Ceramic Tiling Reviews in Matthews

I contacted
after reading rave reviews about his work on Angie's List. I told him that I was interested in installing kitchen backsplash. He came to my house that same day to consult with me and I showed him photo's of my neighbor's backsplash which was similar to what I wanted. He said it would be no problem to do that work in my kitchen and he gave me a card for Daltile with a contact name to select the tiles I wanted.
said if I use his contact, there would be a 20% discount on the tile. I scheduled an appointment at Daltile and met with his contact there. She was very helpful to me with the selection of 4"x4" travertine tile, 2"x2" decorative glass emblems, pencil, grout and caulking. She sketched the design that I wanted for
to follow. I came home with a few samples of the tile, pencil and glass emblems along with the sketch and made an appointment to see
in my home again the next day. Once he saw everything, he was able to determine how much material I needed and I went back to Daltile with the information. The contact at Daltile said that the tile was in stock but they would have to order the glass emblems, which might take some time. I was in no hurry because we were scheduled to go away for two weeks and
was busy as well.
contacted me about 2 weeks after I returned from my trip to let me know that the order was in and he was ready to do the job. He came early in the morning on the scheduled day along with another worker and they worked diligently all afternoon until all the tile was up.
came back alone the next morning to caulk, grout & seal the tile. He cleaned up everything and left the house in good order. The backsplash came out beautiful. I would recommend
to anyone and would definitely use him again for tile work. He is professional, courteous and easy to work with. The tile cost $551 (with the 20% discount) and
charged $1,000.00 for labor. I believe the prices were very fair.

The story starts in mid 2012 when we had several A rated Angie's
List companies quote on a partial restoration of our master
One of those contractors was
. His quote
was competitive, but not the lowest. We were far more impressed by

than any of the others. Our issue was whether to do a complete or
partial renovation. We decided to delay the decision, but were certain
that we wanted
when we made a decision. We contacted

again early in November of 2013 asking he come out and provide a quote
for a complete renovation. Since he had already quoted more than 12
months earlier on a partial renovation, we expected and did pay for the
second quote. At this point
had no competitors. (By the way,
's quotes are thorough and require a lot of work on his part.)
The quote was accepted and the 5 week job was scheduled to begin with
demolition on February 3, 2014. It began and finished on time despite
our adding several items as the job progressed.

The project started as scheduled on 2/3/2014 with demolition and ended as

Three issue arose during the project that added to the materials and labor costs. The first was problems with stripping wallpaper from the existing drywall. We were aware of the potential problem since we were uncertain whether the drywall had been primed when the house was built. This required replacement of the drywall. The second issue was the extent of water damage in the tub and shower area. We knew there was damage and it would have to be addressed. The damage was significant and required extensive repairs. The third issue was the use of polybutylene tubing for water piping in the crawl space when the house was built in 1994. We decided to replace it even though there were no leaks. Each of these three issues required extra labor and materials.

for the additions to project scope were fair and reasonable. The work was completed during the scheduled project time frame.
The project was always on schedule, issues were handled quickly and

takes great pride in his work and everything is done and completed to perfection. He listened carefully to our ideas and took us to his source for selecting tile and was actively involved in our selection process and kept our budget at the forefront of all selections.
Both bathrooms were completely gutted and everything replaced. Problems that were uncovered in the process such as leaks, mildew, insulation replacement and rot were pointed out to us, discussed and taken care of. Any workers that were brought in such as plumbers and tile workers were always supervised by

has a strong work ethic and we consider him a true European artisan. This combination is rare to find. As long time homeowners, we have hired many people to do a variety of work for our home. No one has ever taken as much time or pride in their work as

I hate trips to the flooring store because of all the choices.

is a life saver, she on many occasions provided suggestion that kept my time in the store to a minimum. Her installers are great, fast, hard working and very professional. We have used their services twice and will use again. The rebuild of the shower is something to brag about. Had a plumber asked who did the shower because he was redoing his.

Their workmanship was impeccable and they consistently showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves and just did a terrific job.

went out of his way to find beautifully complimentary colors and he has a really great eye for design. I was very pleased and I don't think they charge enough for the high level work they do!

We have noted down them and one other but we haven't made our final decision. The total estimate was for $6000. I liked their approach. They can do it all rather than having separate contractors. They are husband and wife team, they come out and do the estimate. I think they are experienced.

We have worked with other tile installers who are all about installation and nothing about design. Our floor design concept was somewhat risky and
Matthews Tiling Experts Provider Name Locked
was great at helping us bring it all together. That included selecting just the right shade of tile to go with all of the new cabinetry and appliances. He showed us a really nifty brick pattern layout that made it look even better and was very patient while we hemmed and hawed over grout color. Pick the wrong shade and the floor was going to look crazy! But, we ended up with a great looking floor.

had to deal with kids and a very hairy dog (not good for fresh grout) while trying to get tile down in the most high-traffic areas of our house. We look forward to him coming back in a few weeks to help us design and install the back splash in our new kitchen. He already has some good ideas, even if he doesn't like the wall color I ended up choosing. ;)

The rest of the work is great but I have real problems with the tub. I am so irritated with this company. We moved into the house about six or seven months after he finished the work. He came back and one point to do some touchups but I?ve had a problem again and he won?t call me back. I called him last year and I called him this year. I was even willing to pay him but he won?t call me back. He has very good reports because he is very good initially but he doesn?t follow up on his work at all. He is supposed to have a five year warranty but he doesn?t live up to that at all. Initially he was very good but I?m disappointed that he?s ignored me. I called him a couple of months after he did the work and two or three times after that. I just

?t think he stands behind his work. For someone who wants a long-term product, I would never recommend him. I thought the price was comparable but it is unprofessional to ignore phone calls. I?m going to have to pay someone to take off what he did and redo the tub. It?s in a bathroom that is only used by guests so it hasn?t had a lot of use and it should have stood up.

My experience with them was positive, but I did not go with them because their initial quote was a little bit higher. They came out when they said they would and showed up on the time they said they would. I went with the other company because he was younger and had some better ideas and they other reason was that he uses the new thing that makes everything water proof, but this company said that he did not need to do all that.

and his crew were very thorough in every aspect of the job. They took the time to listen to our desires and advised us accordingly at every phase. We had kitchen flooring that was ready to install and prior to that, they discovered that they would need to shore up floor from underneath buildup and immediately began that phase, to insure proper safety/support. Original builder did not do a thorough enough job, and we had squeaky floors, probably unsafe! We were very impressed with beautiful workmanship of tile installer. The schedule was put together so that the granite, new

and sink and new garbage disposal were all installed in a timely manner, coordinated with the flooring, and was finished by Easter weekend even though we changed our mind on the tile we selected partway through, delaying it for a week! This builder is extremely trustworthy and one of the most reputable out there, a member of NARI. We would not hesitate to highly recommend him and would say to not to bother wasting your time talking to anyone else! To state that we are really happy with our new kitchen is an understatement...its a work of art!
