Home Remodeling Reviews in Roseville

I had previously hired
to do a few smaller projects around our house and he did good work for a fair price, so when it came time to hire someone to help us relocate our pet grooming salon into a new space, we felt comfortable trusting
and his team of subcontractors to handle the job.
The price I stated above (and this review) does not include the plumbing or electrician, as I paid them directly.
does all the subcontractor coordination, but doesn't take the standard 10% general contractor's cut; you pay his subs directly.
is a one-man show and did the work himself, other than plumbing and electrical, which are required to be done by a Master Plumber and Master Electrician by code for commercial work.
He performed the work, did a lot of field design drawing from his experience and creativity to make things work best, he handled the city permits and inspections (a huge help) and he handled the subcontractor coordination.
was a godsend, to have him do all that for the price he charged.
's work is very high-quality and very well done. He is very honest, has a lot of pride in his workmanship, and truly cares about his customers.
If you have a residential or commercial remodeling project, I have no hesitation in recommending Big Pike

I have used
's Services for a couple of other larger projects and have always been very satisfied. Everyone is very professional which is important to me with having three kids at home. He is very timely and knows what he is doing. There are no corners cut. Most important of all is the end result which has always met or exceeded my expectations.
In this last scenario, I gave
a call, certain he would not be available to help on short notice. He was in the middle of another job, but he was able to make time the same day to come over to assess the situation. He was able to reset the piece of foundation and repair the garage door so we could get my wife's car out. That's the best service I received in quite a while!

previously removed an old storm door and installed a new one for us (see previous review). When other plans for a different door fell through we contacted him for an estimate for what we thought might be a challenging installation. His estimate was higher than his usual price for similar work, due to these challenges. He explained what would need to be modified and since we knew he would do good work, we agreed to it. Just like last time, he showed up on the day and time he promised, and got it done right the first time. It is nicely seated and sealed, looks great, and works great, so we are quite satisfied.

is a great guy. He had some nice ideas he suggested based on his previous work. He came when he said he would and the result is a much-nicer basement.

did uncover some very poor DIY plumbing conducted by the previous owner. While the cost jumped based on this finding, he did the right thing and ensured the new plumbing work was up to code. Again, while this cost more money, I now have a basement bathroom that is up to code.
The low score on quality is primarily based on the baseboard. The cheap baseboard looks horrible and I'll be working with a friend to re-do. Other areas of detail such as paint edging, paint splatter, and rough edgegs on drywall brought down the score and are things I'm taking care of.

At first things seemed to go well.... but when he gave us a verbal estimate and pushed for the hard sell, things went bad when we wouldn't sign a binding contract the same day. . We could not get a legitimate bid in writing which concerned us. We told him we needed to think about it, again it concerned us he wouldn't leave us a dollar estimate in writing it really sent up the red flags. He had doodled up dollar amounts on scratch paper, but nothing clearly defined as a bid and nothing he was willing to leave with us.

The conversation and the situation became stressed when we stuck to our guns and said we do not make decisions like this on the spot. At that point, he said he needed to make a phone call and wanted to go into OUR basement to make it - weird.. We never heard him talking on the phone and we felt like he was listening in on our conversation upstairs. When he came back up, we told him we would be in touch but needed to discuss financing. Then as he was leaving he stood right in our kitchen and made a FAKE phone call to his "manager" talking about us but we could tell he wasn't talking to anyone!!!

The sad part is, it seemed like a good product and we would have went with this company if he hadn't pushed the hard sell and then made the insulting fake phone call in our kitchen. We realize now, all

refinishing reps have are the wall materials - they have to contract everyone else to do the framing and the actual work, so you are not really dealing with the contractor at all who is going to be doing your work - you've got a salesman who wants to sell his wall product.. We were really disappointed. The good news is, it made us take out a membership on Angie's list today.

I was very pleased with the quality of his work and his professionalism. On several occasions when the work would really require a certified tradesman (plumber, electrician) he consulted by phone with someone with that training from the company and provided recommendations. I provided a list of the things that I wanted done before he came by email, but I added some things once he was here and he happily took them on. He was also very good at staying within his skill set. He didn't try to take on things that he wasn't qualified to do but he did call for advice from specialists in the company and was able to provide useful advice on how to proceed. The only minor disappointment is that I asked the individual that was here to ask the insulation specialist in the company to contact me to set up an estimate and I have not heard back from them. It is a minor issue because I could pick up the phone and call and I plan to.

Everyone at
Roseville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very professional and polite. The guy who inspected the bathroom ceiling told us that his meter showed that there was probably water damage in the walls also. He couldn't inspect the roof (not his area), so he had to have someone else come out and do that. They couldn't tell us for sure what had caused it, or if it will leak again. We got an estimate, which include the bathroom ceiling and re-caulking the vent pipes on the roof. For the potential damage to the ceiling, we thought we should go with the professionals. But after seeing the small area that they actually scraped and painted on the ceiling, I was surprised. Our handyman could have done as nice of a job for a lot less. If the first guy's assessment of the damage was more accurate, and we had received an accurate description of the small amount of work that was actually going to be performed, we wouldn't have used them. I think their pricing fits better with much bigger projects.

This past December, our 1968, 4-level split home was severely damaged by ice dams. After being dried out by a professional mitigation company, we hired

went above and beyond the call of duty to work with all of the trades (we had independently hired our own HVAC, electrician, plumber, and wood flooring contractors) to make sure we received the best service. He also allowed us to do some demo work and painting ourselves to save money.

and his crew always let me know in advance exactly when they would be at the house, which was very considerate considering I work from home. They put up plastic zipper walls to contain the mess and cleaned up well after themselves. I was pregnant at the time and

took extra precautions to test for asbestos in the exterior siding that was being disrupted as well as lead in the interior wall and window paint. He was very sensitive to my pregnancy and always made sure to give me plenty of notice on the days that I needed to be out of the house due to staining or other potentially hazardous smells.

physically marked out the placement of the windows, doors, cabinets, etc. per the plan to review with us before actually installing, which I found very helpful. Our kitchen island design required a knee wall to be built to support the floating marble countertop. There was some confusion between how

After deciding on my budget and the scope of the project, I met with
Roseville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
who had creative ideas to make my home open and full of light, appealing for living and entertaining.
Roseville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
was always patient and an attentive listener, and came back with plans incorporating the ideas of both of us. Throughout the project he, his architect, and I used email for additional drawings, such as when I added the portico. This was very efficient and easy for me to understand and alter as I needed.

I was pleased that there was a site manager throughout the project, and
Roseville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
often visited during the extensive project to problem solve and to work. We talked out solutions and details. I had these two people to respond to my ideas, questions, and requests.

I found

to be ethical, creative, and fun while tremendously hard working. My concerns were seriously considered and addressed. Problem-solving, always present in remodeling a 1960's home, was creative and fun. With

continued to help with wood floor stain; the wall, cabinet, and trim colors; and with the portico and exterior house colors. To this day if I have a concern, it is heard and addressed appropriately. I really enjoyed working with the Mackmillers. Their enthusiasm, experience, creativity, and respect made this a wonderful experience with a gorgeous outcome, so much so that the house was on the Remodeler's Spring Open House Tour.

I am pleased with the new windows and sliding French doors that look out over the water, providing a nose-to-nose view of birds and mammals. I love the light, the island between the kitchen and living room and its mirroring soffit, the enlarged granite counter space, the beautiful floors, and the two full baths.

I will work with the Mackmillers again, and continue to work with

on completing the decorating. I hope to tackle the downstairs part of the house with their help.
