"I used the services of Dr.
for orthopedics, knee and legs. Overall it went very well. He took a personal interest in the problems that I" was having with the support group. I have had braces for my feet and he said, how is that going so far, I never have got them, so he referred me to them. He said would you mind waiting here for a second, he went straight to the phone and called them. They said they still didn't have the braces as of that morning and all of a sudden, after his call, he took a personal interest and they said have him stop by on the way as soon as he leaves your office and I got them that day. That had been going on for over a month and it was supposed to be a 10 day turn around. I can't say enough good things about him. He listens closely to what you have to say. Even though he would not deal directly with his office, he calls and finds out what had they done. He has been interested in my case ever since. Even after I was released and gone back to work he said that I want to see how these things are working out and he has gone above and beyond. His staff friendliness is definitely an 'A'. His communication is definitely an 'A'. I definitely have had no problems with the billing and administration.

"They're the only one's up here, a whole group of orthopedics, surgeons and staff. They take care of an enormous area up here. There is no other doctors." I've gone to about several hundred miles of no other orthopedics. That makes them the best in town with the best service and everything. They're amazingly punctual. They're really are compared to other doctors.

Sounds like you should be pursuing a disability claim.  Also, you could speak to your previous doctor frankly about your concerns.
Have they made orthotics for your shoes that distribute your weight better?

Hi,

This is James W. with Member Care. Thanks for posting your question.

It looks like when you signed up online on 8/5/2014, that you accidentally joined our greater Portland chapter instead of our Salem/Corvallis chapter that your zip code falls under. I have transferred your subscription to that chapter, so you will now have access to the correct area.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if I can assist further. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at 1-866-783-2980. We're open weekdays from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm ET.

Thanks again!

EVERYTHING about this man and his office are unprofessional and subpar. The staff assumed another patient was me and messed up our records. After an almost two hour wait in the waiting room, I was to one to figure out the issue, only to have the nurse argue that it wasn't her fault because the other lady answered to my name. Once I finally met the dr, he tried three computers without being able to pull up a basic CD of xray and MRI images. Giving up on that, he began to discuss arthritis and other issues that were clearly already ruled out by the radiologists. Again, I had to be the one to correct the discussion. I was then berated on my health choices (running, specifically), and "why would you want to do that?" was his only input.
Eventually, he had to have his front desk staff open the images on a computer at the front desk---so professional. He spent a long time giving the scientific name of the body parts in question, without really giving any useful feedback.
I've NEVER had such an inept doctor or doctor's office experience. It was absurd. I left with no further help than I started with. He was incapable of guiding me towards a next level suggestion--PT? Sports Dr? His only answer was to stop excercising, especially at my size. (!!).
I waited a month for the appointment, and it was the biggest waste of time an effort I every spent. I arrived at 3:15 for my 3:45 appointment, was finally taken back at 5:15 and left at 6:15.
Shameful.

The doctor was aloof, did not care what my husband was telling him and after a very light massage scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks later. We canceled it and went to the ER - as it turned out this was the right decisions, as he was scheduled for a spinal surgery the next morning.

Unfortunately, I received a 2nd injury in December of 2012 while I was shopping at the Castleton mall. That day, we had a blizzard winter storm. They ridiculously put a light weight poster sign in a small plastic holder. Later, I found out that when a customer opens the door, the sign would fall over lying flat like a camouflage piece of rug on the floor. When I went into the store, the path was clear. Twenty minutes later when I came out, the sign was lying down and I tripped over the small plastic holder. Later, I realized that I had tripped over the small plastic holder lying on the floor with the sign. When I was tripping over the small plastic holder, I landed on top of the poster and slid off like a skateboard. This made me airborne and lunged me forward like a long jumper. This caused me to hit my right knee bone at least 3 or more times on the stone floor with all of my body weight. I was injured very badly. In February, I started physical therapy. The therapist left the ice pack on for 10-15 minutes. The inflammation was so bad that when she took the ice pack off, she was in shock that my knee was still very hot. When I was injured the second time, I went to see Dr. Patal because he is a knee and ankle specialist. With this second injury, he took care of me again the same way he did the first time. He had me get 3 MRIs and was very persistent in looking after my injury. I have been under his care of 2 years for the second injury. He periodically sends me to get MRIs. Again, he found out that I had a post traumatic injury. He is very persistent and keeps an eye on my long term care. I do not have insurance, so there is a 3rd party that is liable. This meant a lot to me that my doctor is protecting my interest and also really cares about the patients. I am very fortunate to have Dr. Patal as my doctor. My mother had a full accident and the doctor only treated her for a few months, even though she is an elderly woman with severe Osteoporosis (weak bones). The doctor still did not follow up for long term care. Dr. Patal is sometimes hard to get an appointment with because he is a popular doctor. While I wait for my appointment, I can hear him greeting his other patients in a very welcoming matter. I can sense that he really gives personal care to all his patients. I am very lucky that thanks to Dr. Patal and his conservative approach, he monitors the injury for a long, long time. I admire his honesty, compassion and the fact he is trustworthy. Some people have biased about foreign doctors. Dr. Patal is born and raised in the Unites States. He completed his 14 years of medical

I agree with that philosophy. He also gave me a referral for therapy if needed. I was very happy with his treatment and general approach to healing. The Sciatica responded well to his treatment and gradually went away completely.

Waited for 20 minutes before being brought in by her assistant. Waiting room was dark and unattractive and looked nothing at all like what a doctor's waiting room should look like. Receptionist was not a warm or welcoming or caring person. Only wanted to see my insurance card and coldly told me to "take a seat". Dr.'s assistant saw me first and after 5 minutes of checking the range of motion in my arm, told me to wait for Dr

. After another 10 minutes of waiting, a very unsmiling and uninvolved Dr
Cary Orthopedic Surgeons Provider Name Locked
came in. She asked very few questions, did not explain anything to me and even when I asked her questions, she gave me very limited answers. She could not define the problem and after spending exactly 10 minutes with her (at best), gave me a list of physical therapist to see. She made a follow-up appointment with me for 2 months later. After still experiencing pain, I went back to see her and this time she spent 5 minutes with me and again did not examine me but just told me to continue with physical therapy and if the pain did not go away she would give me a cortisone shot. To this very day I still have no definitive diagnosis as to what my problem is with my shoulder and am forced to make arrangements to see another Orthopedist, hopefully one who actually takes the time to help me.

Treatment: As I had already tried anti-inflammatory meds and muscle relaxers, Dr
Cary Orthopedic Surgeons Provider Name Locked
recommended a cortisone / Novocaine injection. It took a couple days but it worked and I haven't had any difficulties since that time.
Billing: My only critcism is how they billed the service, which they are well within their rights to do. However I'm having to pay out of pocket an unexpected amount (beyond the copay) because they billed the injection as "outpatient surgery". Had I been numbed up and cut in anyway, I'd agree with the treatment code. However I'm having trouble seeing how getting a shot qualifies as surgery in any way.
Regardless, I would absolutely return to him should I need treatment.

My wife was referred to Dr
Cary Orthopedic Surgeons Provider Name Locked
after having spent 15 months struggling with an arthritic shoulder. She was in constant pain and was unable to use her right arm. None of the more conservative treatments for her condition had proved effective. After evaluating her situation, Dr
Cary Orthopedic Surgeons Provider Name Locked
recommended a total shoulder replacement. His evaluation was thorough, professional and compassionate. Even though the prospect of a joint replacement was daunting, we had complete faith that she was in very competent, capable hands. He performed the surgery on her right shoulder in November 2014.

We have nothing but praise for Dr
Cary Orthopedic Surgeons Provider Name Locked
. My wife's entire course of treatment from the surgery through the follow up appointments, has simply been the best. Thanks to his superb surgical skills and post-operation supervision, She is well on the way to recovering full motion and strength in her shoulder. She has no joint pain whatsoever. She considers her new shoulder a work of art and it has given her a new lease on life.

It’s a very difficult kind of deal, but he did an excellent job. His office staff was all very good. They told me everything I needed to know and they prepared me properly for the operation. He was there after the operation and talked to me about it and I when I went in to see him, he explained everything again to me.
