"HVWS owner and installer were polite and knowledgeable throughout whole process. Responded quickly to inquiries and worked well with window manufacturer to provide" us with technical information. Represented product accurately, listened to what we wanted and respected our request to pay attention to certain details of our house/window that were apparently different from other replacement windows. Good price. Installation looks great; good cleanup.

Angie's Answers

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

Thermal numbers look okay when looking at the NFRC.

Do you have any other data on them?  Air infiltration, Design Pressure, Visible Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance are all good evaluators.

Air infiltration rate is way high at 0.21.

It may look nice in person but the performance numbers are below average.

Window Replacement reviews in Flat Rock

Horrible experience.
We hired this company in April and still have missing trim and no siding on our windows (five months later).
When hired they asked if we wanted financing to which we agreed. We were signed up for a home improvement loan through a bank...cool. We were also signed up for a home improvement credit card at 27% interest...not cool. So we were doubly financed, one of which at a ridiculous rate, which we terminated.
The original installer came right out on a Friday and set up a big saw in the back yard and several piles of siding and left for the day making us

use of the back yard. After two weeks he installed the soffiting...over the existing wood...some of it rotting creating a nice safe home for the termites to breed and left unused siding in a box by the fence...where it still sits.
After two months we were able to schedule the window install, the installer no showed 3 days in a row making me waist days off.
When the installers did show they hung the windows very crooked, when I pointed it out they said that they had to hang them level to lock and the window holes weren't square meaning they had no choice but to be crooked. Awesome.
The next day when the sun came out it was obvious that whatever gas was supposed to be inside the window is NOT in there and it was intolerable to stand by the window when the sun was out. I called the company and they agreed to replace them, no problem. They were supposed to do that yesterday...and no showed again.
we've been playing this game for five months. I don't have a finished job. I don't have energy saving. I've got a pile of material in the yard that I don't have an expectation of getting used. This is nonsense. Absolute nonsense.
Every time we call the office they're great. They're polite and helpful and give you the warm and fuzzy that everything is going to get worked out. If only it did!
- Anthony S.

The installers did an excellent job, which took the better part of one day. The windows required a lot of fitting on both the interior and exterior walls. These windows had to meet the exact requirements of our condo association, which limited our options when choosing a window style. The installation was more complex than a typical window install. One of the company's owners answered all our questions and personally came back to inspect the final work.
- Katherine E.

This company is by far the most efficient and professional company I've worked with on a house related project. Several neighbors used PCS for window replacement a couple years earlier, which is how we got the referral. We worked with

to get the process going with filing the insurance claim and he walked us through every detail. He continued to stay on top of the process from start to finish. Typically, ordering custom windows takes time, but there were no delays. Once the windows arrived, the install was scheduled, and the team had them up in a day.

and his entire team (painters, installers) were very experienced. A+ all the way for this company. Thank you!
- Brenda D.

Besides the wonderful view we now have of the beach, the experience with
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was awesome. He came to the house to give me ideas about my project, listened to my vision, and put it all together for a wonderful enhancement to my house.
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
is punctual, responsive, courteous, and will do whatever it takes to make you happy with the job you hired him to do. His crew was professional, and cleaned everything up after the job was done. I would hire him again in an instant!
- Gina E.

Great. They came out to measure when I was not there - very accommodating. I had marked the window for them. Took less than two weeks to have the window made and they came and installed at a scheduled time. I would highly recommend this company for window repair
- Reed F.

Being this was my second time around doing new windows I am a tough cookie. Overall the experience went extremely well. The other window company I used before is still in business so I contacted them for a quote via phone and email but I never received a reply. The next thing I did was reach out to three other companies and the Sales People really worked me, not on product but price. I am in the car business and this turned on my spider since. So I put the project on the back burner. One days
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
contacted me, I was in the middle of getting new floors put in and I told him I will give you 20 Minutes. He presented his product and I saw some important differences right away. The Window Frames are vinyl and he explained the 100% virgin vinyl and how that is important to the longevity of the product. I first hand had experienced the UV attacking the first vinyl windows I purchased by causing the outer frames being milky and when you rub it a lot of vinyl powers off the frame after only 2 Arizona years. The other thing was the welds on the vinyl seams are the best I have ever seen. The triple pane windows are stout, after being installed for over six weeks I have only dusted once. I noise reduction is superior also, today my neighbor is getting a new pool installed, I didn’t know it unit I went out for the mail and the cement truck the pumper truck we going at it big time The process was really pretty easy,
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
provided the quote and it was inline but the product is superior. Then Nick came out and verified the window order (I didn’t realize I have 39 windows) with a moderate down payment. It took about 6 weeks for the windows to be manufactured. They called us about 2 weeks in advance of installation to schedule it. It took about 2 days for them to install 39 windows throughout the house; the installation crew was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. It was the peak of summer in
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
so the house was not open very long. It was a large crew, my wife said every time she turned around another installer that said good morning. They checked every detail of the installation to ensure that the windows were installed properly and sealed. The sales person followed up after the installation to find out how it went and was very open to any thoughts and suggestions. He explained that the 30 year warranty is fully transferable if we decide to sell the house. Before the windows just didn't do the house justice. Now the house looks much better and the neighbors are very excited to see the improvement. A few are really inspired and getting the home improvement bug. Right away we noticed how much quieter the house is. The dust is down 90%, I have been able to bump up the air conditioning to a higher temperature by 2 degrees because the house is much better insulated and sealed. I know this will affect our power bill over time in a positive way big time. The

teams are the best! Sincerely

It went really well. They came to my house on time and worked with me closely to make sure I was getting what I wanted. He was very considerate of my vision of what I wanted to be the end result.
Adding this window really changed the space and I was very happy with all the dialog that went into choosing the proper location and size for this new window. I had the idea but
Flat Rock Window Installers Provider Name Locked
made it happen. Thanks guys!
Only one minor bump, if you want to pay with credit, then keep in mind that you will be responsible for the 3-5% cost of the transaction. These guys work hard for tight margins and and quotes are based on a cash price.
- Drake Z.

Everything went great! From my initial meeting with the salesman to the install, everybody I dealt with was well informed of their products and very professional. Company representatives were always on time, and finished the job in the time frame given. Even received a follow up call from the owner of the company to make sure that everything went smooth, and to make sure I was completely satisfied. I would definitely use them again!
