The porch project took 2 days, with an extra day for follow-up. The porch had been covered by outdoor carpet which we had removed the previous week.
's first steps were to grind away old carpet glue, wash away the debris and with a patching compound, fill in miscellaneous divots in the porch surface and walls. After the patches were dry,
troweled on an underlayer which had to dry as well. Originally we had chosen a dark grey color from a color sample and were told the color would be highlighted later with a black spray. The underlayment dried with such a light
that one of the techs recommended a different dark grey color and a different technique for covering the porch. That involved 'staining' the concrete cover rather than 'spraying' it. We could see the potential better appearance and we agreed. A second underlayment with the new grey color was troweled on and allowed to dry. When we commented that the new color was still too light, we were told that the staining step in the new process would solve the lightness. Next came using narrow tapes to build a design of our choice on the porch top and steps. An over-
with a color of our choice (we chose the same proposed darker
) was troweled on. Special effort was made to create hand-troweled 'swishes' on the surface to create a more natural look. When that dried, the tapes were pulled away to
the design and each portion of the design was hand-stained with a sponge or small brush. The 3-D effect of the stain on the hand-trowelling on the porch top was beautiful and justified the mid-stream decision to go with 'staining' over 'spraying'. The techs stained individual bricks in the border design to try to achieve the dark slate grey
we were after. When we gave feedback that even with staining, the top surface of the porch was still too light, we were told that when a sealer was applied, the color would 'pop out', so we moved on to that step.

The sealer dried to
the same lighter
instead of the hoped-for darker
and the project was done. Three days later we did ask for a follow-up. The sincere attempt by the 2 techs to stain border bricks more darkly created a big range of
from lightly-toned bricks to adjacent darker bricks. We revisited the project with
's owner and asked to reduce the 'mottling' that we saw. He immediately scheduled the 2 techs to return. They ground away the darker tones on the individual bricks and re-layered all of them with the original overlay color to create a more consistent
for the border. Our take-away is that at each step everyone tried to create the best results possible. Yet, the proposed results didn't match what the material actually manifested. I think if we had to do it over again we would stop mid-stream and look at finished projects to confirm actual color results. Different concrete overlay materials and different sealers may dry differently. We would still choose
because of their care in their handiwork at each step. We rated Quality an 'A' to reflect that pride, but chose a 'B' for Overall as a reflection of not achieving the results that were proposed (and we expected). Added note: In the attached photos, you can see how dark the sealer looks when it is wet. When it dried, it was closer to the not-sealed-yet portions of the porch.

We were very happy with the service we received from
and their owner
was great to work with and responded quickly to my texts and phone calls.
's wife
who works with him, was a joy as well. Was also impressed by the fact that
did not take payment until the job was complete and the inspection was done. Our patio cover was installed in one day. In fact we want to say a special "thank you" to
and his crew for going above and beyond. The alumawood manufacturer delivered the incorrect size beam twice, pushing back our install until almost 2-3pm.
and his assistant stayed until almost 9 pm to complete the job. Overall great experience! We would definitely use them again!

After multiple discussions and an email agreement on March 7, 2014, I sent Mr.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
, President/Owner of
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
, Inc., Hyannis, Massachusetts, a check in the amount of $2,562, as a deposit on a project to replace our present awning (originally installed by
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
in approximately 1994) with a Sunesta Retractable Awning w/ Motor for our home at 3 Weetamo Road in Nantucket,
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
. Our bank records show that
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
cashed that check. At the time, Mr.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
and I discussed our mutual desire for him to provide the materials and labor for said project during the spring of 2014, in order to beat the seasonal rush of jobs that takes place on island during the summer.
Since that time, I have made multiple efforts via phone and email to reach Mr.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
in order to determine the status of the job. I dropped by his office in Hyannis on May 14, 2014, but he was not there, so I left a message with his assistant,
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
On August 6, 2014, I sent Mr.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
a certified letter, return receipt requested, to
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
my desire, not having heard from him in five months, to end our transaction and to have him return my deposit. I also indicated in that letter that, should I not receive a check in the full amount of my deposit within ten (10) days from the date of the letter, I would take steps to file a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office of Consumer Protection, file a complaint with the Massachusetts Better Business Bureau and list a negative review of his business on media websites. The return receipt for said letter is dated August 7.
On August 11, my wife made a subsequent visit to the Hyannis office, where she found Mr.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
, who said he was just about to call us; he claimed the original awning had arrived at his office damaged, and that he had ordered a new one which he indicated would be ready to be installed within the next week. He gave my wife his cell phone number. I have called that number many times, and the mailbox has been full. I have called the office several times, and, since no one answered, I have left messages there. I finally was able to leave a voicemail message on Mr.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
's cell phone on September 6, in which message I indicated that, if I had not heard back from him over the weekend, I would, on Monday, September 8, begin to take the actions outlined in my letter.
Hence, the filing of this review as a complaint.

From the initial meeting with
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
(owner/estimator) to the finished job,I was totally satisfied. Price was fair, workmanship was excellent, and follow-up. was terrific. This company has tremendous INTEGRITY. Really sets them apart from other patio companies. I heartily recommend them.

The provider had me wait 6 days after my initial contact for him to be available for an estimate. On the day he was to arrive, I contacted him 10 minutes after our appointment time. I then received a call back nearly 20 minutes after he was scheduled to arrive saying he "got busy" and couldn't make it. So unprofessional. Would never use them again.

What a fantastic product! We love the awning. It makes the west facing patio so pleasant to sit under. No issues with the installation. We have gotten lots of compliments on it and everyone wants to see it extended. It is a fantastic product and we have said all summer that it is something we should have done years ago, it is so nice. Worth the money we spent on it, definitely.

We called
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
because they were so highly rated on Angie's List. We were initially considering a retractable awning, but told
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
when he came out that we were open to all suggestions. He suggested a stationary awning for our situation. He showed us fabrics and made suggestions based on what we had in mind. In the end, we went with the stationary awning with black fabric.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
told us it could be up six weeks before installation. We had, after all, waited until his busiest time of the year to call him. We called in the 5th week to get an update and he said it would be Thursday of the following week. And Thursday it was! His crew was very professional and had the awning in place in less than 2 hours. We love it! It looks very nice and although we were concerned about black being hot, it really isn't. If it radiates heat, we can't tell it. This past weekend, we had an all-day rain. We were able to sit on our deck, drink wine, and watch the rain in comfort for 2 hours. Our deck was virtually unusable most of the time because the sun beat down on it for most of the day. The awning has made it a great space to spend time. The fabric has a 10 year prorated warranty.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
told us the cost of replacement would be about 1/2 of the original job, but to keep in mind that is many years down the road. They did a very nice job and I would recommend them. This Angie's List stuff works!

They were very careful and measured and re-measured to get the shade in the optimal place over the deck. It looks fantastic and was installed in time for a wedding around the pool. Perfect!! When I asked about taking it down in the late Fall, they said it was easy to do. I am old. I don't take down huge sail shades, and they said they would do that for me and store the shade for the winter. What great service. I am sooooo impressed!

I had
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
install my house motorized awning in 1992. It has been awesome. Last night, the awning wouldn't reel in. I got worried, because I live on a quite windy hill. I had visions of my roof ripping off and landing in the Atlantic. I called
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
in a panic.
Mebane Awning Companies Provider Name Locked
called in 2 guys (who, by the way, had the day off today) who came right out. The motor had a problem, so they worked VERY hard to hand roll the awning in and tie it down. After 22 years of constant use, this awning doesn't owe me anything. I have opted to buy a new one to replace it instead of merely getting a new motor. I so appreciate their quick attention to my panic. Great professionalism!
