"They stuck within their initial estimate, even though they were here almost the entire day removing the old water heater and prepping to install the new one. I have" been very happy with the new unit since they installed over a year ago.

-robert P.

" Arrived on time, and was friendly. He explained process before starting, showed me products to be installed, confirmed what" I wanted and that I was comfortable where he suggested the drinkintg water faucet to go. Installation was extremely fast and the cleaned up completely after install. I liked that he explained the process and offered tips to maintain my new system and prolong its product life.

3 tips to select the best water treatment

Don't overpay for the wrong water treatment system. One highly rated provider offers some tips to help you choose the right system for your home.

Water softeners

Even if your tap water comes from a reservoir, chances are it previously passed through underground caverns where it absorbed mineral deposits. Water with a high concentration of minerals is referred to as "hard" water. It's safe to drink but can harm your plumbing and appliances.

Angie's Answers

I actually just replaced my Pelican Natursoft "water softener" with an more-traditional ion exchange model.  I used the natursoft for a little over 4 years, and I can say it worked as advertised.  When remodeling a while back we decided to get a tankless water heater.  All the documentation indicated that hard water with the tankless heater is a no go.  We had to do somehting, but since I'm lazy (didn't want to deal with the salt or plumbing in a drain) and my wife didn't like soft water, the salt-free model looked attractive.  I too was somewhat skeptical, but the reviews I found looked good, and I know enough about the science of nucleation (I was a material science major in college) to know that what they said made sense, so I bought one.

One thing needs to be made clear - the natursoft system is NOT a water softener!  It contains a media which nucleates some disolved metalic salts out of solution.  These crystals, once formed, remain in the water, and still react with oils, detergents, etc. in the same manner as the disolved salts.  They also continue to form scale wherever water is allowed to evaporate, such as faucet nozels and shower heads. In fact, it's possible that evaporative scaling was even worse than before we installed the system.

Importantly, however, once in crystaline form, these salts do not stick to pipes, or in my case, heat-exchangers.  My tankless heater has a sensor to indicate when it needs to be descaled, and the manual indicates that for my water hardness and hot water use I should have had to descale approximately every 6 months.  In four years with the natursoft the descaleing indicator has never gone off.  For further evidence, when I installed my new softener a few weeks ago, I had to cut sections from the copper pipe on both the inlet and outlet side of the natursoft.  Both sections of pipe were installed at the same time as the natursoft, but while the pipe on the inlet side was green and rough on the inside, the outlet pipe looked and felt like new.

As such, if you want or need a salt-free system for some reason (low-sodium diet for blood pressure, don't like the feel of soft water, can't easily plumb a drain into the softener location, or can't carry heavy bags of salt to the softener), then I can unequivocably recommend the natursoft.  If, like my wife and I today, you want soft water, that feels soft on your skin, creates less soap scum, rinses cleaner in the dishwasher, etc., then the natursoft probably isn't for you.

Water Softener Installation And Repair reviews in Clayton

We initially were having problems with our water softener so we went to Angie's List and called
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
to check on a possible problem with our water softener. They came out and were able to provide service by testing our whole-house water which passed with flying colors. Since our water softner was a

product, the tech suggested calling
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
to look at the system.
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
provided a FREE water testing and did not charge us for the service fee. Definitely a recommended company to use.

Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
was very helpful in explaining which water softener would work best for us, as well as a filtration system for the kitchen. He spent as long as needed to answer all our questions and make sure we were satisfied with the plan. Installation went well and we are very happy that we chose
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
again. We have had their service at our old home and they have been great. Highly recommend them.
- Bonny L.

He tried hard to come up with a suitable system, but in the end suggested that I needed to wait until the house was built to put together a proper treatment system to remove Iron from the water. Owner was helpful and responsive.
- James P.

He spent alot of time analyzing and finally recommending a new softener system.. Ours was over 25 years old and just not working anymore. He gave us the pros and cons of alot of different systems and helped us pick the right one for us. We would highly recommend them for services!

At first
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
thought that due to where the water system was leaking that it may have been the main pump, which even still being under warranty would have cost about $400 +/- for shipping and installation, on top of the service charge. He carefully inspected the unit and asked questions about previous servicing we had on it. After getting more information, he checked the piece that had been replaced about 3 years prior, by a different service provider, and found that it was not screwed on properly.
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
tightened the part and charged me only for the service charge, even though he spent a considerable amount of time with me. He very easily could have taken advantage, as I was more than willing to pay whatever it took to repair the system (we LOVE our
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
Water System), but instead he did his job with morals and integrity. I would also like to mention that
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
's service charge was considerably lower than all the others I called and he was even farther away than most of them. I would recommend
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
to everyone! I will never call another service provider ever again. Thank you

for your help!

He is extremely knowledgeable on the different types of water softeners and what they do. We called him on Monday and he came out that day. He will be installing the softener on Thursday, which is great service.
- Arlene W.

They did great!! The information meeting was just that, information. No high pressure sales. Knowledgable compared with other companies I had spoken with. They worked with my schedule which was not convenient.
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
installed the system and had to do extra work to make it work. The extra work included digging a ditch to install the units so they would not show above our landscaping. The ground was very hard and it required extra time. No complaints.
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
was willing to do the extra work. It would have been easy for

to do a

job. The soft water is wonderful and the reverse osmosis system provides excellent tasting drinking water. No more bottled water for us!

Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
and that someone would get back to me. On August 18, almost a month later,
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
Green from
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
sent me and email, as well as a letter indicating that they were not taking responsibility for the damages. According to her, it wasn't necessary to touch the shut off valve to replace the filters. She indicated that the value wore out due to general fatigue. I replied to her on the 19th informing her that while it may not have been necessary to touch the shut off valve to replace the filter, that the technician had touched it to mount it to the cabinet.
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
wasn't aware that the valve had been relocated and indicated that she was going to meet with the technician on the 21st and would get back with me. On August 29,
Clayton Water Softener Companies Provider Name Locked
informed me that they were upholding their original decision. According to her, they did not cause the damages. Luckily, the wood flooring that we have has a memory feature. After thoroughly drying the floor with fans, and weighting it down, the wood floor damage is barely visible. Unfortunately, the floor of the cabinet is non-recoverable. As is normal with cabinets, it is made with MDF board. Once it was subjected to the dripping water for 3 days, the wood expanded and the laminate finish peeled off. I would not recommend this provider to anyone. They do not stand behind their work. They do not repair damages they cause. And their timeliness and communication associated with resolving problems is unprofessional.
