"Called for a dishwasher repair on a unit that is 15 years old ! He was amazing , gave me many options and was honest about the cost of the repair and kit compared" to the age of my unit and how other things could go wrong. Appreciated him being honest and not just trying to get the job . in essence he spent his time talking to me and didn't make a dime, as I am off to purchase a new dishwasher .

"Initially was great in coming out the same day to look at my freezer which was coated with ice and not defrosting. On the initial visit" the technician, , was focusing on the cost of the replacement parts (instead of defrosting the freezer) so I offered to get the hair dryer and defrost it to try and speed things up so he could diagnose it. The freezer wasn't even fully defrosted before he left saying that the parts would be in in a couple of days and he would fix it then but I had to pay for the service visit fee now ($120) + the cost of all the replacement parts ($79.41) upfront a total of $199.41. I continued to defrost the freezer and found out that the drain was clogged so the water couldn't escape out the hole which was part of the reason why it was building up and icing over in addition to the defroster being problematic. I called to let him know about this but there was no reply. He also didn't come back when he said he would and after calling I found out that the parts did not arrive. It took an additional week til he returned which was a bummer because all of the food in the fridge went bad. I told him again about the drain being clogged and he said it was probably just ice which didn't make any sense to me that ice would stay frozen in the drain for a week. We tried hot water and putting the hair dryer on the drain and nothing worked. He did replace the defroster sensor on the fridge which was a HUGE help (thank you) but without the drain in the freezer working now all the water goes into the fridge area below (I have a fridge with the freezer on top) and then leaks out onto the floor. He said we should pay for the work then (an additional $162) and he would be back the next day (this was on Oct 27th) with a snake to unclog the drain so that the defrosted water could properly drain out into the defrost at the bottom of the fridge in the back. He left the freezer with exposed wires and a panel off saying he would be back tomorrow and we could just leave the fridge off until then. My folks were in town (my mom is a witness to all of this if needed) and we were having a big dinner the following day and all the food ($100 worth) was already purchased and there was NO WAY I was going to let food go to waste again by having the fridge unplugged. So I plugged it back in thinking that I would rather just clean up the water that leaks over then have to go buy coolers to put all the food into. Long story short, that was over 2 weeks ago and never returned. I have called multiple times to check in and the manager is very nice each time saying that is still "waiting on the part" and then he will be right out to fix everything. Today, my boyfriend called the office and called back aggressively to him asking "why are you harassing us?" insisting that he fixed our freezer and that the job is done. He also said that they "don't make a snake small enough to fix the drain" and so there was nothing he could do. He then hung up on him. So we've spent $361.41 total and are left with a fridge that leaks water. We would like a full refund of the labor costs and my boyfriend is going to try to unclog the freezer drain on his own. Honestly it's been quite a headache and really stressful so I am writing this review to hopefully make people aware of potential outcomes. I will gladly upgrade my review if the problem is resolved via refund. After reading other reviews it sounds like I am not alone with this sort of experience working with . If you do chose to work with them make sure everything is put down IN WRITING and signed by so that you can have proof of his word and what's expected.

Small Appliances and Kitchen Gadgets

Small appliances play a big role in our daily lives. When shopping for microwave ovens, vacuums, toasters, mixers and more, choose appliances that fit your need and budget. When it comes to repairs, compare the cost of fixing to the cost of replacing the item.

Few kitchen appliances get as much use as the garbage disposal. And over the years, common issues such as jamming and leaking can occur. However, a disposal not operating properly or maintained can break down and cause plumbing issues - leading to costly repairs.

Electrical dangers come from more than just DIY electrical work.

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

As stated above, it can vary between companies.

Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.

With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.

Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

So consider Angie's List and find the best of the best in HVAC contractors!

Since you asked this question over a year ago, I'm pretty sure you've already made your decision but I'd like to offer you some advice.  You mentioned your husband vacuumed the coils and it worked for a couple more weeks.  Chances are the condenser coils were very dirty when he did this.  When refrigerator condenser coils are dirty, the compressor overheats and heat will cause a compressor to fail prematurely.  You should vacuum or blow out your condenser coils regularly.  Today's refrigerator compressors are not made to last like they were in the past.  I remember when it wasn't unusual for a compressor to last 30 years.  You won't see that happen with the way refrigerator compressors are made today.  Regular cleaning of your condenser coils is crucial in preventing premature failure of your compressor.  For more tips, check out my article here on Angie's list titled "How To Avoid Appliance Repairs"

Small Appliance Repair reviews in Springfield

They came out and assessed the problem and had to order parts. I have an AHS warranty so I understand they have to get parts through them. However, this was a down refrigerator with lots of meat in the freezer and perishable items in the refrigerator side. I think this should have qualified for emergency care. Kind of like having your ac break in ...More August in . After 10 days of no parts arriving and living out of coolers and totally loosing the meat(150.00) I decided to hire another company to do the fix and it was done in 2 days. Although I am continuing my AHS warranty I will never let this firm in my house again. AHS on the other hand, stepped up and not only paid for the repairs but also reimbursed me for the 75.00 service fee that I paid . No one paid for the lost food. Avoid them like the plague. They have been to my house before, and they are part of the AHS program and have always complained about how it was my fault that the icemaker wasn't working or that there was something like a flip top on a beer can that caused the impeller to get clogged in the dishwasher. I don't drink beer.

so I understand thatcbecause they are

was extremely professional from the beginning. I received three quotes including , and was thousands less than a large name HVAC company here in , and another small Mom & Pop (I had three systems installed).
Both other companies were a bit "intimidated" ...More by the unique situation of my house and guest house, and the structure of my attic(s).
really knows his stuff. He immediately had very good suggestions on how to split my guest house onto it's own system, as well as upgrade the other two systems in my house so I had more even air flow--my Master Bedroom was always hot and stuffy.
and were friendly and patient with me as I asked lots of questions and did research on what systems I wanted, as well as thermostats.
and his team took their time, and constantly kept me in the loop--showing me the attic and how they systems were getting installed, as well as the new duct work. He actually suspended my systems from the top of the attic so I don't hear any vibrations when they are running. They are the quietest systems I have ever had in a house.
His crew was very clean, super friendly, very nice to my constantly barking dogs, and extremely hard working. These guys take pride in what they do.
I had another company install a system at my old house years ago. Although I was very happy with their work, went above and beyond in his attention to detail and making sure I was happy with the end result.
Best HVAC company in the valley for sure.

I called in the morning to see if he could replace my insinkerator/garbage disposal. He scheduled me the same day, and 3
hours later I have a new garbage disposal.
Easy as that! Thank you - extremely prompt, very professional, and the quoted price was the actual price.
A great experience.

Received very prompt scheduling of a technician to inspect and repair my dishwasher. Repair done quickly and efficiently - he tested the unit and was done in less than an hour. Very courteous and obviously highly skilled. Would call them again for any appliance issue I have.

After not hearing back from him for 2 weeks I called and he said the part had just come in and he was opening the box as we spoke. He would be over later that day to fix. He showed up and totally forgot what was wrong with the dishwasher, asked me why I called him as he seemed a little confused..., I explained and then he took the door off the dishwasher ...More and took it apart, when he opened the part box he cursed and said it was for a refrigerator. I thought he had checked the part out before he came over but obviously he did not. So I asked him how much longer will it be since I've been without a dishwasher for two weeks - his exact words "SO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW DISHWASHER". Then he proceeded to put the door back on the dishwasher but he put it on crooked. I asked him to put the door on properly and he told me "why, it's not like the dishwasher works". He said he had to call for the part and he'd get back to me. So now I'm looking at a dishwasher that doesn't work and a door that's sitting cockeyed. Also found little screws all over my kitchen floor that belonged to my dishwashers door. I do not want this man back in my house and if you were considering using him - RUN!
- Marilyn W.

Cliff was polite and pleasant and diagnosed the problem with ease. He needed to order a part and would come back in a few weeks to have it fixed. and Repair only comes to on Wednesdays. It has now been over a month and the burner has not been fixed. I've called numerous ...More times during their business hours and have gotten their voicemail 9 out of 10 times. I spoke with a person twice (on seperate weeks) and both times was assured that someone would call me to schedule an appointment for someone to come to the house. The part was ordered and is available. Neither time did anyone follow up with me to schedule the appointment. The other times I called and got their voicemail I was always dishearted to listen to their message. "We will call you back, your call is very important to us, we will contact you to schedule your repair, we will follow up with you, we look forward to speaking with you" is their message. Honestly, this could not be further from the truth. I was never called back...ever. They also recommended in their voicemail message that you can send an email to schedule a repair. I shouldn't have been surprised that I never heard back from them via that method of communication either. Needless to say I was terribly disappointed with the lack of communication and was completely let down by . I have had to contact Thermodor to get another recommendation for someone to come fix the burner on my . If you do choose to use this company, don't ever expect a callback or a follow up email, and don't expect a speedy fix to your applicance problems.
- Ali M.

has become a very reliable and helpful all around handy man for my house. He responds to immediately and seems to make it a priority to resolve whatever the problem is quickly and affordably. I have always been very satisfied with and hope to continue working with him in the future.
- Davida N.

replaced garbage disposal
he was amazingly prompt and inexpensive compared to estimate i had gotten from a big company
his work was immaculate. I am just a little bit disapointed in the product that he installed.
the water kind of backs up in my sink instead of draining immediatly down like it did with my old one
we did change ...More the type of disposal from a manual activator to a switch. not sure if that is reason.
just don't feel it is as strong or hardy as my old one. but that might not be fault at all.
so far it has not broken
