"A little history--- Every year during the holidays, I start thinking about installing floor to ceiling bookshelves in my home office. Several years ago I had a" contractor come out to measure for a quote. He never called with a quote, and even after several calls to him, he never returned my call. This is was an $8000 job, so it's not exactly small. Last year, I sent a message through Angie's list to a contractor and he never contacted me. So this year when I sent an email through Angie's list on 1/4/2015 to a third contractor, I didn't expect anything either. To my disbelief,
called the very next morning (1/5/2015) and set an appt for the next day (1/6/2015). He arrived on time, took measurements, looked at the pictures of what I wanted and said he would contact us with a quote two days later. AND HE DID! We accepted the quote on 1/9/2015 and mailed him a deposit. The next week he called and said he received the check. They would begin working on building the bookshelves offsite, and would be ready to install on 1/23/2015. Throughout the process he kept in contact with me. At the beginning of the week, he confirmed that he would be ready to install on 1/23/2015. Then on 1/21/2015 he said they were ready, and asked if we would like to move up the install one day to 1/22/2013. Bring it on! He and his crew of 2 arrived on time, were very polite and professional, cleaned up after themselves, and left us with the most beautiful built in bookcases ever. Right out of a magazine. I LOVE them! Let me say that we have survived two custom built homes and one 10,000 sq ft office. While I hate to generalize, the large majority of subcontractors that we have worked with have not been reliable, and certainly not polite. They may have gotten the job done, but it was not a pleasant experience. But with this experience...it was totally pleasant. I couldn't be more pleased. In fact, we've already asked him for a quote on a second project! Five out of four stars! I'd recommend him highly.

-Tina O.

"The service was excellent from the time that I was given a quote to the completion of the job. They arrived on time always, made sure that everything was covered," kept me informed, answered all questions, and cleaned up every day. I can not say enough about how nice and professional all of the workers were. The experience was simply wonderful!

Not really.  If the contractor is very careful and you are really lucky he might be able to pull them out and then reinstall them after the new cabinets are installed.  A lot of this will have to do with how well the counters were installed in the first place.  Also, the existing countertops may not line up with the new cabinets exactly in some areas as well as they do now.  The better option is to have the cabinets refaced, leaving the boxes and tops in place.  Unlless you have deteriorating particle board cabinets you should be able to get a carpenter to do this.  If you decide to remove the countertops and install new cabinets factor in new tops and be pleasantly surprised if they can be reinstalled afterall.  Realize you probably won't find a contractor willing to gurantee not damaging the tops.  If you do, dig in and research him well.  He likely doesn't have enough experience.

IF dirty enough to make for a musty odor, then paint won't stick to them properly anyway. Paint is not your solution - you probably need a Deep Cleaning. Try to pin down what types of smell it is - if damp, mildewy; rotten food; or musty fabric - will help guide you to the source maybe. Another thing to do is keep all doors closed for a full day when outside temp is such that furnace and A/C can be turned off - then walk around the house, sniffing - preferably with 2 people - and see if one room is the major contributor. I have played this game, and found all the following as sources of musty smells: 1) linen in a closet without ventilation going slightly mildewy 2) water leak in walls or floors enough to cause mold but not drywall staining or visible water 3) carpets needing cleaning 4) water leak in bath or kitchen leaking under floor, causing mold there which is not pronounced in smell because under the flooring 5) attic mildew/mold from leaks or moisture condensation on insulation/wood 6) moldy plants outside - left in garden/flower bed in fall, so rotted in winter/spring 7) clothes in closets touching outside wall, so in very cold weather acted as insulator and let freezing front come to inside of wall, causing frost and moisture to buildup there from the inside moisture, eventually causing mildew/mold (same process as condensation/ice on inside of windows with curtains over them) 8) failure to clean behind kitchen appliances and under sink, or under washer/dryer/dishwasher at least when repaired or changed out 9) heavy lint accumulation in bathroom fan going mildewy 10) grease trap in kitchen exhaust fan never cleaned 11) washing machine going moldy - run a cycle of towels or such with bleach and Borax 12) the number one cause I have found - clothes stacked in closets or hope chests or such for decades get very musty even if clean and ventilated

As long as the counter is big enough Corian is one of the easier ones to work with. Since it does not have the ground or crushed stone that some of the other material have you can work with normal woodworking tools. A saw with a fine tooth carbide blade and a professional grade router with the proper shaped carbde bit can be used if the edge needs finishing. A belt sander helps on cuts also. The only problem you might have is if you need the joint kits for seaming as I dont think you can buy them.

When Corian first came out I could buy the slabs and fabricate my own tops and then Dupont went to a certified distributor system and would no longer sell to those of us that had been working with it for years. I will admit that they did have reasons for this as not all that were working with the product were doing it right.

Cabinet Refacing reviews in Lexington

I have to say that I was not ready for the appointment that I was about to have. All I simply wanted to do was find out if refacing my cabinets would be much cheaper than buying new cabinets. I already have new counter-tops, so I didn't want to pay for all new cabinets in my kitchen. I have an average to small sized kitchen, new cabinets would cost anywhere from 6,500 to 11,0000 depending on what we wanted to buy.
I found Kitchen Savers and the MD home and garden show and figured what would it hurt to have someone come in and give me an estimate. What followed was ridiculous. Kitchen savers kept calling our home 3-4 times a week to schedule an appointment until we finally did. When we scheduled the appointment, they did not tell us that this would be an appraisal that had to be procured that same evening. This was not a true estimate at all. It's a sales tactic to push you into making a bad decision. When the salesman came, I would like to say that he did an excellent job of making us feel comfortable through the process. He did take measurements of the cabinets and showed us several different options that rainged in different costs. I think he did a fine job of representing Kitchen Savers and the product he was selling. He had many years of sales expertise, he was not a young trying to make a buck guy..... That being said, he didn't lead with the fact that we had to make a decision right there and then. If he had, it would have saved us both a 2 hour process. After my wife and I had picked out the cabinet door, and the hardware, and the finish, he then began to figure the price. I was suprised to find the cost was nearly the cost of a new cabinet. I was thinking it would be around half the price since the installation is MUCH MUCH simpler.
The salesman was not too happy when I told him that I wanted some time to price this out and look at my options. He just kept saying how I may be able to find someone cheaper, but the quality would significantly go down. He kept pointing to the fact that his rating was so good on Angies List, that I would not find a better quality in the area. That being said, I told him that I had no experience with cabinet refacing, and I was never in a position to make a decision that night, whether I could afford it or not. I just don't spend money that way, and neither should any of you.
If you go with Kitchen savers, just understand they are pushing you to make a quick decision to make a buck, not because they are sooo busy. That is just a lie. Do your homeowork first.

I asked for a certain finish on my cabinets and he wasn't able to do what I was needing. He informed me that it was be almost impossible unless he stained the entire cabinets and didn't think I would be able to afford the service.

We had done our homework and knew what we wanted for cabinet refacing, quartz counters, faucets, sinks. The installers the company sent were punctual which we appreciated. The installations of everything went well but there was a definite lack of attention to details: a 6 by 6 inch hole left for weeks in our kitchen touching a electrical switch box, true it was covered when the backsplash was put in but it was unsightly and next to an electrical outlet, a gap around our kitchen island created from replacing the old counter with the new, yes our old molding was used to close the gap but I had to seal the new nail whole and paint the wall, I has to ask for sealer around the new bathroom sinks where there was a visible gap from the top of the counter to the top of the sink. Fine, finished details is a weakness. the plumbers did a good job in their instillation of kitchen sink, faucets, garbage disposal, filtered water faucet.

At first I communicated with emails because I like documentation. No email was ever responded to. Phone calls had time delays up to more than 24 hours. Texting seemed to work but with delays. During the project, I stopped in the office to communicate some concerns. I learned our project manager was on a 4 day cruise. Someone in the office wrote down my concerns but no one in management or anyone else responded. I had to wait until our project manager returned from the cruise. All the workmen, installers, plumbers etc. arrived on time. CThe workmen who did all the installation were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. We took the precautions of covering our furniture with plastic when the kitchen counters were installed. There was a significant about of “quartz dust” from the drilling of the holes for the faucets.

We purchased all the faucets for bathroom sinks, kitchen sink, the kitchen sink, water filtration faucet and garbage disposal independently from the company. The two new bathroom sinks were purchased from the company. The company staff were polite.

The lack of prompt communication, the lack of attention to installation details are the reasons I would not hire the company again.

The guy came on right time, but while doing the estimation process he was in rush doesn't answer my question very well, it seems to us they are not interested in our business.
He took all measurement and email me back couple days later just rough estimation by email just few text what include and final price no solid word press or pdf documents which include company name or stuff, so don't know who send that email actual real company or someone third party. No follow up after that or solid doc explaining the process.
I m still in

- Ratilal S.

They were very helpful from start to finish, did everything on schedule. Due to an added idea that came up in conversation during the measuring and estimate, there was a misunderstanding about whether that was included in the estimate— but since we thought it was included they did not charge extra for it.

Lexington Cabinet Refacers Provider Name Locked
did an awesome job on our kitchen cabinets. We had light colored maple cabinets, and wanted to refinish them in a darker color. She visited our house and helped us select a color to match our granite and other furnishings (walnut). Then, over the

of a week, she worked both in our home and at her facility to complete the job. We wanted a darker stain with some character -- didn't want it to look like solid paint. She did a wonderful job adding depth and variation to the color, leaving us with a very warm and custom look. We did have one cabinet door that was damaged prior to her beginning work.

does not perform cabinet repairs, but still did her best to stain the damaged cabinet. However, we decided we will need to have someone build a new door for us, and she has an employee who will be able to build the door. She also will stain the new door at no additional cost. We are very happy with our newly stained kitchen cabinets!

My multiple contacts with the folks listed above was most educational. I was able to take their suggested hinges and install them. The result looked good and greatly pleased my spouse.

They did an excellent job. Two technicians were out and completed the job in under a week. They were very courteous and professional. They were very quick and efficient workers. They kept the house clean while they were working and were great at cleaning up after each day. It was a pleasure working withe company. It was very easy to schedule the project.
