They did an excellent job.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was excellent about explaining what would be the best thing to do for my insulation, which I knew already from extensive research, but I was checking to make sure he knew what to do. He was excellent about explaining his estimate. They were arrived in a timely manner after I hired them, and completed on time. The workers were profession, completed the job to spec, and cleaned up after themselves.
I had
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
give me estimates for a couple other jobs, but the prices were higher than competitors.

Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was excellent to work with. He scoped and bid the project in April, and understood that we had some time constraints that would likely push out the project date. We stayed in touch and he was very responsive. Eventually we pulled the trigger on the project in September, and he was able to get his crew onsite in three weeks. They knocked out the project in about 14 days. Awesome, all around.

A friend took me to a home that was being remodeled by
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. They were doing the same type of remodel that I would need. Their father, a businessman in Duluth, praised his sons highly and said that they do wonderful work.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was a very upbeat, cordial individual who said he and his brother really like their profession. I was impressed by
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
's attitude about his work, and I asked him to look at the house I bought that needed a total remodel.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
was very enthusiastic and said that he and
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
would like to do the work for me. They wrote up a contract which I signed. They started the work on the house in June.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
said it would take about 2-1/2 months to complete the work.
They worked extremely hard the first 1-1/2 months, but then everything slowed down. I owned another house that I put on the
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
when construction started on my other house. Because their dad recommended them so highly and because I trusted
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
completely, I didn't bother them very often. I asked
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
to call me if he had any questions at all or if he wanted to ask me something. He rarely contacted me, so I would stop by the house at least a couple times a week. After the first six weeks or so, they usually weren't there when I would stop by. Six weeks into the job they weren't at the house for an entire week. The plumber was there when I stopped by and he said that they guys were spending a week in the Boundary Waters. That would have been fine with me, but
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
didn't bother to tell me. They dragged the remodel out from 2-1/2 months to 7 months, which caused many changes in delivery dates of appliances, bathroom fixtures, flooring, etc.
I can't go into much detail because this note would get extremely long, so I'll just give a little information on the outcome of the remodel. The house looks nice on the outside even though they did not do most things the way I requested. I had hired a designer, so
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
had something concrete to go by. He said if I wanted to change anything I should tell him before they started. Well, I did request changes in the windows and they ordered the wrong windows. I asked that a sliding door slide from right to left, but they installed a left to right sliding door. They turned the door around, but now it is backwards, weak, and won't lock. They did many things the opposite of what I asked them to do. I purchased almost all of the interior items, and purchased them on my credit card and didn't use the money alloted to me on the contract. The house looks really nice when you walk inside, but after living here a week, I started noticing everything that was done poorly or incorrectly. The woodwork they chose is very poor quality - probably pine. The closets they chose are of the worst quality. There are hundreds of nail holes on the windows, doors, etc., that weren't filled in. The cabinets they installed were done carelessly, and there are many more things that were done carelessly. The only reason the interior of the house looks as nice as it does is because of the great design and the items I chose for the house.
I typed a list of everything done incorrectly or poorly, and it ended up to be seven pages long. I paid them $15,000 extra at the end of the job, but after paying them they didn't come back to complete things they said they would complete.
I was extremely excited when the remodel started and I trusted them to do very professional work. The finishing work is poor, and I am very worried about what will go wrong with the house, because I don't know how many shortcuts they took to save money. I could go into so much more detail, but this note is already too lengthy, so I'll end here.

and
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
met with me once, and their dad also met with me once. Nothing got settled, because they wanted more money to finish what they were already paid to do.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
will not return my calls and neither will his dad.
I am giving serious thought of contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter.

Make sure you get a lean wavier from this contractor. Do not pay him for Concrete work. Make sure you pay the Concrete provider yourself. I had to write the department of Labor and Industry to put pressure on him to pay Concrete. I ended up taking American Garage to small claims court to get the bill paid finally...

of
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
assessed our property before the construction project started. We (my wife and I) and Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
agreed to and signed a contract on 5-12-2013 for him to construct 2 individual 8'x10' decks to be attached to one side and at each end of our lake home. The contract included a list of materials to be used in the construction of the decks. We also agreed, weather permitting, that Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
could construct the decks while my wife and I enjoyed a 2 week vacation away from the area. Beings Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
lives very close (2 miles) from us, we (mistakenly) trusted him to do what we had agreed to.
Shortly after we returned from vacation we realized the 2 decks had been constructed of smaller (inferior) material than we had agreed to. Where 2x10 inch lumber was to be used (rim joist, joists, and framed beams) Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
substituted 2x8 inch lumber. He poured 8 inch cement
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
footings instead of 10 inch and he also narrowed the width of the 11 step stairway by 6 inches to 42" instead of 48". He did all these changes without our approval or knowledge! When I mentioned these discrepancies to him he said the changes he made were still within codes and he had "made up" for the cost difference by "inhancing" the looks of the decks, then he would quickly change the subject.
Prior to the start of the project we had paid Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
1/2 the total cost of the project when the contract was signed. After the completion of the project my wife and I decided the best way to address our displeasure and unsatisfaction, again, was in writing. We paid him the final 1/2, after all, he did have his expenses to pay. Along with the final payment we included a letter listing our complaints. At that time we figured Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
as a caring businessman and some what close neighbor and would want to contact us to discuss our complaints and/or offer us some sort of agreeable compensation. However, to this day Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
has not personally contacted us. He no longer even acknowledges my presence when we see one another within our local area. Guilty conscience?
My wife and I ordered and paid for something we did not get from this contractor. Yes, we do have 2 decks but they are not built as we specifically ordered. Now, because of the modifications and inferior materials he used, we can no longer consider putting a small 2 person hot tub/spa on either of the decks. A possibility we had discussed with Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
before the contract was signed.
In closing, my wife and I have given Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
ample time to correct his wrong doing. We feel cheated and taken advantage of by him because we went on vacation and were not at our home to "watch over" this licensed professional contractor's work. We feel Mr.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
should correct his unauthorized modifications or as an alternative, to at least issue us an agreeable partial refund. Until he satisfactorly addresses our complaints, with us, We feel responsible to notify others about him and his business. I will continue to give my facts and voice my opinions through reviews and recommendations in hopes others will not have to deal with this same unfortionate ordeal.

My husband and I were looking at buying some land and building a home in a new development. Turns out that a contractor had already put a down payment on the land we were going to purchase. So we went back to the development to find another lot and saw a home for sale by
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
. I called the number on the sign in the front yard, but it just rang and rang. No voicemail. Monday morning I got online and googled Legacy and sent an email to the builder and he promptly responded! My husband and I made an appointment to see the inside of the house and I made my list of questions!!!
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
(owner) was able to answer all of our questions (and there was a page full of them). I was a little skeptical dealing directly with a builder, but
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
made it very easy with his honesty, quick responses to emails, and general knowledge.
The home is beautiful - well built, and exactly what we were looking for.
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
,
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
's wife and co-owner, did an excellent job of picking out paint colors, carpet, flooring, fixtures, etc. We made an offer, and
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
and
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
accepted. We closed in 6 weeks and are all settled now.
This statement was at the bottom of the first email he sent me: "Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives." Yes, indeed.
I'd say I'd buy a home from him again, but I'm pretty sure the one he built that we are living in will last us forever and then some!!!

Constr. has performed work on three separate occasions, doing rehab work on both our previous home (100 yrs old) and our current home (30 yrs old). Not knowing the extent of work needed, we had him perform the work on a time and materials basis, rather than a confirmed bid quote. In both cases, he was very informative as to the conditions that he encountered and the options and costs that were entailed prior to proceeding with the work.

His work is excellent and his attention to detail valuable. If you want a project done right, we would highly recommend him. He will also be doing remodeling of our kitchen in the near future.

Very smoothly - installation required more time than anticipated, requiring contractor to work overtime as well as re-arranging schedule in order to complete the project without interruption. Work was done very nicely and end result appears as thoughnothing had been done.

On August 22nd, 2011, I placed an order for over $2,500 of Ultradeck products (composite deck, rail and fascia material) at the
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
, WI store. The rail spindles were special ordered, so I arranged for a “pending” delivery for the entire purchase (to be scheduled when the spindles arrived in the store).

Beef #1:
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
charged the full amount - including the delivery charge - to my credit card even though I didn’t take possession of the material until 12 days later.

Beef #2: The special ordered spindles arrived at the store the following Wednesday, August 31st, but the store did not notify me. On Saturday, September 3rd, I called the store to ask if the spindles had arrived. Their answer was “yes”, they had arrived four days ago. I asked why they didn’t call me and they said “we would need an entire call center” (to notify customers by phone) and that they sent a postcard notification. To their credit, they did arrange to deliver the materials late on that Saturday and I started the installation on Sunday morning.

Beef #3:
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
failed to deliver the special ordered spindles! They were still at the store. When I asked their customer service to refund the cost of the spindles, they said, “we need to have the product to provide a refund.” (It is in your warehouse!)

Beef #4: After installing 4 of the deck planks, I discovered that the boards were not straight and the gaps between the boards went from too narrow to too wide. (I spaced the boards at 3/16” on both ends.) It looked awful.

Beef #5: When I told the store that the boards were not straight, their response was, “the manufacturer guarantees against cracks, splits, checks and warps.” (Like I was making it up?) Note that there were considerable other defects in the Ultradeck products: significant color variation, dings (like someone hit the product with a hammer in random places), scuffs and air pockets. I told the store that the product was complete garbage. I arranged for the return of all of the Ultradeck composite material.

Beef #6: I asked for a refund for the original shipping cost, to which two people replied in separate conversations, “but we did make a delivery” (of defective product and an incomplete order). I had to ask for the store manager to approve this request.

The product is scheduled for pickup today and I’m washing my hands of
Duluth Home Builders Provider Name Locked
building materials department and Ultradeck products.

Update 9/9/11: I hindsight, the transportation coordinators were helpful and professional during this process, and the shipping and return of the product on their trucks went smoothly.
