"On the first visit (9/25), I called this company in a state of desperation when the previously-scheduled locksmith (
at Columbus Locksmith," LLC) failed to show up for the job I hired him to do and subsequently seemed to show no sense of urgency when contacted.
, who I believe is either the owner or manager of Snap & Crack Locksmith, responded with a sense of urgency and explained that he could do the urgent repairs that night (which is short notice and I appreciated the rush) and would finish them on Wednesday the next week (a date of my choosing). As we had just purchased the house, he re-keyed the exterior doors to ensure that we were the only ones with keyed access to those doors, which provided a sense of security. He was professional and did a good job in a reasonably timely manor. If the service were to have concluded there, I would have been quite happy. However, on 9/30 -- when the job was to be completed -- the service fell to disaster. The technician
sent had apparently lost his cell phone the night before and, as a large portion of their business is conducted on these cell phones, he was taking the morning to buy a new one... when he was scheduled to be at my home. Without notice. When I called
to straighten out the problem, he was sincerely apologetic and even offered a small discount, but I still had to wait on the technician to arrive past my scheduled window of arrival. When he finally did arrive, he was nice enough, but seemed not to understand what I wanted to be done on the basement door. There were multiple contractors at the home at the time that I paid him and he left, so I only gave a cursory glance at the work, as
's work had been so good. As he went to leave, I saw a HUGE mess in the hallway, including all of the wood and metal he had drilled out of my garage door to install a deadbolt, plastic bags from new parts, and a generous covering of wood bits and sawdust. He said, "Sorry about the mess," as he was about to step out the door. He didn't offer to clean it up or anything. I told him he needed to and he informed me that he didn't have a broom. I asked him to at least hand me the large pieces, which he did and then left, leaving me with a mess. (I have pictures to document this for the skeptical.) I was appalled and this lack of concern for quality prompted me to look closely at his work. As he was pulling out of my driveway, I called him on his newly-procured cell phone to inform him that the new hardware on the basement door was installed backward. He came back without an argument, but didn't seem to understand what was wrong with the installation (which was painfully clear to me). I had to become quite animated in explaining why his work was a problem before he understood. I was no impressed by the overall experience. I am giving some "C" grades as an averaged response.
's work and visit was an "A," for sure, but his technician's was an unmitigated "F." Overall, I wouldn't use them again. After my experience with Columbus Locksmith and now Snap & Crack, I am left to wonder: are good locksmiths really that hard to find?

was very easy to reach by phone, accommodated my schedule without any issues, and promptly changed out all of my locks the very next morning."
showed up just a few minutes ahead of schedule (absolutely not a problem with being a little early), changed out all locks very quickly, gave me several keys to go with my new locks, and provided the entire service for a very fair value.
also noted that the gate to my backyard didn't close completely. He quickly grabbed a grinder from his pick-up and ground a metal bolt down so that my gate could close securely. That went above and beyond my expectations and truly made the entire experience exceptional. I would definitely use this company again!

In addition to the roughly $100-200 for the lockset itself, I would expect from $50-100 range (depending on your local labor costs) by a locksmith, ASSUMING you get a lockset that uses the existing door and frame lockset holes - should only take about 15-30 minutes in that case. Could run into maybe $100 more for a carpenter or the locksmith to fill and glue the existing holes and then drill new ones if lock does not fit the existing (probably "standard" hole spacing and setback - or maybe $200-300 more for carpenter to put in entirely new striker side trim and paint to match if you don't like the looks of the filled holes.
I understand your concern - but locksmiths are criminal record vetted and bonded pretty well, so not a major risk there. Unless you bought the deadbolt and entry lockset as a boxed set - both keyed the same - it would be normal for him to rekey so they use the same key. People do not want to have to fumble with two different keys to get in, so he probably just did not think to ask if you wanted them the same. Is it also possible he was keying to match a back or garage door lock too so all your entry doors use the same key ? A large portion of their work is rekeying locks after change of tenants or owners, or changing out a worn out lockset, so that would be second nature to him to do it - I don't personally think you have a high risk from this, unless perhaps you live in a very upscale house and had a lot of valuables laying around that he could see while working. If that $66 million Van Gogh painting you bought yesterday was leaning against the entry wall waiting to be hung, then I might be a bit concerned - otherwise not.

Locksmith reviews in Belton

Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
returned my voicemail quickly and was very friendly and professional over the phone. He was able to get to my house within 3 hours of our conversation, and he fixed the problem quickly. He provided a very thorough and understandable explanation of the problem and how to avoid it in the future. And he charged a very reasonable price. I was very happy with the service he provided and would absolutely recommend the company to others.
- Erin H.

Because of the touchy nature of the situation,
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
had made it clear that if there was any kind of confrontation, they would leave and I would be charged for the visit. This was completely understandable and acceptable to me. I also had a neutral third party lined up from my real estate agent's office, to make sure there could be no complaints afterwards.
I was scheduled for a window between 9am and 11am. I came to the house at 8:45am, and the ex-wife was still in the process of moving out. I didn't interfere, the situation stayed civil, I explained what I was planning to do, and I waited for the locksmith to arrive.
By 10:45am, it took a phone call to
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
to discover that the locksmith was delayed at an emergency lockout, and would arrive in another 30-40 minutes. I certainly understand that things happen, but since I had a third party waiting for my call, it would have been nice to be notified when the delay was first known.
The locksmith did show up within that additional window, and he was professional and courteous. There was a bit of scrambling on my part, as I tried to figure out how the ex would continue moving out while I changed the locks. We eventually agreed to have the locksmith re-key just the deadbolt, and leave the doorknob in place. This way, the ex could secure the door without worrying about being locked out, and I could later secure the door once she was done.
The locksmith was quick and efficient, and refused to be sloppy. After putting the deadbolt back together, it mostly worked but something was binding. Rather than just pack up and run off, he took the time to disassemble the lock, determine the mistake he had made, assembled the lock correctly and made sure it worked flawlessly.
Considering the nature of the service, and the potential for things to go wrong, I was very happy with the service provided by
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
and would call them again for any locksmith work without hesitation.

Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
was on time, professional and completed the project quickly. It was a fantastic experience. He also noticed that our front door lock was loose and he tightened it upwithout charge. I highly recommend Eastern and

I bought the Angie's List $19.00 special for a service call. Since I've had this issue with the gate lock seasonally as the door expands/contracts I knew it would take about 1 minute to correct the problem.
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
was nice and on time and did in fact make the adjustment in about a minute. I was however surprised that there was an additional $35 charge for the adjustment. I had assumed that the $19 "for a service call" included the service.

We just moved into this house and the locks were nearly impossible to use. After struggling with the front door in particular for two weeks, I emailed
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
through Angie's list.
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
called me within minutes of me emailing. He said he'd come the next day between 8 and 9. He and his assistant came within the time frame and worked for a little over an hour, explaining everything along the way. I now have two doors that work flawlessly and nobody has the keys except us. Most of the cost was parts and tax. I will definitely hire again.

I called
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
on a Saturday morning, after learning that the lock on a busy wrought iron gate at
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
Street was broken. The owner of an apartment house in our complex had removed the waterlogged lock because it was inoperable.
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
met me that morning, told me the lock that had been on the gate was an indoor lock, and he would get me a great replacement. He did, coming back Monday with an Arrow Revolution lock that from its You Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvRWp8dBdwY) appears to be able to withstand just about anything.
Problem was, whoever installed or removed the previous lock had mangled the gate.
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
and his people were there every day trying to make the install work. Finally on Thursday of that week, they brought a new custom box for the lock and a
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
to weld it on. They finished up the work at 10;30 that night.
Through it all,
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
was extremely responsive, and wanted to get the job finished as much as I did. He then came back a week later and painted the lock – which looks great.
(He also charged an extra $440 for the custom box and welding work, which the apartment owner paid for.) Despite the fact that this job was eating up gobs of time,
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
never complained. He focused on getting the job done right, which I really appreciated.
I was very happy with
Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
's initial fast response, his follow-up, and perseverance to get the job completed successfully. I highly recommend him and his team.
- Jim M.

Belton Locksmiths Provider Name Locked
was great, friendly and professional. He showed up on time and listened to my problem and understood right away what I needed. He worked quickly and finished promptly. He checked out the new keys to make certain they worked and waited for me to check them for myself.

I would use his company again and recommend this company to anyone who need a locksmith.

Great service! Changed locks around the house. Very responsive when scheduling and fantastic to work with day of. We would use them again in the future.
