"My experience with
and his people was extraordinary.
communicated clearly, in a timely manner and kept me apprised" of the schedule. His workmanship and that of his crew is A+. I could not be happier with the results. Siding had been installed incorrectly without flashing or trim. There were bubbles/waves in the siding, areas where water was directed to the inside of the garage and pieces were cut short leaving gaps at the ends.
told me additional siding would be required to make the repairs. He was concerned about the color difference due to different dye lots and aging of the existing siding. He recommended using existing siding from the back to repair the front and use the new siding to replace the back wall which is 3' from my neighbor's garage and a color difference would go unnoticed. I had the same concerns regarding color and was pleased when
had already considered the same. It was reassuring to know he is attentive to details, had a plan and was thinking ahead.
and
removed the siding, installed flashing, channel and trim where appropriate and reinstalled the siding. It looks wonderful. The seams are barely noticeable, panels are smooth, water is staying out. The other major repair of this project was the dutch door and french doors. Neither door was installed correctly and both leaked at the rough opening and the dutch door leaked between the doors. Creativity was required to repair both doors.
,
and Ralf removed the french doors and trim inside and out. They flashed the opening and installed a handcrafted sill
to accommodate and work with the porch which was built at door sill level. The door and trim were reinstalled. The dutch doors were removed, the rough opening flashed, sill
and threshold were installed. The door was rehung. This door required creativity in keeping the air and water out of the gap between the top and bottom door while retaining functionality and looking good.
accomplished it all. He fashioned a rubber membrane that fills the gap perfectly and looks great. I wish I had found
to do the work initially. I will be contacting him for the next project.

fiber cement siding

How much does siding cost to replace?

Siding is critical in protecting your home from weather and structural damage. Understand when you need to replace your siding and how much it costs.

Siding tip: Ask your siding installer for samples of grades, colors and textures and view them outside at different times of the day. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Paul E.)

Siding

Unless they are made of brick or stone, most homes are protected by some form of exterior siding. Traditionally made of wood, siding now comes in several materials including aluminum and vinyl. Each has its strengths and weaknesses to consider.

More homeowners are choosing fiber cement over vinyl siding or real wood due to its durability and natural look. Discover other reasons to consider it.

Especially if your home's vinyl siding is in the shade, it will require regular cleanings to prevent mold and mildew from appearing. (Photo by Katelin Kinney)

Vinyl siding is durable and easily cleaned. It just takes some elbow grease, or a high-powered pressure washer! Either way, read up on how to best clean vinyl.

Call and ask your contractors these questions.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  It is your money and home.  I would ask for references and take a look at samples of their work (especially the low bidder).  Make sure all are licensed and carry the required insurance.  You don't want to get a bad stucco job, so do your homework first before selecting a contractor; which may not be one of these.  Check with your local building department and local building exchange for more references on these and other contractors.  Good luck.

?

Both choices have plusses and minuses.

I am partial to vinyl siding myself if it is put on by a contractor that pays attention to details in sealing against water intrusion. The better grades of vinyl stand up to the weater very well. The siding on my own home is over 15 years old and shows no signs of fading or any changes due to sun exposure and have had no problems with water entry around windows or doors. It does not dent like the old aluminum siding did or break if hit by a ball or a rock thrown by a lawnmower. As long as you save a few extra panels even if a rock was to be broken by something like a rock it is easier to repair. I will add that the earlier vinyl sidings did tend to fade but I have seen homes I sided after putting additions on that were done 20+ years ago and they look fine. Those closer to the 30 year mark not as good on the fading though. I gennerally never use the cheaper panels though so I can not vouch for them but I think that as long as it is one of the better manufaturers it seems to be just panel thickness. Just a personal opinion but if you are looking for added insulation I would use one of the 4X8 or 2X8 panels rather than the insulated siding. I can not see how insulation on the back of each panel with all the joints can do much more than stiffen the panels and I would think it would hamper the movement of the panels with changes in temperature.

As for Hardi or any of the other fibre cement sidings it is way more costly and relys on caulk or tar paper strips between the panels to seal out water. It is not very forgiving on install mistakes and must be done perfectly to get the full Hardi warranty. I was just involved with a job where the contractor did not put a few pieces of flashing in properly and his guys lapped a corner board incorrectly and the Hardi lifetime warranty was void. Another thing I did not like is that it is put in with a blind nailing method and even though this house was done to specs in this area of the install the bottom of the siding was not tight to the lower courses in many spots. They did install it to the maximum exposure and I believe if they had gone to a larger panel or even lessened the exposure by 1/2" it probably would have been fine. The other thing I saw was the paint seems to be prone to scratching durring install and to me the house looked like it needed a paint job even though siding was new. I do think that if painted after install a paint job would last many years as the product is very stable and does not expand and contract much. The one big plus I see is it tend to HELP in and area prone to fires such as some ares out West.  I put the word help in capitals because it will not fireproof the home but may stop ignition from sparks and moderate heat exposure.

Alside is the far superior siding. Another option with the Alside is the Center Lock panel. It locks in the center of the panel, eliminating wind blow-offs,has a 3/4 inch profile, and carries the same warranty as the Charter Oak

.Our original was a polymer siding. The City of

Removed the old siding and installed the plywood backing. The intermediate inspection passed with no problems and the siding was delivered by late afternoon. The next

the crew was here at 8AM to begin installing the siding and trim. By evening all was done and painted. It passed the final inspection with no problems. The siding looks great and the workmanship is outstanding

The installation process was great. The crew showed up on time and completed the siding install as promised. The gutters were backordered and did not get installed for a few weeks, but eventually were completed as promised. My only problem with the company was getting a final itemized invoice so the insurance company could complete the final payment. As far as I know, there was no invoice and no final payment. If the company is okay with that I guess I am, too. Just seemed a strange way to do business.

They did extend a discount of 10% and was very courteous and professional on the phone and in person. Told me I needed gutter realignment and they would’ve not been able to apply the $89 but only a 10% discount.

Everything about this transaction was smooth and easy.
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
was prompt, informative and helpful. He not only left us all the
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
color samples but also got addresses where colors we were interested in were used in the Metro area so we were able to view the colors on an actual house. His former work for
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
meant that he was extremely knowledgeable about the proper methods for re-siding a house using
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
siding. The work was outstanding, the crew was friendly and paid attention to detail. They went above and beyond and did some added siding that was not in the original game plan. When we saw a place where the trim looked odd the way it was installed, they took siding off and trimmed the area to our satisfaction. Can't say anything bad about this experience. The price may seem high but the house is a ranch with lots of surface area and the small barn is larger than a three car garage in square footage. We got one other estimate and would have been happy with that provider, but
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
's price was more competitive. The house and barn look amazing, and we couldn't be more pleased!

After getting three estimates, I chose
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
because the price was the best and I had a good feeling after meeting with Vic. In addition, he guaranteed the timing of the project - I wanted it done before my daughter gave birth, due on 12/13/14. The foreman (
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
) was wonderful and had his men set us up in another room with our fridge and microwave, and left us a functioning sink as well as washer/dryer in the laundry room. Everyone was courteous and professional and worked well, even with two small children in the house, closing off the work areas to keep the debris and dirt/dust confined to the work areas and leaving our family room and dining room functional. They cleaned up along the way each day and even went one step further and cleaned out more of the garage than they actually dirtied!!! I was contacted every step of the way to make sure I was available for appointments to measure for cabinets and counters, and notified when plumbing/electrical work was to be done. The cabinet installer
Twin Lake Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
, was terrific. The work was completed prior to the due date!!! I am very happy with the results and have received many compliments. It came out exactly as I had hoped and envisioned!!! I would highly recommend them for any type of remodel and might be contacting them again for work around the house - a new roof for instance! They became part of our family while they were here and we were all very comfortable and at ease with them!
