"These trees were close to the house and some leaning toward it. Acorn came in with a quote lower than other companies, provided great customer service, and delivered" excellent work. The crew worked efficiently and completed the project very quickly. There was little if any impact to the grass or surrounding bushes and trees. They were very careful to protect our lawn and you couldn't notice that their equipment had been there. Acorn definitely lived up to the promise. We will refer Acorn to our friends and neighbors and call on them them for any additional work we may have.

"It went perfect, he priced the job, had his insurance sent to me immediately and started on the scheduled day at the 8AM starting time using very skilled employees.

4 Situations Where You Need a Professional Tree Trimmer

Not sure if you should trim your own trees? Sometimes your tree problem is best left to a pro whose is trained in maintenance and other complex issues.

Tree Services - Removal and Trimming

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

Unless the contract stated they were to remove the neighbor's portion at the neighbor's expense it's your bill.  You simply stated they were to remove the portion on the neighbor's side also, not who would pay for it by what I'm reading, even if that was your intention.

Another route to take:  Technically you should be able to file a claim with your neighbor's insurance for the damage done by the tree and possibly for the removal of the tree including the portion not affecting you.  They may deny the second part but if they pay for damages in addition to the coverage by your insurance you've been reimbursed.  Don't take more than the $650 and keep all records so you aren't accused of insurance fraud.  Unless the bill was broken into 2 parts stating which amount was for the removal on your side and which side was theirs their insurance probably won't argue much about only paying part of the bill.  Talk to your agent about how to best approach this.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Tree Service reviews in Smithville

-Showed up for the estimation appointment on time -Was knowledgeable about the various trees I have on my property -Provided written estimate -Was able to quickly email me company insurance information -The team that showed up were very friendly, cautious and left the property cleaner than it was prior to their visit -Total ...More price of project matched the quote
Prior to connecting with we had 4 other tree companies visit. 's was one of the more competitively priced companies and from the start their promptness was excellent which helped influence our decision.

good they did great job cut my tree down great service they are so nice i would refer my friends and family
- Katherine L.

responded promptly to my request for an estimate. He came to the house within days and spent time evaluating the trees on the property that needed removal. He displayed a high level of knowledge about trees and pointed out some issues we werent aware of such as disease characteristics he noticed, insect infestation, etc. In addition ...More to his obvious extensive knowledge about trees, Mr. is personable and professional. He and his impressive crew arrived on time and worked super hard to complete all work and cleanup prior to the days end. We could not have been more satisfied with the responsiveness, value, quality, and professional job provided by Mr. and his crew. We will continue to use for any/all future tree removal. Excellent company; quality work.
- Annette M.

they did a fabulous job!1 They did exactly what they said they would do and cleaned up after themselves constantly. It was a dangerous tree to remove and they had great heavy truck and equipment and did the job carefully and meticulously. I would never have anyone else and can't say enough good things about them. The boss is on site the whole ...More time working with the workers. Every neighbor around us commented on what a great job they did!!!! don't' use anyone else. Out of 3 estimates they were the least expensive. I give them 5 full stars!
- John F.

Everything went very well. In addition to the service I contracted for they blew the leaves off the roof, cleaned up both the front and back yards. Hauled off some yard debris that had nothing to do with the tree removal. They went over and above what I expected. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Had Tree Care do some tree work (thin out the canopy and remove some dead branches on very large trees) in October 2015. Very happy with Zefferino and his crew. Zefferino was very quick to respond to my request for a quote and answered all of my questions regarding the health of my trees, how best to thin out the canopy to increase ...More sunlight to my property without damaging the integrate of my large trees, and suggesting different options to keep costs within my budget. The day of the work, his crew was very efficient and made sure to clean-up all of their work - I actually had them chip the wood on-site and then leave the woodchips for me to use in my garden beds. Zefferino was not on-site during the work (he arrived with his crew, walked through the work to be done with his staff, answered all of my questions and then had to leave), but he made sure to call me that evening to make sure that the work was completed to my satisfaction. I received quotes for a few other tree companies and Tree Care's price was competitive with the others. I would highly recommend.

Setting up the appt went well. I used Angie's list to contact them. Someone communicated back right away. I then had two telephone conversations with the office ladies who reassured me that I was in their service area - no mention of $$ for travel to my home. They were responsive and very nice. they were able to set up the appt quickly. Both ...More of the times I spoke with the ladies in the office they both asked for a a list of things that I needed done and i told them (taking down one pine tree, pruning trees front and back, pruning large cypress hedge, advice on why three trees were dying, etc. ). I have a lot of trees on the property. Gentleman who came out was friendly. He was parked in the front so we started talking about what i needed in the front. He told me pretty quickly that they would need to charge me for a service call (??~100.00) b/c of where I lived and then he told me that it had taken him over an hour to get to my home. I said "okay". Then I started to talk about things and he seemed disinterested in them: my large hedge, the pine tree, the cherry tree, the four lilac trees, and the dying trees. he looked around while i was talking to him and then asked if i had anything 'bigger.' ?Bigger? Apparently cutting down something bigger would help to save me money - something about the travel/service fee... Knowing how much it costs to cut down a large tree it seemed to me it was about making it more worth their while - versus saving me money. Unfortunately, he hadn't even set foot in the back yard. and he had no idea how much money i was willing to spend to have the work done. I felt minimized, inadequate, and underestimated
I knew i wouldn't use their services so i ended the estimated.
if there are travel charges I would ask that this be disclosed up front. Also, the services provided on the Angie's listing are not limited to cutting down big trees. i found this confusing when the gentleman asked if I had anything 'bigger' to cut down and especially after telling them twice before the estimate what I needed to have done.

- Karen K.

He did cut down the trees overhanging the house. He also said that he would cut some branches off the red oak but that was not done. However, I was rather satisfied with the work and price. Possibly I would use him again in the future. It is not easy finding reliable contractors but I think this could be a good one
