the CEO had contacted me upon purchasing the $299 resume writing service with a stock-email requesting information" regarding my background, 3 jobs that are relevant, my contact information and a copy of my resume. Included in my email was all my contact information, which I just checked for accuracy. I also asked if he had any background in Military transitions to which he replied: "Yes, we have a tremendous amount of experience in working with individuals with military backgrounds. We have actually worked specifically with the
and Navy for several years, conducting resume writing and interview skills seminars for transitioning service members, and we write a lot of resumes as a result of those relationships. -
". The process to supply the requested information on his "linkedin" questionnaire was very time consuming (approximately took an hour) and I wanted to make sure this person I had never met understood what I currently do and what jobs I am seeking. I sent it to his email, and after receiving his requested information he replied promptly (which reassured my decision in this purchase) with: "Thanks for your follow up. I would like to schedule your consultation for 4:30pm (EST) on Wednesday (1/21/15), and we will call you at the designated time. Please forward the entire posting from the 3 job postings that we will be using as targets. We need the entire posting as the postings also include the position requirements which provides critical insights that can be incorporated into the resume. Thanks, -
". At the appointed time and date, I got off of an important call to make sure I was available at the prescribed time and waited. 30 minutes past. I considered calling. I took the opportunity to review our email conversation and sure enough it said he would be contacting me. At the 45 minute
I called and he answered. When I called him 45 minutes later he was not prepared and requested 5 more minutes to call back after he got my files and paperwork put together and quickly got off the phone. At this point I was pretty uncomfortable working with someone who is writing something that represents me when he represented tardiness, poor customer service and a lack of preparation. I spent over an hour preparing for his requested information, and I expected for $300 he would have spent more than 5 minutes reviewing it. I called back 3 times and every time it went to voice mail at the 5, 8, and 15 minute
. He called back 15 minutes after that (1 hour total)! I was on the phone with Angies List at the time to get a refund and immediately switched over (and it probably rang for all of 3 rings) he didn't try to leave a voice mail or text. I called back, this time he answered at which point I explained I am paying a premium price for a premium service and expected nothing less than premium customer service and that the arrangement was not going to work. He apologized and said this wasn't "normally the way HirePower does business and hoped we could work something out." I let him know I lost confidence in them considering this was the initial contact. I would never re-hire the company and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

"1) She didn't know her sources nor did she know the
a. Didn't know a single engineering firm in the
" area (a place where she lives and has lived for decades working as a career consultant b. She claimed that many of her clients were engineers but she had to pull out a 3 year old magazine of a listing of local engineering firms to even get a single clue about what companies existed. This list was not comprehensive by the way and not helpful. 2) She would patronize and talk down to me a. I have email evidence of her patronism b. She would constantly smirk and laugh when I brought serious concerns to her attention. 3) She charged me an exorbitant amount of money for her career consulting services a. Unemployed people paying $3600 is not right or fair. b. You can get ALL of the information that you would get from a career consultant online for ABSOLUTELY FREE -OR- in a nifty guide from Amazon for a much cheaper amount (I feel terrible for not doing this.) c. You can take a course at a local university in career planning or management i. Perfect for networking with others ii. Costs a lot less than a career consultant iii. You’ll have a reputable instructor to be in constant talks with during the semester and possibly long afterwards, for free! 4) She would always forget what was agreed to and asked of her a. Shifted blame to the client for her mistakes b. Was completely disingenuous and clueless whenever ANY responsibility was in her court 5) Had negative referrals and feedback from other individuals a. One of her clients told me that he had been searching for a job for a year under her consultancy. b. I came across negative reviews of Career Concepts Inc. after the fact on various online forums. 6) She never gave actual STATISTICS and numbers of the amount of clients that she successfully placed a. Always danced around numbers by using qualifiers like, “many” and “a lot” i. Me: How many clients do you have that are my age? Her: “I have a lot of clients your age” (No percentage or number) ii. Me: What is your success rate among placing clients in positions? Her:“I have a very high success rate” (No percentage or number) 7) I paid her a large amount of money and she wasted my time with excuses a. Constantly gave excuses as to why she couldn't come through on a promise (actual situation shown below) i. Her: “Oh, I thought that you weren't interested in talking with that person! I sensed that you didn't want to speak with them.” Me: “No
, I specifically stated that I would be interested in this networking opportunity. Would you please introduce me to her as you promised?” Her: “I lost her contact information.” 8) Did she ever have a real career? a. She majored in English in college and decided to be a career consultant, never actually working in a corporate environment where she claims to have placed many people. i. Nothing wrong with majoring in English, but why
’t you get experience dealing with the dynamics of an office first before giving others advice. 9) She constantly disparaged recruiters. a. At least recruiters are doing a job that is of absolute ZERO cost to the people that contact them asking for opportunities. 10) Why would she defer to my knowledge on THIS? She should know this stuff shouldn’t she? a. She would slyly evade an issue that she had no earthly idea about by saying things like, “I’ll defer to your expertise” or “You teach me”. You know, things that weren’t technical at all like what jobs I would qualify for and what fields that I should go into when I gave her all of the specifics in the starting packet. All-in-all, I would never use this individual's services ever again. I want the public to understand my experiences and to make an informed decision before working with
. Hopefully, my comments above were not disparaging of her services in any way, I just want you to understand what you will more than likely get if you work with
. Be safe and don't make the same mistakes that I've made.

Life and career coaching

Life coaches and career coaches help clients improve their lives and meet professional goals. While therapists or psychologists often work as coaches, be aware that anyone can call themselves a coach.

Do some research. If you can’t name the company’s products or services and come up with a few questions, you display a lack of interest, says Lang. (Photo by Ray Alderete)

By doing your homework, asking questions about the employment and making a strong connection with interviewers, you can avoid these 4 job interview mistakes.

Career Coaching reviews in Calabash

I had been in my old job/career for 14 years and wanted to advance into management. My resume was that old and required a GREAT deal of updating. Not only that, it was a Government job that require use of their clunky application and resume system.
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
helped me 1) develop an updated resume; 2) develop a resume that worked in the USAJobs format; 3) expand the resume based on the job application questions to improve my chances. There is only multiple choice on the job application. So in order to set one set apart Ms
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
showed me how to modify my resume specifically to the job I was applying to ensuring all job requirements and relevant information was in my resume. And 4) waled me through the whole application and interview process as they are today.
I can honestly say, without the assistance and tenacity of
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
, my resume and application would have fallen into the bin of common applicants, and not the ones that stood out. Because of their assistance I received the new job, new path, and confidence I need to continue my path forward.

I reached out to
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
soon after my 44th birthday when I realized that despite having a large circle of friends and acquaintances, the little black sports car I had always wanted, a beautiful loft condo and what I had always thought would be my dream job, I was not happy. I felt almost plagued by the feeling that something wasn’t right – that there were things that I still wanted and couldn’t seem to get, that my job no longer challenged or fulfilled me and that if I continued on in the same

as I had been, I might never realize or fulfill my purpose.
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
and I first met, she took a holistic approach in our meetings, asking questions and giving me homework to better understand who I am, what I valued and how I got to be where I was at that time. I found the entire process helpful because I
was able to identify patterns of behavior, communication and decision-making that were no longer working effectively for me.
I learned a lot of things while working with
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
, but there are a couple of things that had the greatest impact on me both personally and professionally. First, I learned to recognize my energy levels and those of others around me. By energy levels, I mean emotional states, motivating thoughts and worldviews. In recognizing them, I could make better decisions about how to communicate, relate to others and lead my life. This information has been particularly helpful at work, where I was able to better understand what was needed to more effectively interact with my colleagues and lead my team. Second, after taking
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
’s Accountability workshop and doing the homework she assigned, I learned how to make more effective requests, to better honor commitments to myself and others and to generally be more accountable. By attending the workshop, I was able to turn wishes and visions of what I wanted into specific, measurable, attractive, reasonable and timely goals and to hold myself accountable to fulfilling them.
Since working with
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
, I have made two career moves, each taking me closer to work that helps me fulfill what I believe to be my life's purpose. I truly believe that had I not reached out to
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
when I did, I would not have as clear a vision of what I want to do next both professionally and personally. Nor would I have had some of the skills necessary to take me there.

I saw
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
for 6 sessions (I believe) over about 6 weeks. He helped me to sift through all the professional and personal aspects of my decision-making process. He also made available specific "homework" to clarify my goals.
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
taught me skills to identify my strengths that I can use in the future when new opportunities come my way.

I have been so pleased with my progress while working with
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
. We had an initial consultation which really laid the groundwork for where I was headed with the next steps in my life. I had some self-realizations as we spoke and it gave me great confidence to tackle my goals. I could tell she had really put time and thought into our session and what would be important for us to cover. When things were working really well she encouraged me and kept my productivity high, and when I was unsure about how to proceed she helped me clarify what next steps were. I highly recommend

if you need some clarity about where you are in life and what you'd like to do!

I initially contacted HirePower on 9/19/14 via Angie’s List message, after purchasing "$80 Off Professionally Written Resume and Cover Letter with Guaranteed Success!" on Angie's List.

HirePower responded on 9/19/14 via Angie’s List message with an information request form for me to complete.

I submitted the completed form to HirePower on 10/03/14, and suggested we talk the week of October 6 to discuss my information.

I had a pleasant conversation with Ms.
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
Bosan of HirePower on 10/07/14 about my resume, and my understanding is that they had everything they needed to provide a first draft of my resume.

As of midday of 11/19/14, I have not received that first draft – despite asking HirePower for the status on 10/24 and 11/10. I did receive a response from
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
of HirePower on 11/13/14, saying everything would be completed by that afternoon, but I received nothing.

Clear and clean –that’s what I was looking for in a coach. It’s funny that I realized this after initially meeting
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
. For me and my process with her, these are her most important credentials. Her clarity speaks to her own self-journey, her strong foundation in psychotherapeutic knowledge, and her clear-eyed and practiced savvy. She is clean -- that is, she presents an atmosphere that is not judgmental or critical of the client, rather one that is accepting, calm, and kind in her approach to understanding the context of who you are and where you are in your life.
I appreciate that
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
is grounded in orthodoxy, but that she is open and organic in her approach. She was creative in crafting ways to help me uncover issues to work on and offer paths to mobilize the best in me both professionally and personally. She is sensitive to the zigs and zags of this process and offers encouragement and humor along the way. She believes in partnering with you to transform and fulfill your power of self at the level that you are ready to undertake in the process. She has uncanny insights, encourages you to reach, and is honest in her assessments.
Beyond her smarts and empathy, I appreciated that
Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
brought light to the coaching process. Not just from a spiritual sense, but also as in “lightness” –reminding me to have sense of play, of fun with the work.

Calabash Career Coaches Provider Name Locked
did a great job of helping me to pull out details from my past career to be included on my resume. She really helped me to see that I did a lot of things other than "just doing my job." She was good at pulling out the details of course names that I attended in the past or the names of security clearances that I had. She was very enthusiastic and very good to work with. On the downside, I'm not sure how much she keeps up to date with current expectations for resumes. I also think she tends to want to run through her course, rather than looking at what help you need and trying to coach you through that.
All in all, she did a good job with what she did, but I'm not sure I would go to her again.
