it wasn't what we asked for or were promised. Additionally, we had articulated some of our concerns regarding “cleanliness” so the quote included, at additional expenses, measures to be taken by
to ensure remnants of the procedure did not adversely impact our pool, pool equipment, basketball court as well as our neighbor’s corresponding assets were protected in their procedure. Made it very clear to
that we would be willing to forego schedule to eliminate risk of secondary
damage. Contract signed.
completed the initial cleaning phase of the procedure, which included a bleaching of the wood.
Initial stain application schedule provided, but numerous reschedules were required due to excessive wind conditions. These
reschedules were accommodated.
March 15th-
stained one of our two fences.
April 15th –
initialized the formal staining of our fences.
April 16th – Received a call from neighbor expressing frustration that his patio furniture and pool equipment were damaged
as a result of the staining procedure. Shared
’s phone number with neighbor and also alerted

they could expect a call.
met with neighbor in an effort to reconcile damage. Some progress was made, but overall satisfaction of the neighbor was still low. Replaced at our cost some of our neighbor’s pool equipment parts.
Mid-May – Only six weeks later, we noticed significant issues with the fence in various locations. Stain was failing to properly adhere, making the fence look old and washed out. Additionally, noticed that significant and unsightly over staining on the support poles was present. Contacted
who agreed to come out and begin an investigation.
May 18 –
from
came out and evaluated. Assured us that both the fence staining and hardware clean-up would be taken care of. We made it clear that this needed to be done prior to embarking on a significant remodeling of our backyard so that we would not subject new pool, grilling, flagstone, patio furniture, etc. to the previously experienced unsightly damage.
Late May – Formal schedule agreed to. Will re-stain and clean poles on June 7th. Received numerous texts assuring us we
were on their schedule and we would be taken care of.
June 6 – The night before the scheduled job, received a late evening call from
of
suggesting that there was no issue with the job and that any attempts to re-stain would fail. The conversation quickly escalated into an
unpleasant conversation.
was adamant that the only reason we were experiencing these issues was because the previous stain job used such an inferior product as compared to theirs. This was never mentioned during the selling
of their services.
went on to insult the condition of the fence, which was actually still in good shape to the point some of our neighbors questioned why we were even having it stained to begin with, stating that we were effectively asking him to put “lipstick on a pig”.
of
suggested that the bleaching of the fence was insufficient prep work to assure stain adherence and added that a power wash would have been required. While the contract stipulated that the fence
would be “cleaned”
of
then suggested that does not include power wash. We believe this to be unacceptable
as we relied on their “expertise” to make sure the fence was properly prepped for a complete and thorough stain job.
With respect to the support pole damage,
initially argue it was a pre-existing condition, then agreed they would have it addressed. As for the neighbor’s pool damage,
of
argued that we pushed them to get the job completed under adverse condition (blatant lie and could not have been further form the truth). After 30 minutes of ugly conversation it was
clear that there would be no effort made from
of
to complete the job the following morning. Sent
a text to
in an effort to find a solution. She chose not to respond even though she promised we would be satisfied and that their goal was to have pleased customers.
June 7th – Reached out to our fence contractor,
Fence, who had recommended
, to alert them of our situation. They agreed to come out and inspect the fence and offer their third party option. They agreed that the fence was damaged, but also added that it was likely due to inferior prep work. We agreed with
Fence that the options are as follows:
1.
Give
an opportunity to fix this, to which we replied we already did and they had declined. Plus that relationship was now seriously compromised to the point we do not want them on our property.
2.
Request a refund from
.
Fence felt this would never happen.
3.
Purchase the necessary stain and attempt to re-stain areas of concern (even though the likelihood of adherence was unlikely)
4.
Hire a third party to completely re-prep the fence and stain.
5.
Seek monetary relief for addition expenses through small claims court.

June 17th – Received recommendation from
Fence for another third party resource to inspect the fence. They contacted Texas Wood Products who sent out
of Pro-Fence Stain & Seal to assess the situation and concluded the fence was improperly prepped for staining. Further,
was appalled that the job resulted in such damage to neighboring property, specifically given the distance involved.
Month of
went above and beyond in an effort to resolve the problem. He contacted Texas Wood Products, who is the
’s stain supplier, to discuss the problem and determine potential solutions.
brought several samples of varying grades of color and oil/stain mix and applied to discrete areas of the fence for evaluation.
also
contacted
directly in a mediation effort, but also experienced a very uncomfortable conversation that among other things accused him of trying to steal his business.
21st – After several consultations between
and Texas Wood Products, we agreed on a solution. Additionally, Texas Wood Products, not wanting their product associated with an inferior application, financed the
re-staining of the fence via
of Pro-Fence Stain & Seal. Fence now looks the way it should have looked
after being stained.
August 5 – We contacted Texas Wood Products and suggested that
of
come out and clean our poles since we had already paid him to do so. We gave him more than 2 weeks and were told he came out and cleaned on
31st. We have security cameras on our property and after reviewing the film footage there was no one cleaning any of our poles on that date. We also looked at a few days prior and after
31st and again there was no one on our property cleaning any of our 54 fence poles.
Update-We are now faced with either cleaning our 54 poles ourselves, pay someone else to do it or take them to small claims court.

I had been looking at work performed in my neighborhood and 3 companies stood out based solely on the quality of work. I received estimates from all 3 companies and
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
came in with the lowest bid. The work was performed as promised. I originally agreed on the walnut stain but when the crew showed up they recommended the cedar color. Since I had changed the color I had to be rescheduled which was not a problem. In fact, I am very happy with the recommendation of the crew. The fence looks brand new again. I am exteemly pleased with the results and plan to use them again in 4 - 5 years when my fence will need to be re-stained again. I have a very large back yard with a 10K fence, so I want to make sure I protect my investment.

They responded quickly to my initial email and scheduled a visit to see the deck and provide a quote. After the visit we waited a week for the quote and had to contact them to get the quote. It still took a few days to get the quote. They only provided a lump sum quote for part of the job, not the full job. I contacted them back to get an itemized quote as the price seemed high and I never heard back from them. We did not use them for the job.

My wife and I live in Cape Fair, Missouri. I and many others
have had a bad experience from this company and I do not believe Angie's List is being fair to their consumers by recommending this company for reasons I can personally relate and provide proof of what I am
stating. I can assure you that Seal Smart, which in turn will reflect badly on Angie's List, will fleece people,
especially elderly. Hopefully you will read the information I am providing so you can judge for yourself, if I am
correct or not.
We purchased a newly built home in Cape Fair, Missouri in 2007. In 2008, a Representative from a Company
called SealMaxx came to our home and demonstrated a product that they contended would preserve our deck with a guarantee for 25 years. The guarantee was in writing. Within a few months after purchasing this service at a cost of $2,195.00, SealMaxx changed their name to
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
, but it still owned and operated out of the same location in Monett and

Within five (5) years we noticed our deck starting to rot. We contacted
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
and after numerous attempts,
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
R.

came out and stated that he could not find any rotten wood, with the exception of a small railing, which he replaced. The replaced railing does not match the rest of the railings. The following year, the floor on our deck was rotting so badly that one could not walk on part of the deck without having their foot go through the floor. We contacted
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
by telephone in early June of 2013 advising of this problem with the rotting floor of our deck. On
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
18th, 2013, we received a telephone call from
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
advising that a Representative would come out to inspect our deck. Five minutes later, we received a callback telling us no one would come out until we furnished them with pictures of our deck. That same date, pictures were mailed to

When we heard nothing from

in sixty (60) days, on September 18th, 2013, we sent a certified letter to
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
requesting a refund of our money and gave them ten (10) days to respond. By September 28th, 2014, we had no response from
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Another certified letter was sent to Seal Smart on October 10th, 2013, giving them another 30 days to respond
to our request for a refund. On October 28th, 2013, we received a response from a
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
Hazelwood, misstating the facts involved and for the first time, stated our pictures did not show rotting or warping. On October 29th, 2013, I responded to
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
Hazelwood setting forth the actual facts involved. We have heard nothing from
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
or

As a result of hearing nothing from
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
, in late 2013, we filed a small claim in the 39th Judicial Circuit Court of Stone County, Missouri as Case No.:13SN-SC00024. The first court date was scheduled for early 2014 and on January 7th, 2014,
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
Hazelwood sent a letter to the court requesting a postponement. The court complied and the court date was rescheduled for April 24th, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Because

a certified letter, giving him 30 days to advise us when he would pay the judgment, since he did not appeal the court decision. It was signed for on June 11th, 2014. We have not received a response from our June 10th, 2014 letter.
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
is fleecing retired people with a product that does not provide the protection that they advertise. The Better
Business Bureau has had many complaints against this company and in fact, on August 29th, 2013, the Better Business Bureau in Claremore, Oklahoma stated on their website on August 29th, 2013 the following; “ON 08/29/2013, THIS COMPANY’S ACCREDITATION IN BBB WAS REVOLKED BY BBB’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS DUE TO UNRESOLVED COMPLAINT(S).” I would not think that Angie's List would want to be supporting such a business as
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked

I would be more than happy to furnish you with copies of all the information contained in this letter plus pages of complaints filed against the company.

He came the first day over two hours late without any notification. When he arrived he said he had to stop in on another job first unexpectedly.
He power washed the surfaces to be treated and replaced a few of the boards. He then said to call him in a few days because the power washed surface needed to properly dry. He never came back - or even called - despite several calls over a more than two week period. After the first few calls I left a message saying if he was too busy to finish to please let me know so I could find someone else; still no response. He had taken a can of stain from the last time the porch was stained so he could purchase the right color and I never even got that back.
It took me another few weeks to find a new provider, who then had to once again power wash the deck and porch before treatment. In addition, one of the boards
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
replaced had to be redone as it was poorly installed. Even I could see the improper installation and when the new contractor came he immediately saw it as well. I also had to go to Home Depot, get color chips and try to match them to what was used the last time since he never had the decency to return the paint can he took.
I lost a month's use of my deck this summer due to this lack of professionalism. Fortunately he did not ask for money upfront.
I used
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
a few years ago just to paint the deck and he was fine in terms of the job and pleasant to deal with. Not sure what happened but this time it was obviously not satisfactory.

Have used
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
Assamoi of
Salisbury Porch Cleaning Contractors Provider Name Locked
for several years to refresh our decks. This year we also asked him to do interior (unfinished wood) of our screened porch. He did a beautiful job cleaning off the mildew and reapplying stain. However, it took two weeks for the floor of the stained porch to dry. We did have high humidity during that time and rain a couple of days, and the flooring area is always shaded. The porch is roofed/screened and a ceiling fan was running constantly. I don't know if the wood was oversaturated with the preservative/stain product, or if it was due to the weather that it took so long to dry. We had to have the porch furniture sitting in our carport for two weeks which was inconvenient. However, the final product looks like something out of a magazine. We'd definitely use him again.
