Her office staff is friendly. They are able to put my daughter at ease about difficult situations. We get in and out of there without a wait. The fact that we can get in, get seen, and get out is huge. She is very straightforward, which I like. Some people don't like her bedside manner, but I do. She does not throw any

. If she thinks I am taking care of business, she'll let me manage things. If she does not think I am taking care of business she will tell me about it, which I like. I think it is very valuable. She has always been really great with my daughter and with me, very supportive. She is very helpful and supportive. She is very available to her patients.

She was the worst doctor and since she was the only pediatric endocrinologist in Dallas we were stuck with her. She was awful in every way. We were the first appointment of the day and she was 45 minutes late. She did not put the information that had been faxed to her office into the file. She started our appointment by saying that my son had to get all of his blood tests redone. My son got so scared right at the beginning that he didn’t let her touch him. When she finished examining him I got a feeling that she was looking for physical abuse. She was looking for bruises, cuts and broken stuffs. We were basically in and out of there by about 5 minutes. There facility was really nice. I would rather see my son cry than visit her again.

started out by telling us of another patient... parents who were concerned that their child would not reach a socially acceptable height. From the outset it seemed he pigeon holed us. He also asked where we lived and what we did for a living. It felt as if he was trying to ascertain whether or not we were worth his effort. His examination of my child totally lacked thoroughness. Later in the appointment, I had to point out obvious and key physical signs that he had missed.

It appeared that he was inputing information that I supplied on a medical history form, but was later surprised when I referred to it....saying, "I didn't know that." I explained to him that it was written on the form that he had just read. In fact, I circled it because of its importance.

Fortunately, I went to another pediatric endocrinologist for a second opinion. The difference was striking and we are now on the right path.

Office was easy to schedule with. Staff was friendly until we met with the "doctor." Billing ... they billed us about $45 MORE than quoted amount for the exact visit requested. Nothing was done except a look over for the

: no labs, shots, or anything else. We were cash customers, so this really irritated us, especially since we had to redo the appointment with another provider, which was $70 less for the same exact appointment.

... HORRIBLE BEDSIDE MANNER AND SELF-SUPERIOR ATTITUDE!!!!!!!!! Absolutely NOT the practice you want to use if you want to use a non-traditional (prolonged, delayed, or skipped) immunization regardless of your reasons why. They will NOT see a child that is not up-to-date on CDC-recommended immunizations. If you're a person who will want the doctor to do all the thinking when it comes to your child's health, then this might be the perfect place for you. It's "pleasant" in plastic sort of way ... until you aren't an ideal patient/parent. CARE of patients and communication about concern ... NON-EXISTENT in

. Other doctors in the practice might be better, but I'd always be leery of her presence. She called Child Protective Services on us 13 days after our visit because we hadn't scheduled a follow-up appointment with her. She never once called to ask why. (We really hated her, and had already scheduled another 2-month check up with another pediatrician.) The full details are in another review of her specifically.

Bar none, the best endocrinologist we have met. Our daughter has been diabetic for 11 years and we have never met a doctor that provided the kind of care Dr.

"Dr.
Anoka Juvenile Diabetes Doctors Provider Name Locked
" is extremely knowledgeable and she will take time to get to know her patients. She is friendly and caring during visits. But there is a darker, judgmental side to her as well. It was uncomfortable to be in her office and listen to her bad-mouth some of her "other" patients that she felt were not doing a good job managing their diabetes. It made me wonder, "What will she eventually be saying about us and our child?"

Sure enough, we received a letter about seven months later saying that she could no longer serve as our child's doctor, because we had failed to follow her instructions with regard to the frequency of appointments. She wanted to be sure that she saw her patients every three months, and we had let more than six months go since our last appointment. The letter accused us (in capital letters) of "medical negligence." Because in her mind this caused irreparable damage to the trust required in a healthy patient-doctor relationship, she was firing us.

She has a good point. It must be extremely frustrating to try and care for patience that don't follow instructions. On the other hand, it would have been helpful to receive an email or a post card reminder that it was time for another appointment, much like dentists will do.

The bottom line is that if you are considering Dr.

as your pediatric endocrinologist, you have to be prepared to do it all her way, and ready to suffer her accusations if you don't.

A typical visit involves lab testing arranged a week before, a wait of 10 - 15 minutes in the waiting area while filling in a form which details current condition, changes and needs for the consultation, child's height, weight and blood pressure (sometimes temperature,) taken, then further exams as needed in the exam room. This is done by a nurse, nurse practitioner, and usually by the doctor. The doctor discusses progress, and needs with the child and the parent(s.) Child's questions are answered in detail and conversationally, wonderful for a teenage patient. Doctor is encouraging to the child, which is really great when much is being demanded of the young patient for compliance.
