Columbia Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Reviews

"A friend of mine recommended him. I would use them again. They

’t have great communication and it takes them a while to get back to somebody. They did good work once they got rid of the bad people who worked on my house. They redid things on my house if I didn’t like it. That’s what I liked the most – they redid things. One guy got fired because he painted my laundry room and instead of moving anything behind my washer and dryer, he painted over it. Someone else redid the job and he did a crappy job as well. The owner was so embarrassed so he redid it a third time, until I was happy. That’s why I would use them again. He didn’t throw a fit or try to be rude, he just redid the job."

came out to give me a free estimate, advised me of time frame and all cost, he also went with me to purchase the tile at home depot. Mr

arrived early, set up all his equipment and took 3 days to complete the job from start to finish, once completed all mess, tools and floor was clean. Mr

"He left with the job only 80% finished. He did not install a useable function drain and also assured us that the shower would never leak. The shower backs up to a unfinished basement area. My husband cannot use the bench seated area which has a handheld shower head an overhead rainforest shower head that has 3 body sprays on the side walls because it leaks like a sive and floods the unfinished part of the basement and under the bath tub. He was paid to install a window over the bench seat which he never did. He over inflated the price of the tub which we found out later. He was to insulate and cover with sheet rock the walls in the unfinished basement and never did that. We paid him for a second bathtub to replace one in the master bath and he never installed that. He hired a plumber to do all the plumbing and he did not pay him. "
"Their prices are about 3x what they should be. For example, they quoted $20000 for a granite countertop, which bought on my own would have been $5000 installed by primary provider. I am OK with the contractor getting a cut of the job, but not a 300% overhead. Suffice to say we did not do the work with this company. We later met Mr. K in a granite provider by

"Did flooring, kitchen flooring and hall flooring.Concrete work in the kitchen floor to level floor. Concrete work in garage bedroom as well. Had to redo concrete/ flooring several times in garage room and kitchen and hallway.,Was installed improperly. Was supposed to level out kitchen floor. was NOT leveled properly. in the hall way there are gaps in the flooring, paint job had to be redone in living room and kitchen. When they left they did not even remove the paint strips which they finally used in the last try painting and not in the previous. Had an employee paint over a sock that was on the floor in the laundry room when the washing machine was moved instead of asking me who WAS home to come move it. If I could post pics I would. Then my S.O being a trusting sort, one of the employees said he could fix a gocart that we had for the kids.. he took it and we never got it returned to this day. Tried calling, asking the owner.. nothing. NOTHING. I really liked these guys in the beginning but not satisfied with anything that was done. If there was a way to post pics here I would.
Also many items of mine were broken in the procres when person doing drywall threw items into another room, as well as using expensive culinary shears, and cpl other items of mine to do the drywall. Used my plastic buckets I had for a garden for concrete and didnt replace them even though I asked many times for them. I could go on and on and on. It's over, I learned my lesson. NEVER AGAIN
"Very prompt. Always responsive to my numerous phone calls. They did the work they said they would and were open our thoughts and changes until the work was completed.

"The project turned out great and we are very pleased with the quality of the work. I appreciated that the owner,

, came every morning around 7:00, reviewed the work done the day before, explained what would happen next, and listened to any concerns I had. Our remodel was designed with an eye towards aging in place. Unfortunately, my husband, my mother and I lived in the project.
We gutted and reconfigured the entire upstairs, including removing walls to create a master suite, removing walls to create an open kitchen/dining room/living room area, adding a walk-in closet, installing an energy-efficient whole-house fan, and removing back stairs into the downstairs utility room to create a guest bath upstairs. We ripped out carpet in the living room and dining room to expose and refinish original hardwood flooring, replaced vinyl flooring in the kitchen with ceramic tile, and replaced floor and wall tile in the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. A planter had been built into the floor of the living room and we removed it. It had formed the top of a coat closet in the foyer, which we cut off. We moved the closet door downstairs and installed it in the wall facing under-stair storage, making it much more usable space. We replaced the paneling in the foyer and part of the downstairs with drywall and repainted the entire upstairs and downstairs.
Both bathrooms had mold damage and had to be totally gutted and rebuilt, and we discovered old termite damage in the kitchen and living room area that they repaired. We replaced all appliances and cabinets in the kitchen, moved our slide-in range to a corner island next to the dining room, installed granite counter tops and converted our pantry to a dumbwaiter shaft that accommodates a dumbwaiter constructed from a vertically-installed garage door opener with a boxed-in tray attached. We retiled the foyer and replaced the double front exterior door with a high-end triple-latch door that has vented sidelights with screens.
My frail, elderly mother lives in the lower level. We gutted and rebuilt her bathroom and replaced porcelain tile with ceramic tile. They discovered that there had been a botched remodel years earlier that left the floor unlevel and problematic electrical and plumbing issues. We replaced the old tub with a step-in basin/shower arrangement, installed a handicapped-accessible sink, added grab bars next to the toilet and in the shower, and widened the door to accommodate a wheelchair, should that become necessary. We also replaced tile starting in her bathroom, going down the hall and all the way to the back door in the family room area. We added a mantle above our fireplace and they went on the roof to repair a separation in the chimney crown.
My only complaint was that the project took much longer than it was supposed to. Part of the reason is that we lived in the project and had to move our stuff around as they worked in different parts of the house.

had underestimated how much stuff we really have. This was quite stressful for my husband, who did most of the moving because I still work full-time. The termite damage and mold delayed the project a few days, as well. The rest of the reason for the delay was that a long-time worker resigned in the middle of the project to take a different type of job and

struggled to find someone reliable to replace him. I understood when he had to let someone go because he couldn't show up to work on time, and I tried to be patient.
In spite of the delay on the project (it took four months instead of one), I would not hesitate to hire

kept in communication daily, explained the problem with his employee openly, replaced a vanity that didn't look right in the space, replaced the sink and counter in our bathroom when a worker scratched it, never hesitated to redo something if it didn't meet his high standards, changed paint color for me when I didn't like the paint I chose for the guest bath, met me at stores when I was having trouble choosing fixtures or lighting, invited me to his house to see his own blinds and paint color, and generally made us feel like his primary focus. I became quite fond of his crew (he doesn't use subcontractors), who treated all of us with respect and never complained when they had to work around something we had to do. When the project ran on until Christmas, they worked with us to accommodate a "normal" Christmas and I even bought everyone in the crew a beer sampler!

is a great company, and they do what it takes to make a customer happy. Their goal is to build their business with repeat customers and word of mouth, and I expect them to be in business for a long time.

"This was a huge project and we are so glad we chose

We could trust

is dependable and does what he promises to do. He is kind and pleasant to be around - very nice since we spent so much time together during this project. He was reliable to give us a time-frame to work with - especially since we did some of the demo ourselves. We did not tear up too much ahead of time nor did we have to rush at the last minute to get our part done. We also knew what products to have on hand as he would approach the next phase of the project.

was also very helpful in providing hints on the parts of the job that we were doing. He was willing for us to share in our home remodel doing the parts we were capable of doing and allowing him to do the parts that needed a professional with professional tools.
He uses quality materials and knows how to use them properly. For anyone thinking his estimates are high, they should compare apples to apples and know that you get what you pay for. The

products he uses are well known to be superior products. If you use them, you will not be redoing the tile work later because of failure - only if you get tired of it and want something different.

stands behind his estimate and that is what you will pay for the job (unless, like us, you keep adding to it as you go).
Another bonus that mattered to our family -

does not smoke so he did not stink up our home.
"This guy shows up when he says and is genuine cares about the quality of the job done. We had heard him on the radio that he specialized in flooring but did all remodeling so I asked if he did decks and he told us he had built 4 houses completely and had done general carpentry for 14 years but had always specialized in flooring. So he built us a beautiful deck and he was able to use part of my existing deck foundation which saved us some money. Then we had him put in some ceramic tile and a new commode in our upstairs bathroom. We liked that he let me do some of the prep work and knocked off some for me doing some prep work.

is very friendly and always made us feel like we could trust him to lock up when we weren't home. Very nice man and paid close attention to detail and never cut corners got the job done and the final bill was never a surprise it was always what we agreed on a rare carpenter we will use him again!

had one skilled employee to assist with installation took an entire day including moving the floor drain a few inched to fit the drain in the new base. This involved chiseling concrete and laying pipe and floor drain very precisely to fit the drain opening in the new base. When all was ready they removed the packing from the new shower then very carefully did a mock set up of the pieces in my garage to be sure all the parts, big glass doors to intricate connectors that hold everything together. This took a lot of time and patience but in the end, saved time during the real installation. A piece at a time, in the order determined from the mock set up, the parts were taken to the bathroom, beginning with the base, which required cement fill around the new floor plumbing. Then the plastic sheets were glued to the walls and sealed around the perimeters with permanent caulk. These blended very smoothly into the walls above the panels. The door was a tricky part of the process; everything depended on it fitting precisely against two narrow glass panels. This was done with connectors and metal strips around the top of the shower and special connectors that I couldn't understand at all.
I was only an observer and had to stay out of the way in a small bathroom, so I missed the final stages of assembly and testing the shower itself and checking for leaks. They asked me to come and check the final job. There was a lot of concrete breaking plus dust from that, and construction junk that needed to be cleaned up. So I was surprised to see the job finished, the shower, including all the glass cleaned and polished, the walls of the bathroom cleaned with a wet cloth, all the dust and dirt in the adjoining bed room, the floor vacuumed--everything spotless.
