A little background...our home has three sets of double doors facing the front out of the house and three glass sliding doors leading to different areas in the backyard. We also have several exterior windows that required sensors. I knew there would be extra costs for such an installation but was not at all satisfied with the ADT's approach or bid.
We were referred to Bulldog by our home inspector so I contacted them and spoke with Tray
He is polite, professional, knowledgeable and very straightforward. We toured our home and he gave us several ideas and options for how best to equip the house with a system. In the end we decided to go with door sensors on each of the six doors along with several window break audio sensors spread throughout the house. Those sensors and the way they are spread out allowed us to save a significant amount of money and being that many of our windows don't open, we didn't even need the other window open sensor.
We also decided to go with the carbon monoxide/fire monitoring sensor as well.
In the end, the bid we received was less than half of what ADT proposed AND we got more sensors, two key chain alarm triggers as well as the carbon monoxide/fire sensor, none of which were part of ADT's proposal.
We signed a contract and I gave him my credit card information. Right there in our home he drafted the documents and created our account with ADT and then scheduled the installation. He stayed with us for the better part of two-three hours after working his full day in the office and in the field. He left at about 8 pm as I recall and wouldn't even accept a bottle of water.
The installation was scheduled for the very next Saturday and there were two guys working for a few hours installing the system from scratch as our house had never had a system before. They were well groomed, professional, pleasant and very well spoken. Again, they wouldn't even take water from us and never took so much as a quick smoke break.
They cleaned up after themselves, vacuumed the dust from the holes they made in the walls and ceiling, explained how to operate the system and left us with a ton of ADT stickers and a yard stake.
Since that time our system has not needed any service or repair other than when ADT had to recently come out to replace the wifi box due to AT&T changing their tower antennas.
I recently reached back out to Bulldog to discuss upgrading our system to the Pulse system which allows for cameras, home automation and remote activation via a phone app and I called Tray again. He gave me his mobile number which I used and we briefly discussed my thoughts as he drove his family on vacation.
He called me when he got back from vacation just as he said, had looked up our account, had all the details on pricing and timelines and told me quite honestly that because this was an upgrade install of a new system, I would probably save a great deal of money by going through ADT direct instead of Bulldog because of how their contracts work with ADT.
Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed because I'd rather not deal with the creeps who ADT sends out to do their sales calls. I will probably wait a few more months until my contract runs out with ADT and then see if Bulldog can help me as a renewing customer instead of a current customer upgrade. That might be possible.
All in all, I have been very impressed with Bulldog. I like that they are a local company that I can call any time I have questions or concerns and I truly appreciate the professional and courteous service provided by Tray in particular. It's not often that an upper management representative of a company will so freely hand out his personal mobile phone number and invite me to call then whenever I need anything.
A++ to Bulldog as far as I'm concerned. For those that have encountered issues with their sales reps or anything, I certainly encourage you to call the office and speak to one of their management team members (their names and titles are posted on their website) and discuss your issues. I'm sure the enthusiastic and professional folks at Bulldog will do whatever they need to do to resolve your issues.
Anyway, after he leaves you set up an appointment to have the system actually installed and set up. The tech arrived on time, was very nice to my wife and went through everything with her on how to work the system and access the online features. We had an issue after he left with a motion detector where it was being triggered and setting the siren off even when the system was not armed, and they were able to fix it over the phone.
They are always very nice and professional when they call after an alarm. Every now and then we forget it is armed and open a back door to let our dogs out, etc. and set it off by accident. They call immediately, ask for the information, and are very professional.
The company itself is fine, with above average friendliness and support. However the main appeal for me was the features of the system and monitoring process itself.
We think we're the best, and we can prove it.
