Countertop Installation Reviews in O Fallon

First off I would like to say I cannot say enough good things about
Moehlenhoff he is by far the best contractor I have ever dealt with. He was very good at everything he did, when we needed changes to the plan he never complained he just did it. We were dealing with another contractor who was just tons of problems. That held up joes work he never complained about that which I know had to be a pain.
even went as far as to help us with all the issues the other contractor had, he gave us very helpful advice. But best of all his work in very nice and neat and looked very nice in our house.
also worked around our busy life which I know has to be a pain, but as always he is nice and very helpful.

Take it from me this is a contractor u want to work for.

I have had many bad contractors and was so very pleasantly surprised to find
he made up for all the bad one's. He will be doing all the work to our house in future.

We wanted to love Absolute and pass on the praises to our friends. Unfortunately it has not been a smooth process. We should have been an easy sale.Already had granite picked out and it was in stock. Showed the rep when I came in the sink and granite we wanted. We sent over measurements along with a neighbors info that they just completed. We have the same floor plan. The guy came out to do template and was scheduled for 2 wks later. They called on Friday before and I happened to ask what sink we had since no one had said a word beyond our initial conversation.Told they had it cut for the wrong sink said we will get back to you tomorrow. Was told well this is the sink that is in. :( Never heard a word so finally sent out messages on Sunday to find out if we needed to have the kitchen ready for Monday morning. Found out it was not happening. Told on Tuesday it would cost us an additional x amount of dollars since the wrong sink was cut. After going over with them the emails and original contact they discovered there was a break down in communication on their end. Apologies that we would hear the next day when they would come out. We had a week of vacation planned around the granite this week. Finally heard back today -Friday-after emailing our contact they they were coming Tuesday at 1-2. I informed the girl this was the one day I was not available but was told it was their policy to inform 24 hours prior to installation and not much could be done about it.Our last installation date we were given notice of 2 weeks before they realized we were getting the wrong sink. I was told I should have someone come to my house and wait for them on Tuesday- sadly at this time I can't trust anyone else to make sure we have the right granite and the right sink. What should have been a super easy sale has now turned into a long drawn out process. Unfortunately I would not pass on Absolutes info to my friends.

SCK & B provides kitchen design service and contracts with a cabinet builder in the region, providing semi-custom ktichen cabinets. They have their own construction crew. The rest is "

cart". You pick your own countertops from anywhere you'd like. (

was very helpful in providing a list of granite companies). They use

and the granite is all billed thru

Kitchen & Bath, making it seamless.

You choose your own appliances & are therefore, not limited to specific brands, etc. The appliance cost was separate from the kitchen bid, which I liked. (We found what we wanted & were able to get a discount from the retailer based upon the number of appliances we bought). SCK & B installed all appliances for us.

We chose and purchased our cabinet hardware elsewhere altho' it was available from SCK & B. They installed the hardware.
We chose several types of lighting - recessed, over-cabinet and under-cabinet and pendants. All but the pendants were supplied and installed by SCK & B. (The pendants we chose are still on back order. We paid for those separately from our kitchen installation contract) SCK & B wired for the new pendants & offered to come back and install.

Tile backsplash - With the help of 2 other kitchen and tile designers, we designed a fairly

travertine tile backsplash from our chosen tile. We purchased all tile, grout, seal, etc on our own (not included in fee we paid SCK & B).
We sketched the design to share with the construction crew. I also took pictures of the tile design we had done at the tile store to give them a better idea of what we had designed.
This was the problem area when working with SCK & B. I would recommend using another company to do tile installation unless, perhaps it is a very

subway tile type installation. The backsplash makes a huge statement in a kitchen & I was quite disappointed in this part of the project. First I was told the design wouldn't work. The construction "boss" tried to convince me to change the entire design, including the focal point - a "picture frame" type design behind the cooktop. I was unhappy with the result and felt that they had rushed through the tile installation. I asked them to seal the tile, especially the specialty tile, before grouting. I was told it wasn't necessary. It WAS necessary as the grout marred the finish of the specialty tile. In addition several pieces of the "picture frame" were crooked and missing and they had neglected to install the 1" decorative pieces in an entire section of the backsplash.

Ultimately, they returned and re-tiled two areas in question. (I purchased the new specialty tiles). I am now happy with the backsplash focal point behind my cook top and the new tile & with the decorative pieces installed as I had requested in my original design. What marred an otherwise happy outcome was the attitude of the construction crew "boss." He was arrogant and argumentative when we pointed out the tile problem. Understandably, he was defensive. However, I found his behavior to be off-putting and unprofessional, certainly not my view of good customer service. I didn't appreciate him raising his voice and blaming me for his error in tile installation.

was a good buffer for him and agreed to come back and re-do the tile. This, of course, caused quite a delay in the completion of the kitchen but we were able to use our kitchen.

Overall, I enjoyed working with

at SCK & B. The construction crew, overall, is technically proficient. They installed the cabinetry, new electrical wiring & lighting, and appliances, efficiently and cleaned up each day. The job was completed in the number of days

I met
O Fallon Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
when he was working on a neighbor's kitchen. My neighbor was very pleased with his work, so we called CASE and requested

. They promptly returned our phone call, and a consultation was quickly set up. From start to finish, the kitchen project took about four months. There were a few delays which were a little frustrating and the holidays which slowed things down. Once things were measured, ordered, and received, the work was completed rather quickly. Overall, we were very pleased with the final project.

did an excellent job on the bookshelf that he made and the backsplash. We felt very comfortable with him and even left him to work on the kitchen while we were out of town.

The men who came to the house were wonderful. They measured one day and came back a week later to install. Very thorough and professional. Job is beautiful. Can't imagine a better experience.

After talking with a few different places and obtaining a few different bids, we decided to go with
O Fallon Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
. The price was better than others that we had talked with, and the reviews were good, so we chose them.
It went very well. The staff were all very knowledgeable and helpful. We worked specifically with
O Fallon Countertop Installers Provider Name Locked
, and he was wonderful. He helped with everything from our initial questions, to allowing us to come pick out our granite slabs, to templating and everything in between.
The installers arrived on time, removed the old counters and sink/faucet, and then installed the new counter and sink. A plumber came separately and hooked up our kitchen plumbing again.
It was a great experience, and the new counter and sink look fabulous!! It's amazing what granite can do for your kitchen!!

Money paid, goods and services not provided. Pressured to place order and provide 2/3 payment up front, but no calls returned or returned after multiple calls after the fact. Promisses made but not kept-we're at 6 months on a 6-8 week quote. No longer a trustworthy company to do business based on our experience despite reviews from two years ago....More /> At this point, legal action seems to be our only option. Homes in our area are being built from the ground up in 3 months. 6 months to supply materials and complete work which is yet to happen is more than excessive. Taking money and not providing product is common theft and will be delt with accordingly. My only intent in writing this review after being solicited by Angies List is to prevent others from being ripped off or subjected to the same experience. There are several reputable companies to choose from, do your homework.
