High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
is the 'contractor' for this company and has beautiful and high quality designs. His professionalism is super terrible.
First of all, he doesn't manage his subcontractors very well...he leaves that up to us. The drywall guys showed up and had no idea what to do or what was/was not supposed to be drywalled. We had to take time off of work to come manage them. He wasn't even there to direct them...or any of the subcontractors.
But the real root of this problem is the current issue with another subcontractor that he didn't manage. He hired Hotwire Electric to do the electric work. (I also wrote a review on them). There were to do the standard electric work associated with a basement finish. Because we had a full electric panel, the recommendation was to install a sub panel. We asked for that. It wasn't done.
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
didn't care and then tried to pretend it wasn't necessary.
When we pushed the matter, he called them back out to have them complete it. He had told us that portion of the electric work was about $350.
So, when we paid the final bill of our contract which we paid in full,
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
identified the 'extras' he was billing us for above and beyond the original contract signed.
He said we owed $500 for the electric subpanel..remember he quoted 350.
He said we owed $200 for some cutouts he did under our stairs
He said we owed $35 for some cable that he ran for us for the entertainment area
That came to a total of $735 of additional billings.
I talked to
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
about our dissatisfaction with the way we had to do his work for him on the subcontractors. I had tracked the time and we had probably spent 4-6 hours doing work that he should have done. He never specified his hourly rate, but we asked around and an estimated going rate for basement contractor is about $50 per hour.
Thus, 6 hours at $50/hour, I told
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
that we were going to reduce our final payment by $300 for having to do his job with managing the subcontractors. I said I would just round down to $400 to settle the final payment.
He said he was surprised that we weren't happy but accepted the final payment as long as it was in cash and would be paid immediately.
We paid it the very next day.
Now he won't pay the subcontractor for the Electric.
Their bill is $532. And he has lied to them and told them we were to pay them directly.
So, let's review. If
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
's assertion was correct, that means he must think I owe him $400 for $235 worth of work. I don't think that's accurate. What's happened is that he is trying to milk both sides of things and because he is tough to deal with, he has intimidated the lady in charge of billing at Hotwire electric. When she first called to ask who owed the bill, she told me she was scared to talk to him because he was so rude.
So, he has been paid for what he has earned. Now he owes his subcontractor. He won't pay them and now they are scrambling and coming after us.
He is slimy and sneaky and tries to get away with stuff.
Save yourself a large headache and don't use him.
Plus, on the phone and in person, he is rude and treats you like your stupid. No one needs that. Look elsewhere.

"UPDATE: 8/1/2013.

Their customer service gets worse. To correct the issue that they had below, they came back out and did the work at my contractor's insistence. He contracted for the work. When we were done, we paid the contractor for all the last of the work which included the last bill from this company. The contractor didn't pay them. They called me about it. I explained the situation.

Now, after obviously not getting their money from my contractor, they sent a
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
notice to us. They indicated when I spoke with them that they didn't like dealing with my contractor because he was nasty to them. So now that they can't collect, they are trying to go after us...just because they are scared. They have sent threatening letters. Their issue is with my contractor but they won't deal with him because they just don't like him. That's what I get I guess for trying to be reasonable when I explained the issue on the phone.

I hope you never make the mistake of dealing with this company. Obviously, if you post a bad review as I did, they retaliate. Buyer beware.

At first, all went fine with the arrangements made with our contractor, but when it came time to complete the work, the individual stood at the bottom of our basement steps and screamed up at us to come talk to him. My wife was on a call and didn't hear him so he became frustrated and demanded she write him a check (that was acceptable since he was also suppposed to be installing an additional subpanel per our request..not part of the original contract). He made her get off the phone to deal with him.
Our contractor had indicated in advance that we would need an additional subpanel so that was known and communicated in advance prior to the individual coming out.
I personally had a conversation with him when he arrived going over all the particulars about the subpanel, the lights, the additional wiring for a future finish in the basement. He confirmed that he heard from the contractor the same information. So, if I tell him something and he confirms he heard the same from the contractor, then the natural assumption is that we are on the same page.
Aside from the wiring for lights, none of the additional work was completed. Our contractor called the company and was told that it was a communication error. And they would be out to correct the issue.
They didn't show up the day they said they would or the next day. Our drywall guys knew a different guy at the company and called him to come out and correct the issue.
When all was said and done, the subpanel was put right next to the main panel, which is not where it was supposed to go or even the best place for it to go. It was terrible placement. And then, despite the fact that they dropped the ball on getting some prewiring for future expansion which they agreed to do first, they flat out refused to do it even before the drywall was completed.
When assessing the issue, they indicated that no one ever told them about the subpanel or additional wiring and that's why it wasn't done. Instead of simply owning up to the fact that they dropped the ball, they tried to shift the blame back to our contractor, then to us.
I can't recommend them for any work.

Update: It has been 2 days since the work was done and our master bedroom circuit keeps blowing. It happened 10 times yesterday and since there is nothing being done to the master bedroom, this is likely due to the electrical work done. Our contractor is assessing whether to have them come out and repair since the work should be covered or just biting the bullet and paying a better company to come fix their mess. Likely we'll have to eat the bill but it's hard to trust they will do the right thing.

"This was our second project with
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
High Ridge Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
. The first was an wonderful addition to our home in 2008. We highly recommend their work as they bid accurately and complete jobs as requested. They excel at problem solving, finding economic solutions for our projects in our 1980's home. The quality of their craftsmanship and their sub-contractors was outstanding and we would highly recommend their services. Add in their politeness and dependability, the stress of any home remodeling job is kept to a minimum.
