"Professional, responsive, and friendly. They did what they said they would do, for how much they said it would cost, and when they said they would do it. PODs were" clean and everything we had stored was returned in good shape almost a year after we loaded the POD. I would use them again.

Renting a storage unit may seem like a confusing process, but we’ve outlined the steps you should take in order to find the perfect fit. From determining the type of self-storage you need, to how much you can expect to pay, the Angie’s List Guide to Storage Units covers all the right stuff (in a climate controlled area, of course).

Angie's Answers

Hello, this is Kyle K from the Member Care Department.

Although Angie's List doesn't provide info on average or "going rates" for various projects, when members and consumers submit reviews, they have the option to include that cost of the project.
With that in mind, one way to find out a very general price range on a project is to log on to www.AngiesList.com (http://www.angieslist.com/?CID=ANS) and search for "Moving" (or any other appropriate category for your project, such as remodeling - K&B or ceramic tile), and then look at the project cost info supplied by local members and consumers.
Of course, probably the best way to get the most accurate cost information is to request multiple bids from several contractors. As the price will vary with work site considerations and individual contractors' approaches, getting multiple estimates will help provide a clearer picture of what your project will cost.
I hope this information helps!

Here are the FAQ's on San Jose rent control - and only apartments and mobilehomes being rented are covered, not storage units.

More and more people are using storage units, so costs have gone up frequently and signfiicantly in the past few years.

Pretty much you are at the mercy of the market - if the market will support it, they can raise their prices - and the cleaner, newer, and higher security ones can do that easier (but also presumably protect your stuff better). Your only recourse, for lower cost, is to go with an older, shabbier looking or non-climate controlled place, build storage at your place, dedicate more of your personal space to storage, or get rid of stuff.

Hi Nancy,
This is Sarah B. in Member Care. I'm happy to help!
I was able to find several rated providers where you can rent a storage pod. For your current need though, our Snapfix specialists would also be able to do all of the dialing for you, match you up with a top rated company and arrange to have them call you to figure out the logistics. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please fill out the form in the link below and our Snapfix Team will take it from there!
If you would like to reach out to these providers yourself, please let me know. I’d be happy to send these to you.  No matter which option you choose, I hope you’ll take the time to fill out a review when the work is done.
If you would like information on providers through this forum, please let us know. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at memberservices@angieslist.com. We're happy to help, Nancy!

Storage Unit reviews in Roper

This has been a nightmare and horrible experience for the past year. We would like our desk returned to us in the brand new condition it was in before
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
broke it. Orin at
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
has no customer service skills. He has degraded our furniture and has refused to work with us to come to an agreement. He has blamed us and said this type of furniture can't withstand a move. Aren't they professional movers who should know how to move furniture? We have asked for $889 to replace the hutch piece on the desk that was broken and they have refused to do so. They have stated that " this type of wood can't be fixed" so why won't they pay for a new piece? We now live in Florida and the desk is in Illinois and they want US to pay to have a broken desk delivered to us by them for $1330 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have experienced horrible customer service. They were paid $6658 for the move, they got their money and now do not want fix a problem they caused. We would not recommend this company.

I needed a portable storage unit for the contents of our garage while it was being torn down and rebuilt. With short notice (because the garage builder gave us a 5 day notice of demo), Units was able to deliver a POD within a few days of me calling and were able to deliver on the time and date I needed. They were also very flexible in leaving the POD for a month while our garage was built.
They reminded me about the Village permit process and remembered to include the lighted barricades that are required. The driver was on-time, friendly and quick. When it came time to schedule the pickup, again it was within 2-3 days of my call and I didn't even need to be home.
The first time I needed a storage unit I called the POD brand and one other group for a quote. Getting some distant 800 operator was very disappointing and they had tons of

fees and surcharges. They also needed a 20-30 day window before they could book & deliver my POD.

at Units is local and they are able to work with just about anyone's schedule.
I highly recommend them for anyone in the
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
area who is in need of portable storage. don't pay more for the big name brand, you'll regret paying more and waiting longer!

. Very professional and friendly to us. We are so appreciative for all their hard work. It made our relocating experience so pleasant, and non-stressful. They arrived early, and both were very efficient in their time. Great job!

I used the

Senior Citizen New Beginnings package.
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
and Storage was wonderful. I can't say enough about them or their employees. I recommend them. I had read moving "horror stories" online, so, as a senior citizen, I was hesitant to work with anyone, but even the packers were terrific. Always get full insurance, but I didn't have to use it, as nothing was damaged.

were more than helpful as I kept having to add more units. Once a portable unit arrive, let the guy in and arranged a convenient loading spot.

To say it went well is an understatement. I called
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
last minute and asked him for help. He said not a problem, set us up with two guys, asked if we needed any materials (boxes, tape, straps, etc) and said his guys would be there at whatever time we needed them to be. His two men showed up 20 minutes EARLY and without any hesitation started loading our U-hual and truck/trailer. They were extremely professional, asked us what all went, if anything stayed and what all we would like them to wrap with protective material. When loading our heavier furniture, they were cautious of hitting walls as well as damaging the furniture itself ( no walls were touched and not one single piece of furniture or misc piece was damaged in the process ). His movers then followed us to our new home and very quickly unloaded the U-hual asking us where each and every piece went to make sure we didn't have to move it again later that day. I have moved several times in my life and used several companies to help,
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
was by far my best experience. Professional, cautious and very, very respectful is the best way to describe
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
and his company. I would highly recommend using
Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
regardless of how big or small the move is.

The guys were prompt and quick with their work. I was very impressed with how great of an attitude every single employee exhibited.

Roper Storage Units Provider Name Locked
is owned and operated by a husband and wife who built the storage facility on commercial property their son owns. When I asked about the size unit we were looking for (10x20), I was told there was 'supposed' to be one opening up the following Sunday but the husband wasn't sure if the renters were actually going to be out. He did not seem to have an issue with holding the unit for me if the renters had vacated, or even holding their last 10x10 until we arrived (we were moving from out of state). He suggested I call back on Monday to confirm. I called back Wednesday and received the same response regarding the status of the 10x20 unit - only this time I spoke with his wife. At this point in time, I did not know there was no office on-site so I'm thinking, "Okay, smaller town...slower communication possibly...but how do you not know if your tenants are out or still occupying the space?" I began asking the wife about holding the 10x10 and an additional 10x5 as her husband had agreed to do, but when she was very hesitant, I offered to provide my CC info just so that they knew I was really serious. She still did not want to hold the unit and I had to reinforce our situation - we were moving back from across the country and I needed to know that I had a place to put my stuff when we arrived in the area. I even told her to just run the units on the card so that they were paid for. She finally agreed to take my card information but never did charge my card for the units.
We arrived in the area on a Friday night. First thing Saturday morning, I headed out to sign papers on the units so we could unload the moving truck - only, the address is a residential address and no where near a storage facility. I drove back to the storage facility looking for the office (someone had told me where the place was), but there was none. Just a construction company next door that shares the driveway. Confused, I called the husband and wife and was told that they do all their business out of their home, which was the correct residential address I had driven by earlier. A bit put off, I set out to the house to sign papers where my card information was entered incorrectly twice, giving me a heart attack and thinking that something had happened to all my money while we were on the road. Identity theft was my first thought until I saw him entering my second card's information incorrectly. I asked him to use my first card again, this time paying attention to how he was entering the numbers, and it went through just fine (he was typing 1's instead of 7's).
The total on the two units is $80/mo - $50 on the 10x10 and $30 on the 10x5. I was hoping that they would at least cut me a break on the total since a single larger unit was $75 (10x20 that we wanted in the first place) and I ended up getting less space. Whatever. In the rental agreement, there is no mention of how to pay for the units on the due dates - just a grace period and late fees statement. There is an address to their home, but honestly, very few people actually use paper checks anymore. There is a QR code on the front of the gate that does identify how payment can be electronically, but this should also be stated in their lease documentation. Since my payment is due, I now have to download a QR code reader app, hop in the car, and then make my payment. PayPal would probably be a more convenient payment option.
All in all, it's nice place, well-kept, the owners are friendly (enough), but there were/are some inconveniences. It's reasonably priced for other near-by facilities and has a gated entry with fencing, which many other facilities in the area do not.
