"I regularly have my daughter's figure
sharpened by
. He always charges $10 and can almost always do them" instantly. If not, he is able to have them completed within the day. My daughter is a competitive figure skater, and
sharpens her
perfectly. He and his wife are always extremely courteous. I was particularly thrilled when
was able to sharpen new blades before they were mounted on new
. Again, he completed them within a reasonable amount of time as promised and the charge was still only $10! I was very happy.

"It went Very well. Just to let you know they use vibram for replacing the heel plate. Which is a strong long lasting material.. Where other would use a softer type" of heel plate.. The most outstanding part is I just happen to be there just to check in on the repairs. They were finished but I did not have my ticket number on me. So I said that I will be back with the ticket number so they can find it easier. They advised me that "It would be no problem to find just write down what we worked on and we will find it". Then a few minutes later they came back with all my shoes even though they were in different spots in the store.

Shoe Repair

After decades of losing business, repair shops are reaping a benefit of the sluggish economy as people hang on a little longer to the things they already own.

Customer says she can't wear her shoes because the zipper repair looks bad. Shoe repair shop says they did a good job and won't give her a refund.

Angie's Answers

You would have to have a shoe repair shop evaluate them - some heels are hollow except at the tip so you might not be able to shorten them and retain the necessary strength - others are solid, so he would have to look at them. Might be able to just remove heel cap, cut down, and put heel cap back on.

Bear in mind that cutting the heels down will rock the shoe "backwards", so you will be walking on sole further back on the shoe - if the unthickened sole part betweenthe heel and the ball of the foot would be walked on because of this, you might have to pay him to add leather there to, which might mean resoling the entire shoe - could get pricey, if these are not worth hundreds of $.

As for evaluating a shoe repai place - only thing I can think is if these are pricey shoes, call store and see if they recommend a particular place. Otherwise Search Angies List for sheo repair places and reviews.

Shoe Repair Shop reviews in Ypsilanti

These ratings are sad but true. I used to go to
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
for all of my work and I had plenty of it. No one was better than him. If he could not do it, it could not be done. A couple of years ago, something changed. His work is still excellent but it is almost impossible to get him to finish anything or even be at the store most of the time. Once you hand over your shoes, you may never see them again, or at least not see them for 6 months. I feel something is wrong since he was so excellent for so long, but I have no idea what. In the meantime, I just have to go elsewhere.

I thought I would try
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
for two reasons: First, I was concerned that the other shoe repair place I was using was not providing the quality of work that I wanted; Second, my work hours made the other place difficult to get to and I was hoping somewhere closer to my house, like
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
, would make it a little more convenient.
I dropped my shoes off on a day that I had taken off of work. The owner seemed to know a lot about what the problem was and the shortcuts others had used to repair them. It seemed that he would do a good job and the price was also reasonable ('too cheap' was my first reaction). When he told me that the shoes wouldn't be ready for over a month-and-a-half I was not happy, but committed at that point.
When the date finally arrived, he called and left a long message to tell me that he had hurt his thumb and that it would take longer to get them done. He didn't say when it would get done, but within a week he called to say they were completed.
Although he closes at 6pm, I happened to be in the area about a week after that around 6:30pm, since he had said he is often there at late hours, so I thought I would try. I stopped in front and was disappointed that he was closed. He had just gotten in his car, which you could see from the sidewalk, and he was waving to me to come over so. He didn't get out of his car and it felt like he wanted to go. I told him I just wanted to pick up my shoes. He said he was late for his son's birthday party. I said it was difficult for me to get there. He said, "Well, you obviously dropped the shoes off before" (implying that therefore it shouldn't be a problem to come back another day). I was tempted to make a snarky comment back but I really wanted my shoes and he was starting to get out of the car anyway. In all, I delayed him maybe three more minutes from his party, and most of that was his own chattiness. (Oh yeah, make sure you leave extra time if you drop shoes off because he tends to talk a lot, as well.) I might have been tempted in the future to ignore his quirkiness and the long time it takes to get the shoes fixed, but this odd encounter just ruffled my
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
enough to move on to somewhere else.
I can't speak to the quality of his work because I just got the shoes back. It looks like he did the job, though. They have new heels.

On first contact by phone,
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
gave me an estimate based on the details I provided him. Two weeks later when I dropped off my shoes and boots, I was charged the estimated price. I guess I furnished really accurate specifics. :-) I had tips replaced on two pair of women's high heels. One pair was white and the leather was scraped from the heel but still attached.
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
was able to touch them up with glue and polish so I can continue to wear them without embarrassment.
He replaced the tips on my navy blue high heels and touched up the minor scrapes, so they continue to look new. The burgundy-colored lower, wider heels needed tip replacements. I didn't think these could be saved, but he rescued them. They look absolutely great! These are one of my absolute favorite pair of shoes, which I've had for years.
The shorter square-heeled black boots needed new heel tips, and my knee-high taupe pair needed heel caps, and scuff repair.
My descriptive terms may not be correct, but the point being,
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
did a great job. He got rid of scuffs and he shined the boots and shoes. I had an overall positive experience with the end results I wanted. He was amiable and professional. I highly recommend his services.

This was my first time at
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked

Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
my expensive Italian leather shoes and asked him if they could be lowered. He indicated that it could be done. I picked them up a week later and they were perfect! The owner is very personable and really knows his business. I plan on going back to have him resole some of my husbands shoes. I feel I hit the jackpot when I found this place on Angie's List!

Very well.
Ypsilanti Shoe Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
and easy. Went to the Westerville shoe repair and waited 15 min. just for the guy to show up! Decided to consult my angieslist referral system. I AM SO GLAD I DID! Yakov took care of the problem immediately. He probably had it done the same day but I waited almost a week to come back. It was ready and I was happy! Go to the 72 Dillmont drive near high street in
