House Painting Reviews in Fairview

I am a general contractor and I am building this house for myself and my adorable wife.
Maltry has been a pleasure to deal with as was the head of his painting crew,
. They sprayed/brushed 2 coats of
Duration paint on my siding, soffet, fascia and trim. The price was extremely fair. The crew showed up on time, worked hard and finished in a timely manner. We created a punch list of items I wanted touched up at the end of the job and they were there the next day and addressed all items to my satisfaction. I would use this company again without hesitation. Do not make the mistake of using a different painting business in buncombe county. You will be pleased with the quality of their work and their absolute insistence on leaving you as a satisfied customer.

This was a rather large job. The crew reliably showed up on schedule every day until the job was finished. 2-3 people were assigned to the project each day. We were well informed if they weren't going to work because of weather....more />
They removed and replaced exterior doors and trim, installed new lock sets and repaired rotten door trim. Once complete, they pressure washed the home exterior, caulked, and painted siding and trim on 3 stories. I know the job was difficult because of the property's steepness, however the employees did not once complain.
The entire crew was very courteous and considerate of others. All equipment and ladders were moved out of the way at the close of work each day as to minimize their intrusion, which was much appreciated and a nice touch. Drop cloths protected all surfaces and we had no issues with paint splashes or drips. Excellent attention to detail - the team worked hard to make sure that we, the customers, were happy with their work. They asked questions for anything they were not sure about, rather than just doing their own thing, which was quite refreshing. The team's responsiveness to suggestions was outstanding. On several occasions, they made recommendations concerning painting to which we agreed. Their suggestions were great and the finished job turned out looking very complete and professional.
We would recommend the A+ team without hesitation and plan to contact them again soon for some more work.

Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
(the owner) has been rude, completely unprofessional (entering our house without knocking or otherwise announcing himself, sitting on our toilet seat to have a conversation with us, etc.), & chronically late (by several hours - once as many as 5 hours late) every time we have needed to meet with him. He is unresponsive to email (taking over a week to respond after we agreed to hire him), & communicates through his workers rather than directly with us (the customers). And when
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
does communicate with us, we can not rely on what he says, because he doesn't do what he says he will do (one example being telling us he'd use a high-build paint to cover textured wallpaper, then ordering thin paint that made his guys have to use many cans, and finally put a thick textured faux finishing paint on top to cover what still showed through).
He originally guaranteed us that the entire painting job would be completed within 7 business days including some faux finishes and painting ceilings in the agreed-upon rooms. It is now the end of day 14, with the exterior portion not even started, and he is asking for a final walkthrough and payment without completing the job. Additionally, his men who moved furniture in our office on the first day gouged our hardwood floors, and that has not been fixed yet either.
Some of his employees (

Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
did address this (poorly) by speaking to the employee mid-shift in front of the whole crew & not sending him back the next day, but it was an uncomfortable position to be put in as the customer, & that employee was clearly unhappy to be working in our home after

chastised him in the middle of the workday.
He clearly need to hire an administrative staff person, since he's slow to respond via email and his invoices are as disorganized as everything else. The first "invoice" he gave us was a random series of bullet points that were presented in a stream-of-consciousness manner, without clear

or itemized expenses. It took several minutes to decipher and was the least professional invoice I've ever seen.
The only positive in this was that
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
didn't do any of the work. He said he was going to come in & do the faux finish, but the sample he gave us was terrible, & would've looked ridiculous on our wall. We nicely requested that his 2 employees we trusted do the faux finish, because we had no faith or trust in his abilities after seeing his sample.

did an excellent job throughout the entire project, and were helped on one of the faux finishes by

have repeatedly had to work 9-12 hour days.
Overall this was a terrible experience, and has left us with an incomplete job 2 weeks after the original finish date & less than a week before our guests arrive.
UPDATE: The project is finished now after more hassle with the owner of
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
. We work from home and his presence was disruptive, so we finally had to request that he send his guys, but that he was not come to our house without a set appointment when we would be present. He didn't seem to like this and asked, "Am I not allowed on my job site while they are working?" and we reminded him that it was not HIS job site, it is OUR home. We settled the matter by asking him to email us a detailed, itemized invoice (unlike the first one) when the work was complete, and that we would mail him a check, rather than have to deal with him again in person.

They were very nice and did a god job, my only concern is that I never got any response back about a small area of vinyl siding that was cracked, I think, whilee they were pressure washing the house. It may not have happened during this time but I did ask that it be looked at and never got any response one way or the other.
- Anne B.

He asked if I was getting other estimates. I told him that I had already gotten one. He asked if the provider tested the house for lead. I told him that he had not. He said something to the effect of "well, he's already broken the law by not doing that!" And then he stared at me, waiting for a response. I didn't respond. He asked what I thought about that and then proceeded to talk about how I shouldn't want that guy to do the job since he had not done the lead test. I asked him to just do his estimate. He seemed more interested in putting down the other provider than providing me with a quote. He also said that his quote would probably be much higher than the previous estimate since he was going to follow the law.
I called the State to see if it was true that providers were required to do a lead test. The man from the State said that if the provider assumes that lead is in the paint, they won't necessarily do a test. As long as they protect the property, they don't need to do a test.
The other provider, who is on Angie's List, is coming to start the job on

I don't think it is very professional to talk poorly about their competitors.

They not only did a fantastic job throughout, even suggesting a paint
color when what we chose just wasn't right, in several cases went
above and beyond. In one case they found that some of the crown molding
was not properly attached and took the initiative to fix it to be right
and then caulked all of it to look very professional. The house was
empty but they were extremely careful to protect the flooring, windows
and kitchen cabinetry. The job took slightly longer than planned but
they worked extremely hard, and very long days, to get it done without
sacrificing the quality. We are very pleased and will call upon them

and his crew are very professional, neat, courteous, and thorough from start to finish. This is the third time
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
has recoated my Cedar-sided home in 16 years and he is able to restore that just-built look every time. I believe
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
also did most, if not all, of the interior finishing when the house was being built, since his name was the first name from my builder when I asked for a recommendation when it came time for the Woodgaurd recommended first recoat. We were still living over 600 miles away when the final work on the house was underway, but we have yet to find anything missed, any sloppy edging, or any obvious shortcuts in the finishing.
Woodguard is rather slow drying and should be applied heavily to allow penetration into the Cedcar siding. It does tend to run, so the crew covers everything that could be dripped on with plenty of

paper, sheets of corrugated cardboard and masking tape.
At the end of each day, they clean up as if they weren't even there that day, excep;t for the still-wet drip protection, still doing it's job.
we've had an almost record-breaking rainy season here in western NC this year.
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
waits until everything is dry before continuing work. When the job was almost complete,
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his crew started extra-early with extra hands to coimplete everything before the rainy weather predicted (correctly) for the next two days.
I can't imagine calling anyone other than
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
when it is time to do this again in 7-8 years. Finally, the price is always right and fair.
Fairview Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
, I would have still saId this even without the half sandwich you brought me back from Subway one day.
