Sample Cardiologists Reviews
"Dr. Bertuso is great! He has treated my husband for atrial fib for several years now. He is very professional and punctual. He shocked my husband's heart back into rhythm twice and everything went well.
also did his stents and we have been very pleased with the results."
after failed attempts from another cardiologist associated with another hospital. At
the identified the issue with my 100% blocked artery in my heart. They then were able to open the artery and placed 3 stents in to give some opening in an artery that I was told by the first cardiology team was ...more to far gone to even have a bypass."
She emphasized need to reduce caloric intake, eat Mediterranean diet, exercise vigorously 1 hour/day, 5 days a week, avoid white carbs, eat vegetables and fruits in proper quantities. These are the well-known recommendations for healthy living any doctor ...more would prescribe.
She advocates new medications and tests. For example, she prescribed Lovasa (refined fish oil) and PreDX (diabetes indicators). Both are extremely expensive and PreDX is a specialty lab which is not covered by insurance. The test cost over $600 and is no better than the A1C blood test. Lovasa is expensive fish oil at over $100/month, even if it is refined. I would recommend that people think and double check with insurance before just taking her prescribe medications and tests.
is not actually a staff of St.
's Medical Group and there appears to be ongoing tension between her and the staff. Miscommunication between her and the staff has also caught me in the middle with the communication breakdowns. My concern is that miscommunication can be deadly in the medical field. I will observe this issue for another year to see if it improves or worsens before I decide if a change in doctors is necessary.
03/26/2013: UnitedHealthcare underwriting questioned the PreDX tests. That is jeopardizing my insurance coverage and premium. Though I understand the intent was to be preventive, the insurer doesn't look kindly on tests and meds for "preventive" reasons.
04/05/2013: UnitedHealthcare denied insurance on basis of Dr.
's comments about a number of notes about her interpretations about my A1C level being diabetic (5.5 is below diabetic), my one comment about chest pain that went away in a few minutes (hypertension), my aunt and cousin having lupus, etc., etc. Her speculative notes were interpreted as definitive diagnosis so I was decline medical insurance. I reiterate that she should stick to her field and not venture by speculation into other specialties. She has caused irreparable damage to me getting any medical insurance."
"He is an excellent cardiologist and a very fine gentleman. He is a board certified doctor and has a very proficient office. His medical assistant named
has been extremely helpful to me at all times. She is always available for me and even if she is not she always gets back to me. His schedule is a lot more erratic than hers. ...more I have a very high opinion about him. I have been very happy with all the work he has done for me and have a very high regard for him."
seemed very thorough and knowledgeable. He listened carefully to my symptoms and took time to explain possible causes. In the end, he determined that there was no reason to take additional action at the time. I asked some questions about lifestyle changes to protect my heart, and he helped explain which ones I should focus on."
"I like my cardiologist. I go to his satellite office in South
. He said I would eventually need a surgery. He is very honest and thorough. He is there maybe one or two days a week in his satellite office. The office staff is friendly. He is convenient for me to go to. My insurance covers the billing and I haven’t had any ...more problems. I see him yearly. He has a main office in
"What is really outstanding about this doctor is how fast he analyzes the situation. I never feel like he is pushing me. When I first saw him in 2001, he correctly analyzed the heart condition the heart condition that
me to have a heart operation immediately. So, that was pretty impressive. He interrupted the stress test and he ...more did not want it to continue because he didn’t like what he saw. He asked me right on the spot on how soon I could get over to Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. He said that he would like me there within an hour. So, he was terrifically concerned. I had a quadruple bypass operation done there. He called me after the operation and asked me how the medicines were doing after I got home. I told him that they were making me nauseous and he told me to stop taking them. He is a very pleasant fellow, and he quickly gets to the point. I feel fully satisfied after a five-minute examination, and I feel like he has really done a terrific job. He schedules me for the next appointment after looking at the results of the test. There is nothing that disturbs me with the office. It is not large but it is a very welcoming office. He is right on the spot every time and never makes me wait. He is perfectly adequate for everything that I have needed."
is immensely thorough. I love that about him. He is very hands on and watches you closely. He is not overbearing. He is very consistent with his treatment and approach. He has a very calming and soothing manner about him as well. He is an excellent doctor. His staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would absolutely ...more use him again in the future."
