"This was a very positive experience. We were planning a move from Virginia to Minnesota and knew it would be about a 20-hour car trip for our two cats, who are not" good travelers. I wanted to arrange transportation that would minimize their time in a moving vehicle and wanted to avoid having to take them to a motel. I found
via Angie's List and reached out to the owner,
, for additional information. He explained that they provide door-to-door ground transportation at a per-mile cost, and that our animals would be the only ones on whatever vehicle they used for the trip (i.e., they wouldn't group our animals with others' critters going to the same location or other spots along the way). Also, for a small upcharge, they would use a van for our transportation, and we could load any household belongings that we wanted to have transported along with our animals. I was a very nervous customer, as I knew my cats were "high maintenance" (though i was probably the one who deserved that description!) and difficult to crate, but
patiently answered all my questions and assured me that they would be in good hands. On the day of pickup, I was contacted by my driver,
, who was arrived just at the time he planned to. I had one of my cats already crated in our own (wire) crate and transferred him to the (hard sided) crate provided by PETS.We used a small litter box that I had ready to go, but
also had one that we could have used. While the cats might have been a little more comfortable in crate that was a bit larger, they did just fine. (One of our cats is
sized--almost 20 pounds.)
kept in touch with me all along the way to let me know how the cats were doing and to provide calm reassurance that everything was going well--and it was. The cats arrived at their appointed location in Minnesota about 24 hours after they left our house in Virginia, and I believe the trip was as stress-free as it could have been for all concerned.
and
were extremely helpful, friendly, patient, and understanding, and I wouldn't hesitate to use their services again.

"The employees were very nice. We looked at several different cats and I finally decided to adopt 2 kittens. Afterwards they were very straightforward explaining" the costs and the paperwork. I've had the cats for 2 years now and they are both still in good health.

Animal rescues most often need foster parents to take care of dogs and cats in their system so the pets don't have to live in shelters for an extended time.

Are you considering adopting a new cat or dog? Consider fostering first. Fostering saves lives, and it helps you see how well the pet fits into your family.

As a responsible pet parent, you should be taking them to the vet regularly for vaccinations and check-ups, says Stewart. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Elaine R. of St. Louis)

The bill was $300 but I also got vitamins and stuff. They do animal rescue as well. I like that it is close. They are okay, and I think they are just trying to do too much in one spot. I am not a big fan. I have had to wait in the waiting room for 45 minutes after my appointment. The vets are great, but the people I have to deal with to get to the vet aren't so great.

It was wonderful. They don't have a physical location (they are a network of foster homes) but when we wanted to see some dogs, they arranged for us to meet them at a shelter with an outdoor run space we could play with them. We met five different dogs before we found the one that matched us perfectly.
They transported him to our house. He came to us happy and healthy. We took him to the vet soon after and the vet said he'd been very well taken care of and was very healthy.
We got paperwork for him with all his updated shots and rabies tags. They also send us copies of everything we needed in the mail. We also got a Christmas card from them!
I had questions about our dog after he came home with us and the foster mom has been GREAT at answering any and all questions I had. She has made herself available even after the adoption. Our dog came to us with FANTASTIC manners. He is house broken and can sit on command and is so well behaved. Its a great tribute to how well the foster mom did raising him!
I can't go on enough about how much me and my fiance love this agency! Do not miss the

I have dealt with the company recently at their Adoption Event at Stownstown in front of Pet Food Express n 10/19/2014. To be more precise I have adopted a puppy 8 weeks old, I was surprised when after adoption agreement got signed and the puppy was handed to me I was asked to follow the woman, who first was dealing with the paperwork, as the puppy was to get first round of vaccines, so the puppy of this young age has not been vaccinated prior to the adoption event which is ridiculous as it is and I am sure would not be if not adopted. So the woman took me to a car parked nearby, another younger woman took a box out of the car of questionable cleanness then vaccines out of the box (do not remember if the box was a cooler) and administered the shots right there in the street that also seemed not right.

When home the puppy vomited, I didn't take it too seriously thinking that the poor baby might be tired or not well as just got the shots.

To make long story short, the pup was deteriorating rapidly and on the fourth day after adoption I took him to
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
hospital where the pup got tested and diagnosed with Parvo infection, Dogs' Ebola as the doctor called it to make me realize how serious it was. Parvo infection is highly contagious; the incubation period of the disease is 10 days. The pup was throwing up blood by the time. I was advised at
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
hospital to rush the puppy to the nearby Nor
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
Veterinarian Emergency Clinic as puppy's condition was critical and urgency crucial. I drove there without slightest hesitation (it was a 10 minutes drive). The doctors at the clinic told me that there still was a
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
to save the pup and they gave me the dollar estimate of the treatment and a first deposit of $ 1700. 00 was to be made in accord with the clinic's policy that without hesitation I charged to my credit account

as the pup's life was at stake. The pup immediately got hooked up to IV machine and a feeding tube, Thanks God puppy is alive back home and under scrupulous care,,

My charges summed up to $ 3749.9

I tried to contact the Company since the pup got diagnosed, however it is almost impossible to get hold of them. They never answer the calls, mail
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
is constantly full. When eventually it took a while ( I am omitting the details) I got hold of imagine who, the Founder/President of the "Company,"

Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
and told her that pup was at Nor
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
intensive care with Parvo , now listen carefully humane society!, what the Founder of rescue organization suggested: " Bring the pup,- she goes,- to our Vet it will cost less." The "Dog Savior" suggests to unhook dying pup from the systems that keep him alive and bring him to "their Vet" and she insists on that. Is this a proper practice of a reputable caring organization whose main concern is rescuing dogs and their wellbeing. This animal was neglected and abused not only by his previous owners, but by the "
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
" organization as well. First of all by not giving the shots to the animal timely, by exposing unvaccinated tiny puppy to infections just by having him at the "Adoption Event" I found out later that no obligatory preliminary medical tests or treatments are being provided to any of the animals that are offered to public for adoption by this "Rescuers" They jeopardize the animals at their possession, other pets in the families of adopters. .

I feel obligated to share this information with potential victims of the "Rescuers" who are making money on poor abandoned animals. On my numerous requests to meet with
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
, she though expressed willingness never provided me with date and place. According to the Adoption Agreement RDR is responsible for the further vaccinations of the pup and neutering. Second round of shots was scheduled for 11/19/2014 , however no calls from them and the do not answer my texts, calls ant e-mails.

MARS is run by very caring and professional people. We were always kept
informed throughout the entire adoption process. The adoption fee is
pretty standard and considering what the shelter does for the animals
(transport alone from S/E Missouri region all the way to Chicago), it's a
steal.

The meeting process is done in a private area in the back
of a pet supply store in Buffalo Grove, IL. Everyone on the MARS team
was wonderful to work with. All of the animals we saw, included the one
we adopted, looked happy and healthy and all of the families there to
adopt seemed to be well chosen. The adopted animal comes micro chipped,
neutered if age appropriate, and with a full medical history to take to
your new Vet.

The adoption process for a new pet can be
challenging. To have a competent, caring and professional adoption
staff helping you along the way is priceless. MARS provides a great
service to both the new family and the adopted animals.

I strongly recommend them should you decide to adopt a new family member.

I felt pressured to adopt the dog I adopted; she's a great dog that needed some work but I did have to deal with a guilt trip to get me to consider her and adopt her
I ended up volunteering for this rescue and stopped doing so because I was uncomfortable with them misleading people about being a "not for profit" instead of a non-profit. They are incorporated as a non profit in the state which one has to do to be able to apply to be a charity at the federal and state level. They never did the later steps.
I was also concerned with some other issues of this rescue having foster families that do not have the licenses the state requires to conduct adoptions do the adoption appointments at their homes or in driveways of volunteers that are near the pet stores where they show their dogs each week. Dogs were often in need of vet care the day they were adopted and had not been seen by a local vet at all; dogs were often placed at homes that they knew would not be a good fit and were returned with the founder making comments about how she didn't mind the returns of an easy to place dog because she could just get another adoption fee paid out of it, Another issue was that the founder of the rescue often re-homed her own pets, including ones adopted from other rescues or shelters by placing them up for adoption through

The adoption fee included spaying and veterinary thing. It worked out well. They have friendly staff. They allowed us to bring our dog in and made sure that the two dogs could get along. They were not only accommodating in that aspect but they made sure that we did that. They were knowledgeable. They were very good. The fee was fine.

At first I thought
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
was a stand up organization. I adopted a puppy I named
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
from them on October 12, 2014 after having an application reviewed, my references check, and my home inspected. I had never seen the puppy standing since he had not received all of his vaccines. When I got him home and put him down I realized he was extremely malnourished an within three days that he was ill and not just adjusting to new food. I took him to the vet by day 4 and he was dewormed and on day 5 received medications for a severe ear infection that he must have had for a very long time and an intestinal infection. By day 5 he started to display neurological problems. I took him back to the vet and she referred me to a neurologist which I took
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
to the following day. He prescribed some additional antibiotics because it appeared the ear infection had ruptured his ear drum and spread to his inner ear. I contacted
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
to express my concern over the lack of care
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
received in his foster home. It appeared by the paperwork that he may have been there between 4 to 6 weeks and had been to a vet - but because of his condition - we questioned if he had actually received the medications listed on the form. I asked several questions the vet requested I ask - such as did he have any reactions to the medications that may have caused them to stop giving it to him, did he have any reactions to his vaccines. He had a brother adopted out through
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
, were they aware of any neurological problems his brother was having. I said that any information they provide could only help us save
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
's life. They NEVER acknowledged or responded to my e-mail.
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
may not have been in their care as long as I thought he had but since they didn't bother to respond to me - I can only assume that he was.
Unfortunately,
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
continued to decline and the vet believes the infection had spread to
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
's brain and changed his medications to stronger antibiotics and steriods which are not normally prescribed to puppies but it was our desperate attempt to save him. Despite all of my vet's efforts - he lost his ability to stand and walk, lost his vision, and we believe was losing his hearing. Since he was not responding to even the super strong medications and he was continuing to deteriorate and was suffering greatly, he was euthanized on October 29, 2014. Despite the fact that he was dying the whole time I had him - he still managed to gain 9 pounds in 14 days.
I am aware that any time you adopt a rescue there are health risks and I am willing to take them. But in my opinion,
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
was neglected while in the foster home of
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
and that neglect
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
to his suffering and death. The fact that the organization never responded to my e-mail and made no attempt to answer any of our questions to help
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
leads me to believe that they don't care about the animals after they are adopted out. I was not trying to give him back or get a refund - I fell in love with the puppy and I was going to keep him and take care of him. I spent well over $1,000 in medical bills in the two weeks I had him. All I wanted from
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
was information to help
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
and to alert them to a possible problem with one of their foster homes.
Shame on
Savage Animal Rescues Provider Name Locked
. If you do adopt from them, take your pet to the vet the very next day and don't trust the paperwork they give you.
