The gentleman who helped me was amazing. No pressure to buy further, helpful tips for doing work myself to save on money and an all around great guy. Spent almost an hour afterwards talking about families and personal projects afterwards. Would definitely use again.

Provider offered this service as a "Big Deal" on Angie's List. However, when I bought it and then contacted the provider, he told me that the home I wanted inspected was outside his service area. He did, however, offer to give me free advice over the phone in the future. That is why I gave a B overall rating. I did not use this service because I did not buy the house.
I would say this was a problem caused by Angie's List, not the provider. Angie's List needs to acertain what the service area is for the Big Deals they advertise before offering them online.

Serviced units, found several problems or pending problems and fixed same in follow-up service call. Ensured units were back to near-peak operating condition (units are very, very old) and restored cooling capability. Their work allowed us to stretch these units service life a bit longer, which was well appreciated. We also gained some energy efficiency as realized in lower electric bills thanks to the work they did on these units.

We had
Hopkins Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
sales person come in to get us a quote on a water boiler and water heating units. The price and service seemed great, so we picked them and deposited $300 with a contract signed. We went through the MassSave promo for financing interest free and that took most of the time.
They would not setup an appointment until we had secured the funds. They said we need to give them 60% now and then rest during/after install. Their reasoning was that they had to order equipment and needed the 60%.
Over a week ago, we had received our checks, ready for us to sign to them. I had contacted them on the same day and a lady I had been working with said someone would call me from their department to set things up. Three days later, I contacted her again and she said that my request was made a priority and that I would receive a call within two days. Three more days later, I tried contacting NSL and the lady that was handling this was out of the office until end of the week (4 business days).
I'm not sure what their problem is, but it seems to me as if they are not in the business to help a customer ready to hand them a good chunk of $ for what they do for living.
So far, I'm still waiting to hear back on setting up an actual appointment to get things installed, that they have yet to order.
My impressions of this company is making me think twice on this choice because I also got their 5 year service plan, which they would not give me ANY details on what it comprised of. I'm very unhappy with

and will never use them ever. Poor customer service, attitude, and no respect for cutomers time is going to only ruin their brand.

The entire process was incredibly slow. I kept getting the feeling that the company was overextending itself and could not devote the amount of time to a particular project because it had to repeatedly go back to old projects that were never completed in the first instance. On the day that work was set to begin on my house, Nick came by himself that afternoon and looked around a bit. He then said he would have to spend the rest of the day shopping for the products he would need to perform the work. That was very irritating because I schedule the day off from work for him to essentially spend a couple of minutes in the house, only to buy products that he should have already known he'd need. He and/or his team came for several days to complete the job over the course of the next month or so. Some of the work required inspection, so it could not be completed in a week's time. But again, scheduling was a big problem, so they'd squeeze me in where they could... this significantly prolonged the process. This company is clearly in high demand. Nick and his team do really top-notch work. It's the scheduling that is the biggest problem and he was not always upfront and professional about these issues. The other concern that I have is when he finished, there was a room in the basement that they could not finish insulating because the insulation machine ran out of spray foam. Nick wanted me to agree to forget about insulating and just deduct that amount from the agreement, insisting that the cost of bringing the machine back to my house would not make it worth his while for the amount I would be paying him to finish the job. I really do not see how that could possibly be my problem and I did not appreciate or understand why he would bring that up. Still, I was in a crunch in regard to getting the job done by a particular deadline required by the crediting agency, so I reluctantly agreed... but only because Nick promised me he would come back and finish the job. That has not happened as yet and he ignored several of my emails asking for a date he would come back. I ultimately called him and he inidicated that he would finish the foam job when he is doing a similar project that requires the machine in my area.
The grades he has so far are based on the current status of things. The job is 99% done... and done remarkably well. It's these other issues and the fact that I am still waiting on the final piece that is bringing the grade down.

Technician arrived on time. I showed him the two doors and an example window. We have storm windows in place all around the home. I went to my office and asked him to have my son get me if he had any questions. Later when I came to check on the technician, he was gone. The technician had told my son he would communicate with me via Angie's List. I went and checked the two doors and they were re-weather stripped as I had expected. I have not seen anything from the vendor in the Angie's List messages. I am not sure there is anything the technician could do with my windows but I do not even know if he looked at any more than the one I showed him. If he could not do anything with the windows, I was going to ask him to do one interior door that leads to the work shop instead of the 15 windows he was supposed to check. I thought the communications was very poor.

I could not be more pleased with this company or this service. I found them here on
Hopkins Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
and with a rebate, it was a great deal. When I called, the woman who answered was extremely polite and helpful and took the time to go over the entire audit process with me (she wasn't rushed as some receptionists are). They sent an email to confirm the date and time.
When the team arrived, they were on time and each of them introduced themselves by name to me before coming into my house. They were all very polite and courteous. The leader (I can't remember his name) gave me an overview of the process and explained things as they went. Basically, they simulate high winds around the house and then monitor for where leaks are. My house is relatively new and has no basement, so it was already pretty efficient, but there were some major leaks by the front door and attic door, which they sealed on the spot. They also showed me that I could hold my hand over any electrical socket, even ones on interior walls, and feel the "wind"--which means air was leaking out those! So I plugged them all with those little socket protectors. The guys also took me into the attic and showed me some leaks, and fixed them--and fixed the attic door by adding a little latch to help it stay closed. All in all, they reduced the amount of air getting into my house by 500 (I forget the units). It was clear they didn't just make up this number--they showed me the number after the first test and then after the second test (when they had treated the problem areas).
I also got a few free CFLs and LEDs, and bought 3 more LEDs since they were at a great price. They left some rebates with me, although all my appliances are new so I didn't need anything.
When they left, they each said goodbye and were very professional until the end. They were respectful in my home and asked before opening any closets or doors, etc. I felt very safe with them here, which is not always the case when people are in your home working. I think the price is a fantastic one, especially with the

rebate that was on when I scheduled. I feel I got my money's worth. My husband and I had tried to plug some leaks ourselves, but we didn't really know what we were doing and we had no way to measure if we were really helping anything. This audit gave me hard numbers to look at and I was impressed that they did the fixes on-site (included in the price--for instance, they plugged a whole around my front door frame by installing a clear plastic

). It was a great deal and a great experience. Highly recommend!
Bonus--when we resell this house in a few years, I will definitely list that we got a professional energy audit performed on it and that it's very efficient. Definitely a selling point!

gave very good ideas, and I implemented them. The problems I encountered where with communication. He came to my home and said he'd email the recommendations -- a week later I needed to remind him to send the report, which he did promptly. I called several months later for him to retest the home, but didn't hear from him, by phone or by email. I kept calling the office and finally received a call-back from someone else. This is when I learned that
Hopkins Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
needed to be out of state for an extended period of time because of a family emergency. When he returned, he contacted me to arrange the retest. I needed to reschedule because of my own family emergency. When we did meet, he retested the house and showed me other areas which I could redo because I misunderstood the original suggestions. He said he would email me with the amount I would be rebated and how I would receive it (check or credit on my electricity account). As before, I didn't hear from him -- had to email a couple of times for a response. Finally received the check, for more than he estimated I'd receive.

The sales agent was very informative and made sure any and all of my questions were answered. He was also arrived on time and did a thorough investigation of the energy issues in my home. The team that installed the radiant

and insulation was also very professional. The only negative comment I have is the pricing. Although the Company offered different solutions for the issues identified, the pricing was a bit high so we only used them for a small portion of the work.
