"Standard of care dictates that I should have received radiation on that breast. Dr. Tarnower felt that since the surgeon had removed so many lymph nodes, that radiation could mess up" my arm. A vaild point, I thought at the time. I really felt that I should get the radiation given all that I had read and so I suggested that maybe I should see a radiation oncologist. She told me that I could see every radiation oncologist in town and they would all tell me that I should get radiation. She said that after the radiation, they would be gone and it would be up to her to take care of me and my arm. Seemed a little self serving but I stupidly gave her the benefit of the doubt. About a month later I asked if she could give me a referral for a mammogram and she told me that I don't need mammograms anymore because they are for early screening and I already had bone metastases so no reason to bother with mammograms. It was at that point that I decided I needed another doctor. Since then I have been told that I did not receive complete treatment from her and the breast imaging center that I go to every 6 months for mammograms still has a problem believing that she would tell me not to get mammograms after having cancer in both breasts. Now my tumor markers are on the rise and it could mean breast cancer has come back to the breast that Dr. Tarnower did not think needed radiation. I feel like she figured I had bone metastases so there is no point in doing all these tests because I am a goner. Well, I am still here and no thanks to her. Incompetent doctor.

"Oh boy I was impressed with the way I was handled. They were trying to find out if the cancer had returned, there were assorted things they did. Other doctors have examined me and" they can't even find the scars, they have to look real hard to see where he cut because he did such a good job. He's not lengthy, he has a certain kind of bedside manner but he's not lengthy. He fills out the situation for you and offers you options. I can tell from other doctors who have reacted to my surgical area that he is an extremely good surgeon, better than the average. There was no problem. I've known others who have developed infections and there were no problems, it was a fast healing incision. He would tell you when to come back and you wouldn't wait around forever to see him. I would send anyone to him. He handled the whole thing extremely well. He didn't act like oh you poor thing, which you don't need to hear. He even
me a picture and offered you options to chose from. The billing department knows what they are doing, I got my bill and everything else was covered. When they learned I was moving they wrote up a nice letter to prepare people where I went to for my situation.

Oncology reviews in Kernersville

She is an amazing doctor. She pays attention to the patient. Her focus is entirely on the patient, how the patient is feeling and what is going on with the patient. She has a very patient approach to people. She is very professional at first then she becomes more personable. We never had any problem with her and even if she squeezes us in. We are sticking with her and her services.

The staff at Highland Oncology Center has made a grueling, scary process bearable through their attitude, concern and professionalism. Everything went well through a series of 15 treatments lasting up to six hours each with only a couple of exceptions. On two occasions the nurses did not correctly access my medication port, causing great pain, and on one other occasion a third nurse bled on my port when taking off his glove because his cut finger was not properly bandaged. All the other visits went very well; the nurses went out of their way to provide comfort and make the procedure as stress-free as possible.

The first time I met the doctor he seemed ok. He shows me the tools and the screen where I can also watch the procedure and see the inside of my bladder as he goes along. Just a note: a healthy bladder is a beautiful color inside - it looks like another world and it's so amazing. While the scope is looking this way and that - he is explaining what I am seeing - air bubbles, the bladder wall..and then he says, "and you have a cancer tumor right there." WHHAAAAATTT?? I don't expect that news to be delivered like that - just so "matter of factly." Please wait until I am dressed and in an upright position! He removes the scope so I can get dressed and asks me to meet him in his office just next door. I do so, and the next few minutes are a blur - other than it's a small tumor - caught early and will be just a quick removal at an out-patient surgical center. He tells me how the surgery will be performed and I may leave the surgical center with or without a catheter. He asked me if I had any questions (I think) but I just shake my head. He then points to his surgery scheduling folks and says they will take care of me and he leaves. My head is still spinning a little bit but I get my surgical appointment made for Monday

6th (I would be on vacation that week from work) and leave. I get to my car and text my supervisor to let her know. I am believe I am still in a state of shock at this time but I do make it home.I get home and contact the rest of my family - they are comforted by me telling them that apparently it's no large-scale thing and it's just a quick in/out and on with life.I go on my planned vacation the end of June/first few days of

. It was glorious with a shadow. It was a lot of travel by plane, car and walking. I went thru Denver, a bit of Canada, Niagara Falls and many New England states in 10 days. I get home and I am exhausted. I have to take 3 resting stops from baggage to my sister's car - so I blame it on the cancer just making me tired. I show up for my surgery and they discover that during my trip I had developed blood clots in both legs and in my lungs! My tumor removal will be postponed until this new mess is cleared up.My bladder cancer surgery was rescheduled to September 15th, 2009. My sister and my daughter were with me and the staff at the surgical center was awesome. I really don't remember much of the procedure because the medications/anesthesia - but it was done. I left there with a catheter and was given a date to return to his office for a follow up and removal of the catheter. I was told that I would have to have a follow up cystoscopy ever few months since bladder cancer has a high recurrence rate. During some of the following scopes there would be times I would wait, "in position" for over 20-30 minutes for him to appear and do the scope. He seemed to be amused by my anxiety at times and I do believe he could be a little more light-handed with the scope as a few times it seemed to uncomfortably jab me. He definitely is NOT a people person. It's like in, out, and off to the next.I was supposed to have a scope this past April but his office called and said they have changed locations and dates where the do the scopes so I told them I would recall and reschedule with them. Unfortunately, I have not done so and have just recently changed my insurance plan so I can pick my own specialists and don't need a referral!I am currently reviewing other urologists and hope to find one that I can be comfortable with.

The waiting room is spacious, clean, with plenty of light and not too many out of date magizines. The front office staff is personable; always asking how I am doing.
The nurses who draw my blood are highly skilled and excellent at what they do.The nurses know to wrap my arm over the blood draw site with a self sticking bandage and not to use a Band-Aid.
The exam rooms are of a sufficient size as to not feel boxed in.
Sometimes I have to wait for Dr

I had this appointment since previous office visit in January. I arrived a little early, was promptly taken from the general waiting room to an examining room, where a staffer handled routine matters such as taking temperature, checking BP, etc. Staffer told me Dr

would be in, "in a few minutes". about 35 minutes later Dr.
Kernersville Oncologists Provider Name Locked
came in. She was friendly and professional. I needed a new prescription for my hormone therapy pills (down to zero refills). She called it in directly to my pharmacy. She also recommended I buy some OTC Vitamin-D - Calcium supplement pills for bone health. Set up another appointment in an additional 6 months. Discussed medical things I should be doing to help prevent/detect any possible further cancer problems.

He is very good. He is willing to give me references to other doctors. He is a pleasant man, who is interested in your total well being as well as your cancer. His office environment is OK. Sometime the University Health System is too big and serves too many people to be really comfortable. There are pros and cons, they do a good job, if you are prepared to wait to be seen, it is good. You don't get any quickies there. When I needed him, he was very available. I don't need to see him often now because I am three years away from my surgery, so I see his nurse practitioner. The chairs are comfortable, which is nice because you have to sit in them for a long time.
