met with us in early June and was responsive to the inquiry for a visit, recommendation and quote. He was prompt and communicated with us" often as we had plenty of questions after the initial visit. After getting several more recommendations and quotes, we settled on Premier due to our interaction with
and the other reviews on Angie's list. Additionally the recommended work was in line with my research where the other 2 providers did not even come close. We were not disappointed. The team that did the earth anchors and the team that did the drainage were top notch. Not only were they all friendly and go out of their way to be accommodating, they treated our house carefully and did an amazing job keeping things clean, neat and orderly during the process. At the end of the job, you could barely tell that we had so much work done. It was left clean. The teams on site were great. The work was done in exactly the amount of time that was scheduled. Thanks again to your entire team

"Contacted Angies list for help. They opened a case but I never heard from them again. When I finally contacted them through chat all they wanted to do was give" me a discount and reschedule. Avoid MTR and avoid Angies List. What a waste of time, especially since I am just beginning a total house rehab.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

had completed repairs in my crawl for a previous owner. I
am currently selling my house and there was joist damage noted on the buyer’s
inspection. I called them to give me an estimate for repair, since they had done
work in the past on the house. I thought it was a good idea, but I was wrong.
The women answering the phones made me jump through hoops including emailing her
the prior contract from the prior owner. She also insisted I pay to transfer
the contract into my name before she would send anyone to give me an estimate. That
cost was $25, which was no problem. However, she would not take payment over
the phone and I had to mail it to her prior to any communication about setting
up an estimate. I explained on the phone and in email that the damage sighted on
the inspection for my buyer did not appear to be in areas of prior repair but
she still required all this extra legwork just to get a quote.
I attempted to clarify if I would have to go through some many steps just to get
an estimate for joist repair if her company had never done work on my house. At
that time she told me her workers were booked until September, which would have
never worked due to the repairs being needed to close on the sale of our house.
The house being on the

phone call.
I would not use this company due to it being difficult to use them in the first

They are very busy so had to wait about six weeks before work could start. This wait was not a problem for me. There were two crews used over two days. Crew one place the nine tie back piers in 1 1/2 days. Very professional job. Crew two spent four hours getting my steps level as possible. The work on the steps was a challenge as they were extremely slanted. My alternative to the leveling would have been to remove the concrete walk and steps and have it all re-poured. The leveling of the walkway was not perfect (and was not promised to be perfect) was all in all a great improvement. The crew worked hard to get it right as possible.

was contacted by phone (message left) I was promptly called back and situation was described to them. Their solution was the polyurethane injections. A time was set up for them to do the work.

was promptly on time; fully explained what he was going to do and what would have to be done by myself few days after he was done and the injections had dried. Work sight was neat with hardly anything to have to clean up.. I couldn't fully report on the success of the job until we had heavy rains the end of June and early

This company was outstanding. The lady I talked to in the office was friendly and professional and the service tech who came to do the repair was punctual and very professional. He explained to me what was going on, what he was going to do and it didn't take him long to do it. The price was very fair and included a transferrable lifetime warranty. I'm glad we chose

for the job. I would recommend them to anyone.

It went excellent. I had

install the original sump pump approximately 18 years. Since then I have told many people that they were the best contractor I ever had in my home. Again they didn't disappoint this time. : )

They fixed my water problem and went the second mile and did the best job ever of cleaning the gutters. I would recommend this company without any a second thought to all. Way to go

From the first phone call to the time they pulled away, I could tell that this company is a class act.
Grain Valley Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
knows his stuff for sure and his crew are all professionals. Could I have gone with a company that had a cheaper quote? Yes, but my instinct told me you get what you pay for and I was so right. Just look at the nightmares the competitor's reviews show. These guy spend half their time fixing other company's failed attempts to stop water from coming in. These guys are artists in what they do, even in the way they dig, remove, and pour concrete, not to mention the excellent plumbing work, and the explanation and installation of a high tech pumping system that sends alerts to my phone if there is anything going on. A+ all the way. If you want a company that knows how to stop the water from coming in, a company that does what it promises exactly when they say they are going to do it, hire this company. If you want it done right the first time, and don't have time to play around with armatures or basement waterproofing scams, just call

Cicero and team installed pump to dry out basement which was leaking continuously for a few weeks after thaw of high volume of snow from winter. Their work has really helped to keep basement dry

Waterproofing had done extensive work in my basement for the previous owner, so I opted to give them a try myself to resolve new problems that had not been previously addressed.
Grain Valley Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his men were responsive and professional. The work was done as expected and in a reasonable amount of time. The price was right for the scope of the work requested. Hand digging was required to expose the foundation outside. I opted to remove the plants in my garden bed myself before the work was done. I'm glad I did so. The men worked around the one larger hydrangea I did not move, and it was pretty roughed up during the process. (I cut back the broken branches that were covered with tar, and I think it will be OK.) We have had one good rain since the work was done, and the repaired areas in the basement show no signs of dampness. So I am hopeful. My sole criticism of the work is that clean-up could have been done better. Gravel used to fill the window well was spilled into the adjacent garden bed on top of plants. I spent about 2 hours sorting that out and sweeping the porch and basement where dirt and cement were left.
