"A pleasure to work with. Our lower level has drywalled ceilings with no access to most ductwork. Not all contractors will do this type of work. We found/used" DWE through Angies List several years back. This is now our second cleaning, needed after recent drywall repairs. Happy to report that again, they provided excellent service! This is a family owned business; very efficient, helpful, and courteous. We also have a long dryer vent, which I will be scheduling for a yearly cleaning as well. Good piece of mind and visibly less dust!

"
came over to our house on the time and date that was agreed ahead of time. he was able to show us the problem in the ducts and to give us" a fair estimate for the cleaning and replacing of some ducts. the work went smoothly with no problem.
was very nice to us and he knew what he is doing. We will use him again in the future.

Air Duct Cleaning & Air Quality

The air you breathe indoors can become more polluted than outdoor air because it's trapped inside, allowing contaminants to accumulate. Many HVAC companies offer air duct cleaning services, but there's no scientific proof that air duct cleaning improves air quality.

Ask potential air duct cleaning companies to provide you with a written checklist of exactly what they will do, and if you hire them, ask them to verify each task as they complete it. (Photo by Jennica Abrams)

Is Air Duct Cleaning Worth it?

Although there's no scientific evidence proving that air duct cleaning improves air quality, experts agree that there is value in the service.

Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

There are varying opinions on the type of cleaning to have done on your air ducts.  My opinion is that it varies based on the type of duct work you have.  If you have solid material (typically metal) ducting you can have use a company that uses a brush to scrape the system clean.  If you have flexible plastic or foil ducts the solvent cleaners are generally a safer bet since the brushes often tear holes in the soft material and/or pull joints loose.  It really depends on what type on ducting you have.  You're ducts will collect all kinds of dirt, skin cells and allergens over time so if you see dicoloration around your vents it is probably time to get them checked and cleaned.

Also, don't stop at the duct work.  Don't forget your annual system check up by a licensed HVAC technician.  They'll make sure your system is running at peak performance, keeping it running efficiently and with as little impact as possible on your electric bill.  You can often save the cost of the annual tune up in the electricity cost saved.  If you have a natural gas system a bi-annual check and cleaning of the HVAC unit may be advisable to save electricity and gas.

if you have exhausted all of your choices I would call and put a complain in with the BBB then go to the DA and put a complain with them.  Then get a good lawyer and sue them for all you can get.

the answers in this on this page are all correct but you are using a bandaide to to cure the infection have a trust hvac tech open your system to see where the dust is coming from you more than likely have an impacted coil that need to acid wash to bring it back to oringinal anything left from the fire is still inbeded in that coil. just remember after that job to keep your filters clean change once a month in the summer and every two months in the winter.

Their original tech was not able to make it so they called to let me know they would find a replacement and get someone out that day. I appreciated the phone call and another tech arrived an hour later. They performed the job and were polite and courteous. I would use them again.

I originally bought the "special" which was advertised as an entire
house duct cleaning for $169. It sounded like a good deal. There were
some restrictions on it, such as how many supply vents, return vents,
etc. I had assumed since we have a relatively small house (barely
2000sf, which includes the basement) that it wouldn't be an issue. I
honestly should have read it better, because it only allows for one
return vent. I don't know how any house could only have one return
vent, but maybe some do. Long story short, you are charged an
additional 20 dollars for every return vent. This meant for us, since
we had 6 return vents, the final cost was 60% higher than the
"special". I would have rated the overall service and experience much
higher if the cost was more transparent. I guess I felt tricked. Oh
well, next time I will stay away from "specials" and get estimates ahead
of time.

The technician was very careful not to make a mess. He did not try to get me to do extra repairs or run up the cost of the service with un-necessary extra costs. The job was done quickly and at the previously estimated cost.

I scheduled service for a Sat based on the great reviews. I, like many, have a tight schedule and changed around my weekend for this service. I was asked by Ed if there was parking. I said they could use my garage IF it was a normal sized vehicle. He assured me it was. So, the day of the service, the tech called me and said he drove by but the garage looked too small and he had a huge truck. I explained that I was told it would not be a big vehicle and he said yes, some techs it's not but his is. OK, so I asked if Ed would find a solution and let him know I set aside this time and could have scheduled another company. He said yes. Ed never called. I left messages and emails. Today 4 days later, I get this email:
I did call you that day but the line did not connect or go through. We did our best to do this job, but there was no way to get down into your complex garage, due to the low hanging pipes. The clearance is extremely low. The truck is a normal sized truck. He could not find anything close to your home on the street except a half block away. This is too far for our equipment to perform the service. The street parking was very restricted, as it is on many LA city streets. I am sorry for any inconvenience but there was nothing we could do to perform the work.
Completely untrue. My phone didn't work? AND, there are NO restrictions on my street and I had a window and screen person come later that day, parked right in front of my building with a huge truck.......
I was excited to use this company based on the reviews but they have exemplified unprofessionalism and have not been truthful.

I originally called because I had a tear in my dryer vent. It wasn't an emergency, but I wanted to get it taken care of as soon as possible. I called and they fit me in the same day for an appointment. The dryer vent was replaced efficiently. We had also been concerned about the strange venting ever since we purchased the house, and they figured out the problem immediately. They discovered that the dryer vent was vented out of the same exhaust vent as the powder room vent and that there was a clog.

separated them so the dryer and powder room each have there own exhaust vent and cleaned out what I would assume was years of lint build up! I appreciated their thorough work and professionalism. In addition, they cleaned up everything before they left.
I plan to have my HVAC vents cleaned out within the next 6-12 months, and I will definitely use

Overall, it went well. The company was responsive and helpful and adapted to the weather as I was scheduled for a day when there was a snow storm. The gentleman that came was nice and explained what he was doing and how. He was also kind enough to make sure that the dryer vent (which is about 10 ft off the ground) was working properly and wasn't broken as I couldn't tell. More covering for the floor would have been helfpul as I have some carpet, but overall I was impressed with the level of service and cleaning.

and his brother were a delight to work with. Through the whole process he took pictures of the ducts both before and after. After the cleaning he sprayed the ducts with an antibacterial agent plus a coating that ensures that whatever debris is left in the ducts will not escape back into the house. Our heating a plumbing guy happened to stop by during this procedure (our hot water heater needed to be replaced--had nothing to do with the duct cleaning.) He was very impressed with
