Asbestos Removal reviews in Lakeville
The team of three arrived on time the day of the project. They too answered our questions and explained what they would be doing. In addition to using the air scrubber, they put a heavy piece of plastic over the bedroom door to help keep the fumes out of the rest of the house. Heavy plastic was put down on the floors to keep them clean, and at the end of the day, they vacuumed all of the carpets where they had been working.
Their work was of the highest quality. They not only vacuumed the clothing in the closet, but they hung them in the other bedrooms on racks that we had rented. Not long into the process, we realized that we needed to have paint applied to the living room and entrance hall doors. One of the men went out and bought the paint. The crew put up blue tape everywhere it was needed to allow clean painting.
We have had various work done over the years, and I appreciate good workmanship. MCA provided extraordinary professional workmanship.
I will recommend them to others in a heartbeat.
i now know that my wife should not be put in this position ever again, because they must have strong-armed her into paying them the other half despite not even coming close to finishing the job. i'll admit that they removed the plywood thoroughly. they also broke one of my lamps in the process and left the broken glass all over the floor, made a lot of huge holes in the wall, and didn't install the new plywood! and they didnt even leave the plywood here for me after i paid for it haha. i mean it's one thing not to install it, but i would have at least taken the spare plywood to later install myself or sell or something. ridiculous. i tried calling him a million times to get a receipt or some sort of invoice which he refused to give me. i also wanted him to pay me money for breaking my lamp and not doing half the job. please do not be scammed by this guy.
After an initial consultation with the salesperson / supervisor (who was actually a very nice guy), and receiving a quote from them,
I emailed and called to let them know that I was ready to get started with the work. After thirteen days of the salesperson promising that he would schedule the job (“I’ll call you back later today” was a common line I heard), I told
him that I would need to look elsewhere if we couldn’t get a firm date on the calendar. He finally responded and scheduled work to start the next week. I should have known that the salesperson’s seemingly “too busy” schedule would pose a problem down the line – and it did!
When the work was done, I told the salesperson / supervisor that I wanted to meet him at the house to make sure that all of the work had been done. He told me that he didn’t think that would be possible, because he had too much on his plate that day. I again had to be firm and told him that I needed to check everything with him. He said that he would be by the house at 5:00PM, and that he would call me to tell me when to come over. When he did call, he said that he was on a very tight schedule, and that he would only be at the house for 10 minutes. The implication was that if I couldn’t be there within ten minutes, I wouldn’t be able to check things with him. I did run over there and meet him, only to find that portions of the work that were required had not been completed.
He had a crew come out a few days later to finish up what they had missed. Unfortunately, they left without having completed some of the work again.
During the work, they had piled lots of material and debris on two couches that I was storing the garage. When I contacted the salesperson about this, he attempted to shirk responsibility, and told me that since there were other crews on site, I should check with them. I told him that it was his crew's materials that had ruined the couch, and he told me to send pictures. They eventually agreed to send someone out to clean the couch -- that will be happening next week. I appreciate that they are trying to resolve this, but it should not have been something that I had to bring up myself, nor should it have been something that the salesperson tried to blame on someone else.
The next ordeal involved the pick up of the bags of hazardous waste from the job site. They left all of the bags of asbestos and lead containing materials, and lead-containing windows, in the house and in the back yard. I was promised that they would come by the day after completion to pick it up, but they did not. I called the salesperson / supervisor, and he told me that everything would be removed the next day. It was not – they did remove some of the materials, but hazardous material remained around the house (yes, it was contained, presumably safely, but…). Hazardous materials remained at the house for eight days after they had completed work. I had to make numerous telephone calls and send numerous text messages to get them to pick everything up.
The most frustrating part of the whole drama was related to billing. The salesperson emailed me one invoice, and told me that billing would send me another. They never did. The salesperson, who wanted his commission (he would not be paid until I paid the company), began to pressure me to pay, quite aggressively. I told him that I hadn’t received the full bill. The next day he sent me a jumble of partial invoices and “scope of work” sheets that didn’t add up. I raised questions about the total billed, and also raised questions about two other facts: I had been charged twice for “Initial set-up and mobilization” (at $450 a pop), and had also been billed for part of the work that the crew never completed. The salesperson didn’t seem to care about this, and told me that the “invoices were correct” and that I should pay right away. I told him that I could not pay anything until I had complete invoices and until he addressed my concerns about the invoices I had actually received. He ignored those concerns again, and now told me that payment had been due three days earlier (quite infuriating, since I hadn’t received invoices I needed!) and that I had to pay that day. He told me that I had to pay, and that he would be unavailable for the rest of the day because he would be playing golf where they did not allow cell phones.
Frustrated, I reached out to someone in corporate, who began to investigate. A bit later, I got a call from the salesperson’s supervisor, who began to question me about my questions about the bill. It felt like I was being criminally interrogated. At one point, he threatened that he would charge me for something that they had previously agreed would be done at no charge—I presume this was his way of trying to get me to give in. Even more frustrating was that he had only talked to the salesperson, and had not reviewed any of my specific questions before he called me. He did not understand my actual concerns about the bill. When I later mentioned to someone in corporate that this person had been very rude to me, she told me that it was "how he was with everyone." Really? He's like that with everyone, and you have him interface with customers?
Eventually, the person I spoke with in corporate resolved things. But this was not after a great deal of stress and frustration. I will avoid
